EGO 8088 Kit: Did I get the wrong charger?

I got the EGO 8088 kit for my DH, as a backup for his e-pipe (good move on my part - it died after the 1-month warranty.) I read instructions carefully - use only slim charger, it repeated. BUT - what I got in the kit was a wall charger and USB cable? Is it safe to charge with this? This was my first order with 4VL and I didn't recognize at first that this was NOT a slim charger - I had to go on the site and bring up what it was supposed to look like!
I do have a car charger - is it safer to charge the Ego batt on the car charger?
