eGo APV V3

I'm new here, I've been vaping legally for 2 years for medical purposes. I'm a scientist, so I experiment with "best bang for the buck" I'm no cloud chaser. With my T-liquid is too expensive to waste that way.

I bought an alleged eGo APV V3 from ecig Best Save. It is counterfeit. It is a Vamo V3. It even says VAMO when you put the 18650 battery in.

Vamo V3's last sold for $18. ecig charged me $44. As is usual for the oldest Vamo, it failed almost immediately.

E-cig best save has not returned my warranty calls or e mails in over a week

Beware...

I have tried many power devices. Last year, most batteries were no good. Now the passthrus are OK, but they are still disposable items. I went to 18650s. I bought a vamo V5 which is OK, another which falied quickly and this counterfeit eGo APV which is actually a vamo V3 with all its short-comings, but ecig charged twice FastTech's price...and BOTH have no concept of warranties. The bogus eGo was DOA. I expected to lose a couple hundred on the learning curve. I did. In short I got 3 Vamo's 2 of which were DOA and one of which was bogus. I'll get the money back. Now I'm trying a couple of 18650 mech mods. Each are under $25 on sale. They ARE only battery holders, so if they crap out, tough titties. The vamo/ego 18650s have identical boards and programming, and chinese boards are, like their boats...JUNK. I can fix any mech mod that I can dis-assemble. Utter simplicity. No puff counters needed. No timers. Think of a Kanger K-box: a holder for a battery, a switch, a 510 with it's spring loaded button; a mosfet and a resistor inside. Build it yourself kits cost$24. a K Box: $28. easy

Now to find a tank that doesn't leak...

Undoubtedly mechs are less likely to fail but if they do, the results will be more spectacular :)

There are a few good exceptions to Chinese products but there is plenty crap stuff out there as well. My vamo, think a v1 is virtually indestructible. I can knock down a brick building with it and it would still fire.
In the end most, if not all, circuit boards come from China. Its just what kind of quality the ecig manufacturer is willing to pay for. Want a 4$ 100w board and they will supply but don't complain some will be duds cause QC will be none existing.

Taifuns dont leak and are easy to build.

Hi Ken and welcome to ECF :)

Yup, I had a look at that supplier and they are obviously a rip-off. Not too popular either with an Alexa score of around 1,000,000 . At least you're here now and can get some guidance from other ECF members going forward.

So what field of science are you working in and for what medical purposes do you vape legally? And what is 'T-liquid'?

Watch out for battery current draw in your experimentation with mechanical mods Ken. There is no safety built into mech mods, it's totally on you. Draw too much current for too long and you'll vent your battery. Have a short and the same thing will happen, but it will happen fast. Every once in a while one of these batteries blows up and that can ruin your whole day.

Also make sure you are buying batteries from known good suppliers that don't sell counterfeits. A counterfeit battery that claims a 30 amp rating may only be good for 10 amps.

There's a ton of info on all this stuff here. If you have any questions just ask.
