Edit a post or close a thread ?

There doesn't seem to be any function available to edit a post or post title, or close a thread started by said person. What can folks do if they notice a typo in one of their threads?
Presently this is just a query, but I wonder why these tools are unavailable to the members here.

Edit, I see that the functionality is there immediately after posting a new thread, but then at some point it goes away...

The editing window is limited (I forget the exact duration offhand). If an edit needs to be made after that window for some reason, thread title needs changing or thread needs closing, you can ask a moderator by using the "report" function. Just click the little triangle at the bottom left of the post

If you want a thread edited, closed (if you started the thread) or typo corrected in the title, just hit the triangle and report it. We can do that for you.
