got mine filled an left it sit overnite used it was working great then i started to get that burnt atty taste any ideas? ty

Try pointing your PV battery end slightly up when vaping.

Unfortunately, Once you get a Bad burnt taste, you usually have to Dry Burn the Carto to get rid of it. But try pointing it up first to see if this helps.

BTW - What type of juice are you using?

These things are driving me mad! Just got one as I wasn't sure about them and frankly I'm glad it was just the one right now... Bare in mind I'm coming to this thing from the position as someone who actually really liked and uses CE2 clearomizers every day, you'd think I'd be in heaven with a giant version!

Burnt taste, no vapour, wicking issues, then plume of vapour with little liquid taste just horrible burnt yuck, dry burn clean out, a successful drag or two and then return to step 1. Repeat. Grr, so irritating. Read about tilting the device a bit and that does help with the dry wicking issue but only presents with another: juice in the mouth. No other clearomizer / ce2 thing I use does this, did I just get a bad one here?

Using janty RY4 if it helps, not that I ever get to taste this great liquid, just burnt primer/rubber/god knows what on every dam drag...

Did you get one of the first versions? They sucked big time.

The new ones have a Rev 5 CE2 engine (fat wicks is one indicator). Not quite as good as the regular sized CE2 to me (due to the much larger mouth-piece instead of my own drip tips), but tolerable given the mondo tank size.

They have a big whistle tip shaped mouth piece (the older ones looked more like a round rubber nipple)

When you pull out the mouth-piece and look at the top, it looks just like any other CE2, just bigger...with two small fill holes (the older one has one big fill hole).

What resistance did you like your regular CE2?

Also...if you do indeed have the newer one:
Make sure you leave all the parts in it and fill with a needle/syringe/pipette/etc.
If you do pull that plug out, make sure it goes back in just like it came shipped (the wick grooves are aligned).

So many people pull the thing out, throw it away (or put it back in wrong), then gripe because they get a mouthfull of liquid. Hmmm...without the plug it's just like a big straw right into your tank LOL. If the plug doesn't align with the wicks...it's like a kinked water hose and leads to dry hits.

Hmm. It's defo one of the older ones then based on your description. Rubber nipple like mouth piece and one large hole in the silicone inner seal as described. I only fill it with my syringe kit and the rubber nipple won't really go in properly any other way then 'the way it's meant to' with it's bung section to fill the hole. Are the newer ones much better then? These things are just awful frankly. I gave it a bit of time thinking it needed a braking in period, but it's been all day now and even now it's still not wicking properly. Too much messing about with these for me. After every other hit I need to dry burn it to stop it tasting utterly vile. Interestingly even with over 2mls of liquid in it the coils go red hot and produce little vapour when doing a burn on it. Tells me it's just useless at wicking then. If I could guarantee it would be the newer model I would consider another one but right now I'm going back to standard xl clearomizers I think.

Disclaimer: Oh just wanted to add, none of my posts here were meant as a slight against the vender GotVapes btw. I've never used them and I'm sure they are great, I'm a uk based Vaper though and so prob won't getto sample them. Got mine from a uk supplier.

My gripes are purely with the first generation of giantomizers nothing else. Thanks.

If you can't get them from GotVapes, look for tags over in the UK that say they are the newer version.
Hints:
1. Rev 5. CE2 engine w/fat wicks
2. Rev 2 Giantomizer
3. Giantomizer 3D (IF it has several windows instead of just one it can be a sign it is a later revision).
4. The mouthpiece will be a big soft whistle tip shape.

You can always email them and ask too :)

I think you'll like the new ones much better if the 2.8 Ohm range of CE2 suits you.

If you want a much hotter or cooler (different resistance) CE2, you might want a custom tank where you install your own CE2 instead, or grab a VV mod then it doesn't matter anymore :)

Unfortunately, The gen 1 giantomizers had a few problems.

When an CE2 type carto works better when the battery is tilted slightly up, it is a clear sign that the carto isn't wicking fast enough. The two main reasons for poor wicking is a crimped wick at the cup by the cup seal. Or that the ohms are two low for the voltage output of your PV. Either way, the hit is going to taste burnt.

It is possible, but not easy on the giantomizer, to enlarge the cup slots in the cup seal slightly to keep the wick from being crimped. This is the Best performance enhancement that can be done to a CE2 type carto. On a regular CE2 it is a simple procedure. It is more difficult on a giantomizer but possible.

The leaking is another issue. That big hole in the cup seal was a big mistake by the manufacture. I used a plug from a 510 filler type carto condom to plug the hole. It works pretty good but occasionally I get a taste of e-Liquid in my mouth.

I got one of these in the mail today and all I get is a burnt taste and smell.
No idea what to do with it.
Waiting on a response from GV but not sure what to expect.

The first thing I would suggest to to try pointing the battery end of you PV up slightly when you take a hit. If this helps then it is probably a wicking issue.

What type of PV are you using?

You guys kinda lost me...
I got a Riva 510, no idea of the voltage.
All I know is I figured getting this thing would hold me over until I figure out how to make a tank mod.
But after I filled it I screwed it on and all it does is give me a burnt smell and burnt taste.

Should be no problems with that battery.

Pop off the mouth piece. Drip one or two drops of liquid directly on the coils. Give it a couple of quick burns without drawing air through it or anything. Pop the mouth piece back on. Vape. Better?

The Riva is a 3.7 volt PV so there is no problem that you are using too much voltage.

I would suggest that you take the cup seal out again and make sure that the two slots in the seal are lined up with the slots in the cup/wick.

Sometimes what happens is that the seal gets rotated slightly when it is pushed into the Giantomizer. This crimps the wick and doesn't let your e-Liquid reach the coil. Causing a burnt taste.

Also try pointing the Riva's battery end up slightly to see if it helps. This makes sure that the e-Liquid is at the cup when you take a hit.

I almost destroyed the fill ring on mine getting it out. If you happen to have a Vision carto lying around try the fill ring from it in the Giantomizer. It's a bit easier to get in and seems to seal well. Otherwise you can just leave the fill ring out entirely but you'll need to keep the unit upright.

Yeah that silicone seal seems to be refusing to come out. Badkolo is kind enough to try and help me through PM's.
Thanks for the tips though
