I popped a brand new atty in last night. HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM! I mistook 36mg cappochino for 0mg blackcurrant it was that bad...no throat hit whatsoever. I ve played with my attys since buying it and here is my tuppence; ego c atty wicks are seated too high up, its bugger all to do with how the wick is positioned in the needle, the wick NEEDS to splay accross the coil. Learn to pop your atty heads off you will quickly see that the better the wick lays accross the coil, the better your vape.
When the wick does touch the coil, whatever liquid you use, some will burn, making carbon, which then starts damaging the contact between wick and coil. This is the reason ego c attys need their wick first checking to make sure of good contact with the coil. Then, when you vape, they need cleaning regularly, I clean by washing in vodka, to be clear the wick isn't burning its just carbon build up where the wick hits the coil.
Importantly, vg (glycerin) seems to make this happen MUCH faster. I m at a sweet spot with my ego, when I started I got all kinds of problems, leaking, burning, no throat hit, no vape. Bottom line, learn to pop the heads off your attys using a knife or some such thing to pry them open, and check the wick for yourself. If its flooding, leaking or burning, your wick needs pushing down a tad. Be sure to put the head back on so it lines up such its gaps match either end of the coil. When the vape goes off just pry the atty apart, drop in vodka for a few hours, dab the blackened end of the wick to get the carbon off, be gentle, then you are good to go.
I am still using all the atties I bought with my c starter kit, a few have weaker wicks, the wicks are delicate, but the above solved all my worries.
