So I ordered 3 ego kits from myvapestore.com and they should arrive today. I got them configured with mega carts and ordered some smoktech dual coil cargos as well along with 10 different juices to see what I like the most. First time vaping and one of the kits is for my mother who is not very technologically gifted so I wanted to make this as easy as possible for her.

Anything I need to know to get things set up before we vape for the first time? Also, how do i go about cleaning the liquid out of the atomizers and cargos that they ship them with?

Thanks guys!

Go do some searching on youtube for dripping and filling cartomizers.

Learn to drip on an atomizer to sample a flavor. Learn to fill a cartomizer when you find the flavors you like.

Let the juice soak in to the cartomizer for at least 30 minutes after filling it so you don't scorch them.

You can also find some videos on cleaning attys and cartos.

All that info is available here on ECF, but for a newbie vaper, the visual element is a big help, IMO. Good luck!

Just make sure you charge all the batteries before you use them. They used to advise that you charge it fully, use for 20 minutes, then charge again, but I don't know if this is still the case. As far as the atomizers go, put your mouth around the threaded end and blow hard, with a paper towel in front of the other end. Keep doing this until the gurgling stops and no more liquid comes out. Even after doing this, the first hour on the atomizer isn't going to taste the best. It will get batter shortly.

Unless you ordered your cartomizers pre-filled, you shouldn't need to do anything. If you did order them pre-filled, you are pretty much stuck with whatever flavor is in there until you vape through it.

My general cut and paste advice

Anything that looks the most like a cig with the same diameter as a cig is crap.
Cartridges used on an atomizer are the most annoying way to vape
Cartridges and cartomizers do NOT last as long as a pack of cigs unless you add eliquid
Tanks - some people like them an some hate them
High VG juices are too thick for most cartomizers and tanks
Auto batteries or any battery with an open hole in the end can be damaged or killed by juice leaks
Manual batteries make it easier to get a good hit
100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping w/ a standard resistance atomizer or cartomizer
Slim ecigs should only use standard resistance - the hotter LR stuff is for the BIG models
Always charge an ecig on its own charger

Never screw anything on or in any further than necessary to connect and work

You need spares for everything
New vapers don't buy enough eliquid
You may buy a new model within a month

Do not buy ANY model unless you know what threading it is, what it should cost, whether it is a good model, and where else you can get supplies for it

Re cartos - I always recommend learning on Boge 3 ohm cartos first (harder to singe those) then try Boge LR 2 ohm cartos and dual coils and whatever else. Boge LR cartos are still the most popular on big 510 devices.

VG juice is too thick for most cartos. I recommend high PG blends like 80PG/20VG. Depending on your carto type you may be ale to go thicker.

I'll hit you with a bunch of stuff since I've been using the eGo-T (type B) for several months. In no particular order... 1.Johnson Creek Juice rocks. 2. The tanks can be used again and again and again when cleaned with alcohol and q-tips. 3. a paper clip tip removes the two small plastic pieces at the mouth tip of the tank for better cleaning. 4. soft caps eliminate all leaking issues (99.9% anyway) so order some! 5. have several batteries (my wife and I share 8 of them) 6. atomizers can and should be blown out gently every day or two. 7. clean atomizers with alcohol or not and they still have a max life of a few weeks 8. LR atomizers (low resistance) produce monster vapor!! They are the only one's I buy. 9. sometimes atomizers die suddenly and without reason... some fade in vapor quality slowly and you can have a warning... but the lesson is to travel with a spare! 10. I haven't had a real cigarette since March 11, 2011!!!! 11. always turn your battery off when carrying in a pocket, purse, bad, etc... 12. change colors of your atomizers with every order to avoid mixups between new and old... you can't really see the difference. 13. There must be 20 more of these tips, but I'll stop there. I hope this was helpful

As suggested, start with dripping an atomizer to find the juice that you like ( and drip it for at least a day as your tastes will change ) You don't want to waist time and $$ filling cartomizers of juice that doesn't agree with you. Don't give up if expectations lack at first, it takes time and experimenting to figure out what you like, start simple and SLOWLY move forward. I've been vaping now for 2 months and I'm still experimenting.....and trust me I've spent a lot of needless cash as well doing this :(. Budget and stick with a plan or you'll over spend like I did at first.

Carts suck, don't bother

drip tip, atomizer, and quality cartomizers are a very good start. Once comfortable with that SLOWLY move into trying new setups.

My setup currently:
- drip while at home most of the time with a LR cisco atty on an ego battery...all 510 ( simple, best flavor, and good overall starting experience )
- if I'm out and about, I use a type B ego tank setup and/or CE2 cartomizers ( I don't like filler type cartomizers, they taste like drawing air through toilet paper to me, IMHO :) )
- I also have a reo mini mod which I use from time to time
This works good for me at the moment and allowed me to quit analogs without much hassle.

Quality juice is also important, I like Liberty Flights for the juice ( price is not great but quality is very good ) and I prefer VG because I get allergy/headcold type symptoms with PG.

good luck and don't give up :)

1. The atomizer/catridge set up is becoming extinct, so if you try this and don't care for it, know that there are other options such as dripping, filler-type cartomizers, ce2/ce3/disposable tank atomizers and eGos own tank to atomizer system.

2. The important of high quality juice cannot be over stated.

3. Get a signature banner than will at least roughly calculate how much money you've saved via switching. Do not buy anything else until that figure allows you to. Example, you want to try out some ce2s. Don't buy them until you've saved about 13 bucks. Keep track of what you spend. Vaping, especially when you're new can take on a life of its own.

4. The experience varies from user to user. Find a set up you like and stick with it.

So they just came in and I'm very impressed with the build quality and fast shipping! A couple questions:

Where i ordered the mega atomizer for the ego they didn't come with a cone attachment. That's fine using the mega atomizer and cart but here's my issue. I bought a 5 pack of smoktech dual coil cartos and not sure how to use them. They didn't come with any kind of tip, do I need to order a tip in order to use them? I can upload pics if I need to.

Thanks guys!

You don't need a drip tip, but they're great. Til you order some, you can get by with household items like a pen gripper:

I just started at the beginning of September, I was lucky to have a friend start me off. The funny thing was he warned me that I would probably never use carts again and within a week I was playing with cartomizers.
    Other things he predicted
    1. You will be dripping withing a few months - best taste and throat hit (Lasted 2 weeks before I started dripping)
    2. You will eventually want a mod - My SB is due in any day now. The Ego and Ego T batteries are not consitent enough for me, they start to loose flavor within an hour or two and I have to switch out. I believe this is due to the battery dropping off.
    3. You will eventually save some money, but probably not initially. - Ouch. very true, I have been experimenting with what works for me and have spent quite a bit on atomizers, cartomizers, drip tips and juice. It has helped having a vendor(vaperite) locally who has greatly offered advice as I have progressed through figuring out what works for me.
    4. You will have bad vape days where nothing tastes good and things dont work right, but there will be great ones too.

Be patient and stick with it is my best advice. Find what works for you and dont be afraid to try new things.
    most of all have fun!
