Ecig with dad NOT a hit, went into his drawer, back to analogs :(

well most of you know (maybe you dont lol) that for fathers day i got my dad a complete 901 kit, along with some 24 mg camel fluid.

my dad is 55, he smokes Camel Straights (no filters) for about as long as i can remember (im 24), at first he loved it, vaping in the mall, a local pizzaria and so on, he even told me that he had bought his last pack of analogs, well soon i noticed no more e cig, analogs by the pack every day, asked him why, he kinda blew me off.

so i started thinking, it has to be that its not a strong enough ejuice for him to kick the analog habit.

so everyone whats my options here?

im thinking 36mg camel juice, sound like a plan?

I don't know, I bought my dad and his girlfriend each a starter kit. I tried different strengths and flavors PG and VG. They found a reason every time not to like it.

doesnt that suck?

i mean its not really the money, but the thought of it helping them out, yes we are not some anti smoking nazis saying you need to quit now like the rest of the world, we are actually trying to do them a favor and said look heres a alternative, it works, just try it.

im going for the 36mg, and we will see how it goes from there.

i wish i had the extra cash, id over night a TW 36mg camel if i had some, his Birthday is on the 13th.

I think that once the novelty wears off, unless you really want to quit, even an ecig won't do it. I found quitting to be incredibly easy with the ecig, but have to admit that after months of being analog free, the thought of a real one still sounds appealing at times. Until your dad has a real desire to be smoke free, think you may end up being disappointed. All you really can do is wait til he is ready, then have the stronger juice available. The good news is that he has been exposed to this now and knows there is an alternative that works out there, not to mention how nasty a real cig tastes now and how much nicer vaping is! Good luck.

Try it!

Same with my dad, I let him smoke one of my ecig for a while and he just keeps going back to analogs! You know what it is? It's all about getting the right E-liquid!!! I smoked analogs for the first week after I got my first e-cig, and was about to give-up on them UNTIL I decided to give it one last shot and ordered some NuPort from Drew at N-Halers. Well, Drew sent me a sample of some 555 Menthol with my order and not only did it give me the identical throat hit that a NewPort gave me and feel the same going down, it felt identical to it in every way, but tasted even better while exhaling!!!

I have been Analog free for 3 weeks and never plan on going back!!! I enjoy vaping so much more then my analogs now, I LOVE IT!!!!

It's all about finding that liquid that gives them the same feeling that an analog gives, thats the key here!

Hope this helps, and gooood luck my friend! :)

Oh..I'm so sorry to hear of your flustration after your genuine gesture. Like the other's have said, the quit thing has to come from (inside). You, none the less have evoked the thought. And all cig smokers, are for sure tired of the tax. It certainly isn't going to buy us all new lungs. Even though it was started out because of our cost on the medical system. Now, it is supposidly paying for child health care. Now just how does that ease the burden that us previous/now smoker's, have had/now have on the health care system. Very crazy solution to say the least.

I would say, at this point, YES!, try a higher nic. If it does not work, well you have evoked the conversation, suggested your solution, and most importantly expressed your love and concern. Hope things work out and you get your loved one over to the vaping side.

Neverless, give yourself a litte pat on the back for being a loving and concerned relative. You truely are a relative (supportive) that most of us would love to have.

My best to you.

    Somewhere between here and there
I would agree with what the others said about the getting the higher strength. I am kinda in the same boat. I have been vaping for about three weeks and haven't been able to quit analogs. I was almost immediately able to go from 30 a day to 8-10. I think I am going to get some 36 also. I have been using 24 and it just doesn't quite do the job. I read another post that said something about holding in the vapor longer to absorb the nicotine. I might try that too as I have a bunch of 24 left. Good luck with your dad.

I think some people are just to use to the analogs and like it that way...I have given a kit to my sister, mom, husband, and friend..
So far I am the only one who quit analogs...In fact I don't even use nicotine anymore..I personally don't think its a nicotine issue..it is more of a habit issue...

I didn't suffer any side effects from switching to zero nic.. It is a very mental state of mind.. I feel we are really fortunate to have such a great alternative nowadays..of others dont see it that way theres nothing we can really do about it..

