I can't get it to turn on or off. The light in the button will flash every once in a while. I think i know the problem but have no idea how to fix it. I looked at my other batterys and there is a little rubber ring around the center post. I'm guessing to keep juice from getting inside. Well, on this battery giving me trouble that rubber ring is lose and moves around.. That rubber ring does not move around on my other batterys. Could this be the problem on why this battery will not turn on or off. I click the button 5 times and it does nothing....but the light does come on each time the button is pushed. Hoping there is a fix I can do myself. Thanks

The rubber ring is actually there to isolate the center post (+) from the outer threading (-). If the two touch, it will cause a short situation and your battery could go into thermal run-away. If you're having problems with it, my advice would be to retire it and buy a fresh one from your favorite vendor.

That said, sometimes the center post gets pushed down a little bit too far, usually when you're using an adapter or an older Vivi Nova, or something of the sort. If that's the case, you can take a paperclip or something and attempt to pry it up very gently. It won't look like it's moved, but it has. It only needs a mm or two to make the difference between a solid connection and not touching at all.

Like I said though, I would seriously consider retiring it. It could pose a threat to you if it were to develop a short inside the battery. If it's fairly new, it could still be under warranty, you could contact the vendor and see if they'd offer a replacement. Worst case is that they can say no.
