EGO Adapter Hole - Purpose?

Remember that there is no such thing as a stupid question..

Every 510 -> Ego adapter I see has a hole in the center that "drips" through the center of the 510 connector down to the battery contact.

What's the purpose of that hole? Are there Ego style tanks with no external air holes? (I've used exclusively Protank / Aerotank, so my hardware experience is quite limited)

If there is truly no useful purpose, I'd like to know where I can get a solid adapter.

I'm a little obsessive. Trying to figure this out on my own has bugged me for 2 weeks now.

Many of the pre sub ohm types of tanks drew their air up thru the center pin.

a long time ago all of the 510 auto batteries had a hole in the positive pin and suction activated the device. there was no button. this is the reason the ego adapters have a hole.

I just had a look around at vendors that have that adapter in stock and almost all of the pics I saw show the open post version . . . this one looks to be a sealed post design, though: 510 to eGo Adapter - Avid Vaper

A little dab of silicone would seal the hole up if it bothers you.

You don't need to fill that hole, if you do, you might find you will have just wasted an adapter. Being that they are only a dollar or so usually, just find one without a center hole if it's that big of a deal.

How about you just fix the leaking atty?????????????????????????? The hole in the adapter is only a problem if you have a leaking atomizer.

It can be used to increase airflow a bit, so it's not always a minus, but if you want the exact same thing different battery that's not so good. Or if you're just using an adapter as a drip shield...
