I used my Volt at a bar last night for the first time. I was expecting at least one person to say something but nobody seemed to care. The bartender did give me a funny look at first though.

LOL! Enjoy it while it lasts.. I now carry some business cards I printed out on my awesome new LaserJet along with my own and hand them out the 10 times a day people walk up to me with the "WTF" face.. so many headaches averted and time saved :toast:
I now hand out tons more ECF cards then my own.. feels bad man

Went to another bar and the bartender asked right away if it was an e-cig. I heard someone down the bar talking about how e-cigarettes were banned at some stadium nearby. So that's when I took mine out and started puffing away

I like to stealth vape in "no no" places. Recently while in the newest casino where smoking is VERBODEN, I pulled out my Volt in a passage way to the restrooms. When I took a toot, a couple of security folks were down a ways and one started with the 'SIR ! SMOKI...which the other one cut her off with something I couldn't hear....they then walked on they're merry way. Some folks DO "get" it.

It's funny that I get more positive feedback on the Volt from nonsmokers than from the smokers. I think the smokers have some fear that I'll try to convert them or something. I get the "those things wouldn't work for me" or "why fake smoke" from the smoking crowd, although 3 at work showed an interest and are now vaping at least part time. The nonsmokers love it and have been nothing but encouraging. I've even been able to openly vape at my desk (although I turn on a little fan so I don't blow plumes) without anyone batting an eye. The ex-smokers have mixed reactions. Some think it's great that I've been able to switch without any negative withdrawal, and I think others are jealous that I'm not going through what they did with the cold turkey method.

smoke:
3:fume or vapor often resulting from the action of heat on moisture.

I may be using a Volt, but I am still blowing smoke.

In 2 weeks only one person at work has noticed I changed from tobacco to e-cig
the other 20 people, have not noticed.

On the weekend I have e-smoked at my desk because I'm the only one there.
I still go outside , it is part of my break and routine of taking a break.

So far no odd encounters with other Human Beings.

Anthonyy207, I've found the two people that thought it was "Fake" had changed their mind after taking a draw on my 24mg 555 or Desert Joe, after they are done coughing I'm usually giving them the SI website information :)

Since the 25th of March 12 of my co-workers have purchased a Volt System, with 5 going right to the X2, it's easy to bring them over after they've tried my 78mm Battery for a day, this product sells itself.

I agree the ones that try my 78 mm with 24 or 18 mg's do admit to wanting to try the e-cig route,,i give the the SI website and the ecf forum site,,what they do after that is not my concern.

I openly vape everywhere at work. I get up and go outside if it's nice out and I want to. I vape right at my desk. I did get a little desk fan for $5 at Walmart so there isn't a plume of vapor between me and the computer screen, but I don't hide it.

I spent 3 months off due to high stress family things from January into the beginning of April (analogged through that), then came back about 2 days after I got my new Volt gear. (old stuff still works, I just wanted it to feel new to me again).

When I came back, I walked into my boss's office and showed him. He was supportive. Then showed one of the owners who I know has been trying to get a family member to quit. "Hey, check this out! This might be something cool to help your brother".

Now nobody can really say anything to me because the owner thinks it's great and has seen me puffing away at my desk. At first it was a joke to the smokers, but then one told me he's using the 78mms at home and he ordered the X2 over Memorial Day and another 3-4 cig a day smoker just ordered the shorties. Maybe it'll catch on.

Hello, Coming out of "lurk" mode for NE vapors. Thought I was the only one. I am from Maine. I don't see anyone vaping but me. Mainers tend to mind their own business so haven't had a problem in public, although I do feel a bit weird. At work I have to go out with the smokers and find the smoke bothers me. I soo wish I could at work like generationx just mentioned. I work for a large company and I didn't ask but know someone would complain. Anyway, rather new at this. It's been about 4 mnths but just thought I would say hey and maybe find some other Maine vapors.

Hi from Mass, i feel your pain. I work in Cambridge their laws treat vaping as smoking. My company handbook explicitly does not allow vaping inside.

My home is my office as well so I don't have issues with co-workers; However, I had a unique experience yesterday. Took my laptop to our downtown park and ate lunch while working on the 'puter while enjoying the wonderful breeze and fresh air. A young lady came and sat at the same picnic table as I - we greeted each other then resumed our own activities - she was reading a book. After about 20 minutes, during which I was almost constantly vaping, she got up, left the table and sat on a nearby low brick wall and lit a cigarette. Once her Newport 100 was finished, she returned to our table.