I agree, you need to really want to get off analogs, I was 1 1/2 pack a day of marlboro reds...I could not resist. Once I got my first e-cigs I have not looked back. It has been almost 1 year woohoo.
I have seen e-cigs being successful for many many people and I have also seen people unable to make the switch...In the beginning there is a slight learning curve, but after 2 or 3 weeks it should be no problem...

    Good luck...

It could be the liquid and it could be the fact that they have nothing vested in a gift. My two youngers sisters are light smokers and I bought them both a starter kit. They keep them around for emergency. The problems lies with them not making their own decision and choosing to make that step. Whereas someone who willingly throws up $100 dollars or more will try a little harder.

    good luck

I had the same problem with my kids. (All adults!!) I got them kits and they really don't use them. I think it is because they didn't really want to change. I did. I really wanted the ecig to work and it did. But I chose to do it. I wanted to do it. So it worked. They didn't seek out the ecig. They liked it at first because it was a novelty, but that soon wore off. They think it is too much hassle. I don't mind all the stuff that goes with using them, but they would rather just light up. I don't think a higher nic would work. They have to want it to work or it just won't.

You never know ITB, even though it's not right for your dad right now, it may be just the ticket for him in 6 months. I know when I was smoking I would go through periods of wanting to quit and not being that interested in quitting.

It's important that you have given your dad some really good tools for when he does decides he wants to quit or cut down. It may not be on our timeline, but you have equipped him for success when he is ready.

I smoked at least a pack a day of Camels for 20+ yrs. Initially started vaping on 24mg and it did the trick for the most part, but I still craved the analogs and burned one 3-4 times a day. 24mg strength was nice for the bulk of the cravings at work, but did not replace my analog habit completely....until I ordered Camul 36mg from NuVape. Loved the flavor, didnt taste like candy like the stock carts did, vapor was heavier...etc. I was getting so much nic that I couldnt fathom firing up an analog, and couldnt even stand the smell of them in less than a week.

2+ months later I havent had a single analog and even the thought of buying a pack of smokes, lighting up, ashing it, feels completely foreign to me, which is freakin awesome! Im now on medium 18mg strength and it does the trick just fine. Unfortunately NuVape no longer carries 36mg, but if you can find even some unflavored 36mg and cut it with Camul or CM juice, I think it will do the trick. I think initially you need to almost overload yourself with nic, to get over the first couple weeks without analogs and to replace your habit with vaping. Hope you find something that works for your pops.

Higher Nic juice would probably help and maybe a model with a manual battery so you can take as long of a draw as you want and get a bigger throat hit that way? Just an idea. However, I do agree with the others that if you CHOOSE to do it and YOUR spending all the money for the kits and supplies, then it works better. I know I have the mindset that I spent money on the stuff, then Im going to use it. :)

I love my ecig! I quit the day I got it several months ago and am just so happy with it. I like it even better then smoking real ciggie and tell everyone about it.

But my best friend tried one puff and won't touch it again. My other good friend bought a set several weeks ago and still hasn't opened it. I gave my boyfriend one that I don't use anymore and he's giving it a go, but I'm not sure how well he likes it....I've never really seen him use it much and he usually has an analog going anyway.

All you can do offer assistance and see how it goes. It's true that a person really needs to want to quit. Good luck! At least your dad has it now and in the future, he might use it again.

    I'M RIGHT HERE
he wants to quit, but it is so easy to just light up. i sent him home with my 901 stuff and some 36 menthol yesterday, right after i ordered him a prodigy. he really took to my prodigy so i think when his arrives it will get him off analogs. i ordered him some 36 also, highest i could find right now. i broke out my stash of 250 ml of 48 mg , and that was really hitting him good .
the thing is it has to be easy or that will be the first excuse, it has to satisfy or that will be the second excuse, i know its a bit of money to get a mod right off, i just figure if it doesnt stick then i will have extra, lol.
get ur dad the strongest juice possible to start, get manual battery, so he can really get the vapor going, get him a mod 5 volts will do the job. good luck
