Couldn't figure out where else to post this. Very happily using the 510 (wife and I) for 5 days, but I already realize the batt is not going to cut it for me in the long term. I'm trying to understand the eGo but no retailer pages really explain this stuff. I have been using rocky mountain vapor and they have the eGo batt for $20, and the charger ($10) is out of stock and has been all week. I've checked many other pages and it seems like there are different mah (600-900), and and other models too, they only sell the batt not the chargers, etc, etc. I want to keep using the same attys and carts, from what I understand, I can? I'll keep my 501 batt for backup and let my wife have the other two 501 batts and I got her a pcc. Do I just need a ego batt and the correct charger? It seems the 501 chargers will not work with the ego? Any idea where I can find both right now, cause I'm going a little crazy trying to find this combo with out buying an entire starter for $75

Think of it this way. The eGo is just a big battery for the 510.

All you need is eGo batteries, and an eGo charger. Your 510 atomizers will work on them. In fact, that's what they're designed for.

The mAh rating indicates how long a charge lasts, basically. A standard 510 battery, which is what you have, is 180mAh. A standard eGo battery has 650 mAh, so it lasts much longer on a charge. You can also buy XL eGo batteries, which are a bit longer, and have 900mAh, so they hold a charge even longer.

You are correct that it's a bad idea to use a 510 charger to charge an eGo. I knew someone who did this, and it blew the charger and refused to charge the eGo. So make sure you get an eGo-specific charger.

CigNot.com currently has both eGo batteries and eGo chargers.

Thanks! I'm checking it out now. I'm liking the idea of the passthrough that is also a battery if you remove the plug. I am almost always in front of a computer. I am a photographer, so my main concern is having something that will last me all day with a few puffs here and there. It looks like the passthrough and battery model Joye eGo Passthru is $22 but it's 650 mah. I think I'm going to get the 1000mah and the usb charger for $32. I don't mind the size at all

The 1000mAh eGo is longer than the 900.

900mAh eGo = 3 3/8" (lasts about 9 hours, with constant vaping)
1000mAh eGo = 3 3/4" (lasts about 12 hours, with constant vaping)

The 900 eGo fits my hand perfectly.

I think the ego passthru is only the 650 model, the usb part of allows charging and usage while it is plugged in. Haven't heard of the larger batteries being passthru capable.

Yes, I saw that. I went ahead and ordered the 1000mah and charger. I also ordered a drip tip to try that some more. I find myself topping off my carts often to get the stronger menthol taste. Hope the extra power adds some more punch too

battery life won't provide 'punch' try a low resistance atty with the longer life battery.

Goldsguy,

Just so you know, myself and many others have damaged or destroyed eGo and Riva batteries by using LR atomizers on them. Proprietary batteries (like the eGo, and all other standard e-cigs) don't have enough amperage to deal with the power that LR's draw, and the switch can fry from the heat.

Some people use LR's on their eGo's and Riva's and never have problems. But lots of people do have problems. I killed a brand new 900mAh eGo battery in a week by using an LR on it. And those batteries ain't cheap. The fact that I vape heavily may have something to do with it, but the simple reality is these batteries are not designed to take that kind of power drain and heat.

If one wants to use LR's, the safest way to do it is to use it with a 3.7v mod, that takes batteries with sufficient amperage to handle the power drain. "Sufficient" would be 2.5 amps and above. I believe the eGo is either 1 amp or 1.5 amps. Mods also generally have a more robust and heat-resistant switch.

Mods can be had for relatively cheap. A RoughStack costs $45. A simple box mod costs even less. To me, it's worth it, so I don't wind up having to constantly spend $20 on batteries I've fried.
