I started having a wicking problem with an ego-c type B atty and didn't want to spend the time to change it out, so I took a type A atty that I had inadvertently destroyed the coil on (long story), and swapped the spike/wick plate. I took a second to gauge both atties, and they are identical in measurements. It is working perfectly fine, no leaking, etc.
Does anyone know if there is a real difference between the two?
They both measure the same, the only difference looks like one has a B on it and the other one doesn't. Vendors always say they can't be interchanged, granted the cone is obviously different, but the atty? If they are the same size, ohms, etc, then is it just a marketing ploy?
I did the following experiment:
Type A base + Type B atty + A cone
Type A base + Type B atty + B cone
Type B base + Type A atty + A cone
Type B base + Type A atty + B cone
Type A atty w/ type B spike + type A and B cones
Type B atty w/ type A spike + type A and B cones
There have been absolutely no problems with leaking, flooding, dry hits, etc.
So the question remains WTF?
