I just bought a Luc V4 and had a few questions.

I've been using a Nitecore D2 which I really like. The only reason I bought another charger is because I wanted something that could charge at 2a if needed. I've read mostly good reviews of the Luc V4 so I ordered one which I received today. I charged 4 Samsung 25r's at .5a and it works great but the charger doesn't go to sleep. After further research, I found that I have to unplug it when not in use. That makes this charger very inconvenient to use. My D2 goes to sleep after 1 min of inactivity or if you hold the up button for 3 seconds. I thought about installing a rocker switch for power so I don't have to unplug it but it looks like the case is press fit so no screws to disassemble it easily.

For owners of the Luc V4, do you guys really unplug it when not in use?

I don't have a Luc charger but I have two xtar chargers that don't go to sleep either. The power cable on them disconnects at the charger though so I pull that out when I'm not using it and leave the cable plugged into the wall. If that doesn't work for you, you could install an appropriate switch in the power cable close to the charger that allows you to turn the line off without pulling the plug from the wall or the charger.

I was just thinking about it.

Originally, I wanted to open the case and install a rocker switch but I don't want to mangle the case trying to open it (it might be glued together). I was looking for an inline switch and found this:
Pass & Seymour 5406BKCC10 Feed Cord Switch, 6-Amp, 120-volt, Black - Electrical Outlet Switches - Amazon.com

Oh, and I got the latest version and it reads to the hundredths.

Thanks. I have it unplugged and in my desk drawer so I haven't used it since the first charge of the 25r's I got with it. I'm still using my Nitecore D2 to charge and have the Luc v4 when I need faster charging at 1a or 2a.

Fwiw, I had a luc v4 which I was often moving between my home and car and after a while the power input barrel connector started having connectivity issues. I'd have to press downward on the barrel connector (or wrap the cord around the charger) to keep the thing powered on. Happened with both the ac and DC cables, so it was a problem with the charger itself, despite the fact that the chargers barrel connectors pins and contacts appeared to be in good shape, and the solder points on the PCB looked good.

YMMV, but I'd limit the amount of plugging and unplugging you do at the barrel connector end to prevent premature wear. If its me, I'd leave it powered up all of the time, or unplug from the wall outlet.
