Since lost vape doesn't mention that they are using a daughter board for reverse battery protection I'm assuming they aren't. Just a word of caution: Make sure to observe proper polarity when inserting 18650's or you will blow the on-board fuse.

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Wingsfan.

I have a question for you not specific to the DUO but to dna and escribe. Seems like I've seen the answer somewhere but can't remember where and I have looked in escribe but can't find it. How do I keep my device from charging when I plug it into my computer?

In the Device Monitor the bottom right corner click on Diagnostics, then Set USB Current Limit. Just set it to 0.

That's not very intuitive. I would have never thought to look in device monitor. I was looking in the Mod tab. Thank you, You da man WingsFan.

Yeah I seen a YouTube video in Vietnamese where the guy put in the battery backwards and blew the fuse, and it showed him reparing it, also seen it a thread somewhere too before I got mine.

Must have been a recent hire of an ex-Microsoft employee who did that part of the code.

That's really funny and sounds and just like them. I actually worked for Microsoft back when it was a fun place to work in the mid and late 90s. My business partner worked there for 13 years.

So how is it changing those stickers on the door? Easy or difficult to swap? And my understanding was that the Abalone is real (albeit thin) and not just a printed wrap, is that true?

I went with free shipping from VapeNW so I won't have it for a bit and now I'm curious.

Edit: I might not have as long a wait as I thought. I just looked up the tracking number from VapeNW and it's a 2 day priority package. Pretty nice for free shipping.

I have watched 2 youtube videos and once you take them off you can't reuse them. They are very thin and will rip really easy. I have also seen people reporting having issues getting them off and applying the new one. I haven't changed out the carbon fiber one yet. When I ordered mine it stated it came with the abalone installed. But when I got mine it wasn't installed it was in the box. I was suppose to also get 1 dark wood and one light well I got 2 dark ones.
I wasn't happy but what are ya going to do. I wish I waited on getting mine because the price has dropped a lot, but I just got on that band wagon so to speak and got it. So far I'm more or less happy with it.
When I got my first one (Silver) it had bad button rattle and some swirl marks and some scuffs. It sounded like a baby rattle and that was me just picking it up to vape with it. Contacted NW and was jumping in and out of hoops and then they made me contact Lost Vape as they consider this cosmetic. Hmm since when are buttons that are shifting and shaken cosmetic?? Well Lost Vape finally said they would contact NW and have them exchange it, but that was after I made negative post and sent a few not so nice Emails. Well got the 2nd one the button rattle isn't bad. Just the up/down buttons. I still got scuffs and swirl marks on the new one. Lost Vape said they have the best quality control. For me I don't think so.
My Lost Vape DNA 40 is great so that is why I got this one figure if the first mod I got from them was great this one should be also. Nope. Would I recommend this for anyone yes but not from NW who considers all this stuff cosmetic. If you purchase a new car and the door handles are not right and the paint job isn't right would they not take it back because it's cosmetic?? They would take it back so why is is so different with a mod. I paid for a new device with no issues but that is not what I got.

Looks like I got lucky. The silver finish appears fine. I took the carbon fiber sticker off and placed the abalone panels. They went on quite nicely. The wood veneers are very thin, and while they do look nice, I can't imagine getting them off without some damage. As I wanted this for the Abalone anyway, it shouldn't be an issue for me. Now deciding which battery to go with, the Lipo or the 18650s.

Glad to her she arrived safely. Saw the picture in the "Picture of Your Setup Part 3!" and it's gorgeous with the abalone panels. Did the carbon fiber come off easily and intact? I was thinking I might put the abalone on my silver one when my red one arrives.

I'm not sure I'll use my Lipo I never really vape in TC above 30 - 40 watts and when I vape in power mode I use a non-DNA device.

The carbon fiber came off easily (with a solid tug) and the sticker itself is intact, but I would need to get some type of new adhesive layer to put it back on. The carbon fiber is pretty thick, unlike the wood veneers. I'm not sure about removing the Abalone though. It's rigid and I would worry about it cracking trying to pry it off, so I think it's just going to live on this one.

Excellent.. thanks. I am pretty sure the Abalone wouldn't make it through removal. Enjoy! My red one should be in tomorrow.

I got mine with the light leather. Also got the wood and carbon fiber stickers. I really wish these were sold with both sides removable, and the extras premounted either on plastic or metal. Great mod, and I only use 18650's in mine, as I never vape over 70 watts.

Haven't seen the light leather, post a pic if you don't mind. I am right there with you on the removable panels. Would love to be able to switch them out.