I'm sure you can imagine how great it was to have a total stranger identify me as a non-smoker and behave in such a courteous fashion.

Tat is awesome! There is hope for the future lol

Here is the way I figure it...

Public Enemy #1 in the 80's (The War on Drugs): Yep, you couldn't drive down the street, or change the radio station, or flip through TV channels without hearing or seeing some kind of anti drug slogan. Drugs were definitely the official 'gripe' of the 80's.

Public Enemy #1 in the 90's (Alcohol and Drunk Driving): Just like drugs in the previous decade, you couldn't go an hour without being reminded about the dangers somehow. New and tougher laws were passed throughout the entire decade.

Public Enemy #1 2000 - Present (Smoking): So here we are, were still right smack dab in the middle of an all out raging war! Everyone knows just how bad smoking is, but with the way the media and even the commonplace non-smoker portrays smoking, they would lead you to believe that smoking is the earthly embodiment of all that is evil in the universe! The sad thing is - they are probably right...

The freedom to smoke has probably been attacked more than any other bad influence/habit to come before it. From an age of ignorance when Hollywood and advertisements glamorized smoking, to present day were smoking is banned and all but made illegal, we as vapers find ourselves in a precarious predicament. Not only does vaping get attacked by non-smokers, we are also getting attacked by smokers! Why? Think back to when we all still smoked. Remember how it seemed like every other week cigarette prices would increase, and new laws that made it harder and harder to smoke anywhere just kept popping into existence over night? It felt like our freedoms were being steadily ripped away from us! It has always been a given that non-smokers will attack smokers, but why are smokers so threatened and ...... off by vapers now? It's pretty simple why actually. :p

The main reason is also the main reason non-smokers are - ignorance. 'If it looks like smoke, it HAS to be bad!' is the mantra now. Remember, non-smokers have a war to wage still, and that war won't end until smoking is outlawed in every state! They don't care if vaping is better or worse than smoking (unless a non-smoker is close to a smoker that has switched to vaping, in which case they get to see first hand the benefits. My gf is a prime example lol). It looks like smoking so it is BAD, BAD, BAAAAD, period! But what about smokers? Well, it's not so much ignorance in their case, but more like denial and intimidation.

Chances are everyone knows at least ONE smoker that has never even tried to quit smoking, or in the case of my own dad, smoking had to quit him (he passed away in 96 from pancreatic and throat cancer and smoked till the day he died). There are smokers out there that have no desire whatsoever to ever quit (a brother of mine falls under this category). I remember when I first started vaping and let my brother take a hit off of my PV. The looks he gave it when he picked it up was a look of pure apathy. He took such a small drag off of it that I knew he couldn't even taste it and practically threw it across the room with a look of disgust. Before he even placed it to his lips, his mind (and his 40+ year addiction) had already convinced him not to like it at all costs...

With all the new laws and tax hikes on cigarettes, it's hard enough to smoke when your a smoker nowadays, and you sure as hell don't want even more pressure applied from ex-smokers-turned-vapers preaching about the benefits of their new found lifestyles! No one on this planet wants to be forced out of or into doing anything they don't want, and vaping to a smoker might represent the only alternative to being forced to quit sometime in the near future. Think about it from their point of view for a moment. 'Why should THEY (vapers) get the royal pardon?! Why should THEY get to do that at work, or in the bars, or in restaurants, when I can't??? Do THEY think they are better than me now?!?!'. I guess in a sorta funny ironic way, we probably do come off as 'traitorous snobs' to smokers that are not ready to take the next step when ya think about it!

We vapers are a new breed: we gave up smoking for vaping, so were non-smokers, BUT...were still dependent upon nicotine and other criteria (hand to mouth movements, the expulsion of gaseous plumes upon exhaling, etc) like smokers, so were still gonna get put into that category. We vapers have the best of both worlds really, but until the world cares enough to become educated on vaping, were going to have to continue to walk the fine line between the worlds.

My daughter calls it daddy's pipe. My wife says I am still smoking. She is happy there aren't anymore ashes on the porch or butts in the ashtry and no stink.

I went to the doc recently. Every time I go to him he always asks if I quit smoking. He wants to give me some stupid blue pill.

