One more picture.

This actually wicks great and performs like the Genesis is supposed to - clean and pure.

I cut the mesh about 10mm wide x 15mm long, bent one edge over to prevent frailing edges and rolled around the silica rope.

Finished shaping the mesh and then torched with butane flame.

Works like a treat.

Still using it - or something similar?

I just (very) recently converted to a line genesis. Must say the wicking abilities of rolled stainless steel mesh is not great - especially if you like a long deep warm lung full of vapour or two...

That's why I thought the silica rope wick with S/S coil wrap would work better - and it does - well for me it does at least.

I've also used SuperGlue Gel, and it seems to also be impervious to PG and/or VG affecting it any. But the SuperGlue Gel takes forever to dry. I'm not sure why it does, but it does...

You can use an old model builder's trick ... sprinkle a bit of baking soda on the super glue. The particles create a greater surface area for the glue to harden, essentially nucleating the crystals at a much faster rate. So just apply the glue, then liberally sprinkle the baking soda on top, blow off/wash the excess, The result will be an almost instant set, and the bond will be harder than super glue alone. In fact, the joint is workable; meaning you can sand/grind it down to a desired shape. This works with the gel and non gel super glue types. Just remember that super glue is sensitive to high heat.
