Hey I think am going to order the vp4. Is a mah reading really important?
No

Not at all

In my rc hobby, nearly every charger has the mah readout, yet you'd be surprised how many people still haven't the slightest what to do with it or pay no mind to it. Either way, they still often don't know when it's time to purchase new batteries.

How to use mah on a charger correctly...

1) always completely discharge or discharge to exactly the same voltage (which isn't going to happen in a regulated mod as a more damaged cell will recover more voltage when the load is removed)

2) label all your cells

3) be meticulous about (1) and record your mah when cells are new especially

4) always check the mah going back into your cell during charging being meticulous about (1)

5) when mah going back into cell drops below 80% of when it was new, replace cell (as long as you're meticulous about (1))

Or you can ignore it like most folks do anyway and replace your cells when the performance doesn't meet your criteria.

Most of us trash a cell when the vape time drops noticeably. We charge when the vape volume drops noticeably. We take it off the charger when the green light appears. I like a charger with all the bells and whistles just because I'm a technical gadget lover who wants to know everything there is to know about technical stuff.

All the new tech is not that much more expensive than the plain jane when it comes to chargers. A few bucks more and you get more information from your charger. Information is good. Reliability is another thing to look at. Some of us remember Trustfire chargers. There actually wasn't that much trust in the manufacturing consistency. Some of them burned and some didn't work out of the box.

Today's chargers are better because the competition is fiercer. Chargers with tarnished reputations don't sell because of threads like this that disseminate good info.

So I can't just drain them to different volts and then charge them back up each time and check the mahs to see if it holds charge? I have to drain them to the same level witch is impossible with a mech mod.
Exactly.

Every time it's charged from a different level, the mah reading will be different.

To be honest, even if used to cutoff in a prothingy @ 3.5v with a protank with 2 ohm heads every time, there will still be minor differences in mah each charge cycle.

For up to 26650 and 4 bay I would say the VP4 for best overall versatility.

Just because "a lot" of something is being sold doesn't mean anything. Xtar has outstripped Trustfire for failure complaints on ECF and eFest LUC v4 is catching up with reports of bays failing one at a time.
Yeah, my luc v4 spring detached from bay 3. There's no way to open the damned thing up.
