Hey all! I've been doing my research and found mixed results about if e-cigs/ vapes help anxiety at all. I am not a smoker currently but I suffer from anxiety and depression and was just wondering about your thoughts on if these would help at all. Thanks c:
Generally I would say. Yeah it helps some. If it's a.mild.case but I would talk to your doctor. Maybe get on an antidepressant or something. I'm no expert. I just don't know that vaping is the answer. Please dear God don't smoke. I know smoking a certain other something I can't mention here helps some people. But idk depends on what state you are from

I have mild amount of anxiety but also I am also an introvert, extroverts when they are around a lot of other people feed off the excitement of a crowd but for me it literally drains my energy leaving me feel tired/drained... when indoors with larger groups of people my anxiety gets extremely bad, when I was a smoker the best solution for me was to go out for a smoke and get away from everyone and recharge a bit, honestly I don't know if it is just the nicotine or just getting outside for a few mins away from it all but the combination of both works for me very well in that particular situation and now I do it with vaping instead of smoking...

My situation is fairly unique so I don't know if my story will be of much help but figured I'd throw my experience out there....

One thing for sure is that nicotine dependence can make anxiety worse in certain situations when you have a bad craving and can't extinguish it, for me though that is not a problem, I quite enjoy nicotine, it does relax me and in my situation it does help to relieve anxiety and since I carry my stealth vape with me at all times (high nicotine very low vapor) I can pretty much vape anywhere going unnoticed.

If you are not a smoker then I don't recommend starting a nicotine addiction.

The thing with addiction is that it causes stress in itself so when you have a smoke/vape nicotine liquids, all it is doing is relieving the nicotine addiction. It relieves the stress caused from the addiction. Since people feel a relief when they have a smoke (relieving the nicotine addiction), they also associate it with relieving stress caused from other sources.

I recommend finding other ways to deal with anxiety. See if there are any local support groups in your area or see a doctor to see if they can help you or can refer you to someone who can help

It was getting away from everyone that helped, the nicotine was just your mind fooling your body into calming down. Studies actually show nicotine actually increases anxiety, Google

Nicotine can shut down certain receptors in the brain to help subdue depression, but it takes heavy doses to reach that state, or so it seems. Google

Regardless, if you are nic free, I'd try to stay that way as much as possible, nothing good comes from nicotine dependency. Get some lollipops, hard candy, bubble gum, tooth picks, something to focus on an oral fixation if you feel the need for that.
Just my opinion and it's worth what you just paid for it.

I am sorry you are struggling, I have had anxiety and depression since I was 13, so for 12 years now, so I know how much it sucks. Vaping has helped my depression, to a small degree. The anxiety not so much, it doesn't make it worse, but it

That being said however, I starting vaping as a way to replace 'stress smoking" and hookas. I don't know for sure if I was ever addicted to the nicotine. I tend to lean towards no, but I already had the association of inhaling and exhaling something relaxing me, so I'm unsure if vaping would help anyone without that association. I also vape mostly 0 nic with 3mg when I'm particularly stressed.

I have tried many prescriptions for both my anxiety and depression and none of them ever really worked for me. The best things I have ever done for them was learn what triggers my anxiety and ways to cope with it. Meditation, eating well, and exercising have also helped tremendously. I still have anxiety and depression, I always will, but they are better than even a year ago. Also 20x better than in my teens.

No one can tell you what will or won't help you, but I can tell you my experience. Also if you or anyone else ever needs to talk feel free to message me.

Controlling our breathing and being conscious of how we are breathing can be relaxing and calming.

If vapour can help with this as you exhale watching the stress leave you in a cloud of vapour...maybe?

I always will prefer learning to cope or finding non medicinal ways to help alleviate an issue over going to the doc for some pills. Cheers.

I'm not sure if it's wise to pick up nicotine again. It does stimulate your body to produce adrenaline, you might want to research what adrenaline does to anxiety and depression. Nicotine also blocks insuline production. That's as far as my knowledge goes.

Rightnow it sounds more like a selfmedicating wild guess to pick up vaping, it might or might not help you. If not, you've activated your nic-addiction again. If i were you i'd consult some medical professionals.