This time he asked and I said that I stopped smoking the cigarettes and started use a pv or electronic cig. He was emotionless and put it on my chart. Never did ask if I wanted that stupid blue pill.

Have to admit when I am out in public I still move away from people when I vape. People have came by and sat near me and said that's weird I haven't smelled your smoke. I just smile and say have a good day sir. A few times I have pulled it out and took a hit just to see if anyone would say anything.

I really think the people that are going to say anything are the people who cry when the temperature is set to 70 degrees instead of 71.

In the 22+ years that I smoked, I was always a courteous smoker around others who didn't smoke. It just came naturally I guess (good manners I learned from my parents lol). As a vaper, I still find myself extending the same courtesies. When I go into a bar or restaurant now, I will get permission that it is ok if I vape BEFORE I pull out my PV's and start humidifying the room. If it isn't ok to vape there, I will either go outside or go to the bathroom for a quick stealth vape. It's not a big deal to me because I didn't stop smoking and switch to vaping just to be able to get around the laws - I switched to vaping to live healthier and longer and I couldn't stop smoking any other way.

so I quit like 2 months ago my work is very vape friendly so I'm allowed to vape in my office with the door closed.. ((this is the job I'm currently leaving)) but during that 2 months one of the maintenance guys has been finding more and more things to do in my office he recently approched me and asked me about my ecig... I happily let him try it he's a young guy about 21 and I feel bad that hes so young and already has problems bcuz of cigs... I've kind of adopted him ... well today he came in and was sad because he didn't have any money for smokes ... I took out my supply bags and promptly filled up a CE3 with spreamint and handed him one of my 78's ... just give it back to me at the end of the day I said... he looked at me funny ... I go through half a pack a day that will just be a tease... I just smiled and said trust me, just come back if you need more juice... HEHEHEHE he hasn't had to come back yet ... it's already after lunch ... saw him working outside vaping away just a little bit ago... would love for him to realize it's not bad at all

one of my other co workers is going through chest x rays and breathing issues from her smoking and asked me about them about a week ago I gave her ECF and SI's site because I know how hard she's tried to quit and wants too I'm really hoping she finds her path on this journey she constantly berates herself when she goes to smoke... but I'm not really a pusher... she said my 'crack pipe' was yummy when i let her try the vanila and ry4... here's hoping

hubby always jokes about my Crackpipe... more often than not I roll my eyes and laugh along... tapping where it's neatly tucked away in the safety of my bra hahaha... yep I got it ... it ain't going anywhere

Haha awesome story! My gf who I live with and is a non-smoker always gives me grief about how my PV's keep getting bigger and bigger all the time and has jokingly started calling them 'my peace pipe's' lol! Just the other night while laying around watching TV, she asked me for Christmas ideas already. Since my laptop was sitting nearby, I picked it up and showed her the website where you can order a ProVari Mini. She looked at the picture, looked back to me and said "Now what the hell is that...a ....?!" LMAO! She is awesome...

Got to love it. I am hoping SI comes out with their "beefier" model by Christmas. (If it is still in the works)

I really like autos.

Oh, lordy, lordy lord, how I get you !

The "oh... that's nice, so when are you going to completely quit?" response is one of the most irritating to me.

They just don't get it... It's a hobby ! It's a non-lethal hobby !
Do you smokers ever gather round to talk about different cigarette brands and what kinds of sizes you're getting ?
No... Because as a smoker you always smoke the same brand, always smell like an ashtray and you're just jelly cuz you ain't got no PV... Boo-yah !

But seriously... If I were ever to go out and "have a vape" and another vaper would join me, we could probably fill a pretty long conversation just with different opinions and experiences from different equipment and juices from different suppliers...
If I were to go out and have a smoke, and another smoker would join me, we would talk about the weather... If anything.

To me it's like people dissing the beds at the Hilton, and bringing their blow up mattress instead... It's like, EVERYTHING is better about e-cigs, friend... Sorry that you gotta be dissin'.

Yeah my friends that smoked and I would. We also smoked cigars and would talk about them. Clove cigs.. well just about anything when out having a few beers. Thankfully that was before the pc crowd demonized smoking.

There are so many responses I could come back with. I really have to watch what I say. The sad thing as I get older I also am getting younger... meaning I really don't care what someone is going to think. If one is rude enough to say that, they better be prepared for my response.
