I bought a couple.

At the time they were part of my evolution but was pleased as punch to be able to go through the day and part of the next due to the 18650's. 18650's turned into the basis of most of my vaping.

I still have them though the wife's ex husband is playing with one at the moment, complicated, as back up's. Can never have enough back up's lol

Anyway the plus point for me was not having to buy a charger as they can be charged via the Ego charger I had and you have already. That lasted about a week and I ended up buying one anyway.

Plus's - Compared to what you have they will seem to last for ever, no charger to have to consider.

Negatives - Regulated 3.4 as per a standard Ego battery so in comparison to even a 3.7 device pretty wane vape. Threads are not the best.

I would see if there is a Kgo alternative that you can use a Ego charger on and get that 3.7. I know it is only .4 volts but it makes a difference using low resistance carto.

Do I regret buying them ? Nope. They did me a great service at a fantastic price but with The Bolt out there for a few dollars more and retrospect being a 20/20 deal I should have gone for that. Depends on your budget really if the 18650 Mod is in yours and the alternatives are not go for it.

I actually have a Bolt and although I do like it, there's just something about the Ego I like better. I'm saving up for a Silver Bullet and I thought maybe the ego 18650 mod would be a good, cheap alternative to have while I wait. Had I known that the Silver Bullet was not much more than the Bolt, I would have just waited a while longer and went straight for the good stuff.
The biggest selling point for me with the Ego mod is the on/off feature.

I bought mine for about $15, and it is alright. The battery life is good, but when it drops off, it drops off! I use mine around the house with a LR tank setup and it performs well. I think my favourite thing about it is the nice flat base. I can sit it down upright and not worry about it tipping over. Great when using clearomizers that can flood when left on their side. I had bought the batteries on a sale, so this was something to use them in until I had the cash for a bigger better mod. Was it a good purchase? Heck yeah. At the price and being able to use anything I had around it couldn't be beat. Will I buy another? Probably not, unless it is a VV version like the regular eGo VV's, and is just as inexpensive.

As far as VV goes, I'm just one of those vapers who simply doesn't want it. The 3.3v the ego provides is plenty enough to keep me off the death sticks, that's all I need.
I only have a tiny netbook so the passthrough wouldn't work for me anyway. But I can certainly see someone who uses a bigger laptop or desktop or spends significant time driving, it seems like a good idea. I'll update once I get my ego mod.

I can't tell from the description...is this for the unit without the battery, or a replacement head for the other unit?

That is only the top part of the Ego 18650 mod, a so-called VV replacement head. I'm not sure why the condensed link says mod battery. My opening post has the link for the actual mod body(without battery) with a head that provides a steady 3.3v

It's not really true VV anyway, the only thing it gives you is maximum voltage from your battery and reduces the voltage as the battery wears down. You don't actually get to choose the voltage. If you're looking for choices with VV specifically being able to tweak your voltage to suit your taste, best to opt for a completely different mod like the LavaTube.

Got my mod in the mail today, along with the 2 atomizers. So far, I like the mod. I did have some trouble getting the head on all the way, but other than that it's working well.
For those that have them, do you have a hard time getting the battery out to change them? I noticed there's no air hole in the bottom of the mod.

A little thread lubricant makes it all come apart and go together much easier. Yes, there is no hole, but the bottom is just a cap, if there would ever be a battery meltdown it would pop off quite easily. I have been using mine all day today. I like being able to sit it down when I am at home and not having it fall over.
