Hi guys!

I bought an ego-c back at the end of June and I've had no end of problems with it! I'd really like the Ecab but thought it wise to upgrade from my 510 penstyles... as everyone seemed to rave about ego-c's, particularly the twists, I thought I'd give it a go.

But it constantly tastes burnt! I've tried dry burning, wiping off any primer juice, adding a few drops of primer to the wick and coil before starting (this helps for about three pulls) and I'm now at the end of my tether!

After cleaning with vodka and distilled water (the same as I'd use in my ejuice- 70/30 mix btw!), it doesn't wick anywhere near as well, I get little vapour, and it still tastes yucky.

I'm begging you guys, any ideas?x

you must be using some kind of tank system?

when you say Ego Cs, you are talking about the batteries, not the actual delivery system (what you put on top) that isn't wicking well, giving you a burnt taste, etc.

So what are you screwing on to your Ego battery?

Get yourself 2 Ego-C "Twists" (batteries) and then buy some EVOD or other clearomizers to go on top (delivery system), and you'll be happy. :)

I will caution you against getting the Ecab....for whatever reason this has not been a good seller for Joyetech, and I already see a lot of vendors putting it for sale or discontinuing. That means it will be difficult to get parts.

Toss that topper and those little @#$% tanks and try an Evod on your ego battery. You will be MUCH MUCH happier.

Evod 1.7ml clearo at "w.w.w.s.a.f.e.r.c.i.g.s.c.o.u.k/Kanger_EVOD_BCC/p705283_9301875.aspx"

Have fun
p.s.
If you like the 510 style, also check the new Kanger E-smart 510 clearos. They are not re buildable, but they work very well with no leaks or dry hits in a 1.0ml size.

Hi

There are videos up on YouTube about how to properly clean an eGo C atty. See if you can find anything there by Vicki from Cignot.com - she's a tank user and I know she had covered dissassembly & cleaning of Ego tank heads in at least one video. The wick in these buggers and it's placement is the biggest problem. When they work great - well you know that one already. When they don't it can be frustrating as all hell.

Yeah, I've followed all the videos! I've tried everything! I was beginning to wonder if I could replace the wicking material but I wouldn't know what with. Also, even when cleaned properly, I've not been able to get all of the yuckyness of the coil. I wondered if it was the quality of the product as I've seen some on sale for £16.99 for a pack of five (from the same supplier as my ecab and I never had a problem) but mine were £5.50 from a different supplier (same as ego-c) and they've been troublesome!x

Tank systems are not my forte. Did any of the videos mention dry burning as part of the cleaning process? If yes, did you try that?

She said this in the forum too: "Sometimes with a thinner wick, I will kind of jam it from the bottom to give it more girth inside the tube... or replacing it is always good. :)" regarding someone who was having "liquid to the atty" issues.

You may want to search the Cignot forum and see if anything there rings a bell. Cignot

Trying to help!!! These setups can and do actually work.

I started with the eGo T. I was pretty happy with it, though the replacement atomizers were pricey.

Once the eGo C came out, I immediately jumped on board. However, I had the same problem you did. Nasty dry hits, foul taste, pure Yuk.

I remember using 3 eGo C atomizers in a single day, trying to get one that worked.

I moved to using the EVOD and was much happier. The EVOD is simpler, works well, cheap to use and is metal covered so it'll be fine in a pocket without too much fear of breaking.

You can use your eGo batteries with it, no problem.

You can try to chase down ways to make the ego C atomizers work. You might find a fix, but it sounds like its going to be time consuming and probably won't result in an optimal experience. (To use a phrase I love, this would be kind of like polishing a turd. You can keep polishing it, but its still a turd.)

I agree with the posters who suggest the evod. I think you will enjoy them a lot more than your current atomizers.

With your ego c battery, the question isn't really how many mAh, but the voltage. I assume the ego c puts out an average voltage of 3.3. So the 1.8 ohm heads would be a good choice.

With evods you can (in order of less to more fiddly, IMO):
1) simply replace the head with a new one when it starts to taste bad.
2) clean the head with some sort of soaking/rinsing/drying regimen.
3) replace the flavor wicks when they become dirty, rinse or clean the rest of the head.
4) partially disassemble the head (take off post and flavor wicks) and dry burn the coils. Rinse, wash flavor wicks or add new ones, reassemble and vape.
5) completely disassemble, make a new coil with wick and resistance wire. Replace flavor wicks, reassemble, vape.

For replacement wicks, people usually use silica rope or cotton of some sort. Silica rope can be purchased from many online ecig vendors, or on eBay. Cotton can come from a variety of sources (peaches and cream yarn from Walmart, cotton balls, cotton twine, etc...)

How long the heads last is widely variable and depends on what you are willing to do to clean them. A protank head for me (similar to evod) would be good for me for about 4 days with no cleaning or maintenance. Adding dry burning and replacing flavor wicks, it's more like weeks-to a month or longer.

Burnt ejuice on eGo-c attys is from too much voltage on your Twist. If you have LR atty units (heads) - it is engraved on the barrel of the atty unit - then you have to set your Twist to around 3.5 or 3.7 Volts, depending on flavor. If you're vaping fruit and berry flavors 3.3-3.4 volts would be best. If you have an SR head - 2.2 ohms - then you can set your Twist to 3.9-4.2 again depending on flavor. That would be for stronger flavors and you'd have to dial it down for lighter flavors.

Just for example if you have your Twist set at 4 volts and you have an lr atty unit - that's near 9.5 watts which is only good for strong tobacco and coffee flavors. Anything else will taste burnt.
