I realize this probably isnt the best place on the forums but, This is the only place I frequent.. Im at work enjoying my volt (as I have been the last 9 months) and a couple of idiots start with the whole (You dont need to do that around me talk) Ive tried to explain to them til Im blue in the face but they seem to be just short of ......ed... What else can I tell them... Ive explained to them that its a vapor. Which one replies back to me that its not approved by the FDA so its harmful to all. I just cant believe how dumb people can be... Its amazing really....

I always tell people that it is not smoke, but vapor- and also say how it has about 4000 less chemicals than regular analogs. :D
I also like to tell the story of how my dog used to sneeze and move away from me when I smoked analogs. But now she loves my gear, she's always trying to sneak some licks in on my cartomizers- she even likes when I blow the vapor in her face.

Or - You could take a more head strong attitude to be a little more assertive and come back with a couple of sarcastic retorts . . . Especially since it seems to "Me" that these type of people are trying to guilt you into submission and take over YOUR LIFE even more . . .

Here are a few to help you out as they have "Me," especially when someone just doesn't get it and keeps bugging "Me" or even more importantly pushing their own agenda to have "Me" submit to their beliefs about quitting smoking and misinformation concerning "eCigs" . . .

Basic and simple . . .

Oh Thank You - I didn't know that - I'll have to ask someone whose opinion I actually value/care about hearing from . . .

Oh - Thanks - I never heard that before, I'll have to pay attention to "Imbeciles" and "NIM-WITS" more often . . .

Then You can just turn away and keep on doing what you were doing or walk away . . .

Okay and the "HARDLINE" Way (Or More *B-chy* Way) . . .

Oh, Thank YOU - I appreciate your concern, however this is not a cigarette it is "Vapor" which whether or not the FDA approves is totally legal (as is smoking) and is much better for "MY HEALTH" and YOURS - especially if You Don't Leave ME ALONE . . .

Oh Really - Now it seems since YOU ARE Not Intelligent Enough AS NOT TO HAVE ALL THE FACTS about "eCigs" and what vaping really is . . . Let "Me" just educate you on the reality of the situation . . . See Here Is THE THING - This here has helped me Quite Smoking and Saved "MY LIFE" and if You Want to Save Yours - Since You Do Not KNOW What YOU Are Talking About - I SUGGEST VERY STRONGLY THAT YOU GO AWAY ! ! !

Now the DISCLAIMER: It Is YOUR Choice whether or Not YOU take this approach, given that there may be other reprocussions . . . As For "Me" I can and will be a "B" - especially when and if PUSHED . . .

AND Yes - I maybe a counselor and very sensitive to others needs - but every so often there comes a time when NOTHING Works . . No Matter how Nice You Are To THEM . . . No Matter How Much You Try To Educate and Inform People . . . SO IMO, that's the time to take a stand and let them know that you are not all right with them trying to treat you like a child or interfering in your life and your choices . . . Just a thought - My Opinion - and Just My :2c:

BTW: Just to be perfectly honest here - Personally, this is just one of the reason I never wanted to quit smoking analogs before . . . AND - Now that I am trying and using an "ecig" I have gotten so upset at these type of people - since I haven't gone all the way yet - I will pull out an analog - light up and say Okay I hear You - is this better for you and blow the smoke right in their direction - AND Then Just SMILE ! ! ! . . . P * * * es Them Right Off . . . I know - I know - My BAD  . . . But I so enjoy doing it to "Smug Self-righteous Holier-than-thou People" . . . :faceplam:

From the stigma of analog smoke, I just don't vape around people it would offend. It's not smoke, and there's nothing second-hand about it that would harm anybody, but those ignorant idiots are the ones who can cause you to lose your privilege in the office. One word to HR and it's game over (not just for you, but for anyone who would want to vape in your office), and it's their prerogative to set that policy. Then you wouldn't be able to vape AT ALL at work, let alone just around the idiots. Be happy that you have the privilege (not many do), but don't forget that others have theirs too, that should also be respected. Just my :2c:

Smoking cigarettes at my place of work (a hospital) has been banned for over a year. Getting caught results in instant termination. During that period of time, I pretty much abstained from smoking there, using Jolly Rancher candy as my oral fixation replacement for the initial few months. The last few, I haven't even needed them.

Since getting my Volts, I have brought them to work to discreetly show them to co-workers that I know still smoke away from work. I've even loaned out a couple of my 78mm/portable chargers to try for a couple of days. Every once in a while I will get in a couple of stealth vapes from my X2 clearomizer in the locker room when no one else is there. I am very wary in who I let see my hardware, because when it comes to these issues I have very little trust/faith of those in power over me to understand their ignorance.

To the OP, is there a designated smoking area where you work? It might be wise for you to do your vaping there to avoid confrontations altogether.

My sister works at a hospital and its the same deal with smoking there, except she is allowed to vape in the breakroom and no one cares at all. Im pretty jealous about it. Complete opposite with my workplace as they see vaping as the same thing as smoking because of the nicotine and im forced to stand next to 20 smokers at a time outside no matter what the weather is. It sucks.

You never know when things can turn around for you. Before I retired, my boss was curious about my PV's because she said that the CAD Room always smelled like a bakery. I hooked her up with a set. She quit smoking overnight. It was really convenient for her because her disabled son was on oxygen and she couldn't smoke around him. And then, her new husband (a 4 PAD smoker) quit using PV's as well. This made for an extremely grateful boss! :D
