Ive had the ego for about a month now and still going strong! However one of my batteries the button occasionally (but rarely) sticks, but its nothing a little wiggle wont fix. Other than that its still a great vape and awesome battery life.
I found another thing I love about it... the paint. Ive dropped it a number of times and there are absolutely no nicks or scratches. Thats more than I can say for my normal 510 and penstyle etc. Those things would scratch if you sneezed too hard.
I havent tried the LR attys yet... Im kind of hesitant cuz they could potentally die in an hour and I dont need that s%!t when Im out and about. I guess Ill have to at least try it. If its totally super friggin awesome then maybe its worth it... idk.

Got mine on Saturday, from Cignot. I had pretty much given up vaping on my 510 and was relying mostly on snus and nasal snuff for my vitamin N. The eGo has changed that equation! I've been a vaping fool since getting this thing. I mean I am in LOVE! Have an lr atomizer from AltSmoke on the way, and some of the much-recommended liquids from Backwoods Brewer as well as a zfm cart. If those enhance this thing then I'm golden. :)

Does anybody know the scoop on how other venders (aside from Janty) are getting the Ego. I am just curious because it is my understanding that Janty, namely Mik, designed the Ego. I have gathered that Janty deseigned it, Joye makes it, and Totally Wicked had gotten their hands on it and named it the Tornado, but how did Cignot and Nhaler get it?

I am just curious. The more the merrier IMO, just wondering if anyone knows the story here. Or is it simply self explanatory?

I would guess that Janty gets a piece of the pie regardless of who all is selling it.

Got my Ego from Janty, end of March. I loved it,made life a little easier when you're on the go, not having to carry extra batts, pcc, etc. On a recent road trip,I had 1 batt last 12 hours.

But, I'm glad I still had all my 510 batts charged & ready to go,because both my Ego's died this morning suddenly. They both stuck on without the button being pushed or the LED coming on & they are DEAD! They both have a burnt electrical smell. One got so hot I took it outside & left it. I thought it was going to blow up.

The malfunction seems to be in the button, because as soon as you screw the atty on,it starts to heat up. Maybe it's the little circuit board inside?Whatever it is,they are no longer usable.

I was wondering why TW sold the batteries in the 5 pack, now I know. So roughly, these batts last about a month, then self destruct. I guess $20 a month for a battery is OK,but I am a bit disappointed. I think they could do a better job on this unit. It just seems a shame to throw them away.

Will I buy another one? Probably, but I'm going to keep my 510's & 306's handy, just in case. That being said, I still like the feel of 510's. Every time I take a drag off the Ego, I feel like I'm using a medical device.

Cheers,
NB

if you got it from janty theres a 6month warranty on the batteries..
yeah the MOSFET board can go on them particularly if you short an atty on one...but again see part about the 6 month warranty..

that being said I've had my set I got from janty since the end of Jan with no problems with the batteries so the statement that they self destruct after a month is unfounded...

now if you choose to go with another company that only has a 28 day warrant...or no warranty on a 5 pack.....well you get what you pay for.

Janty designed it...Joye manufactures it...and Janty released it OEM....so joye can sell it to other vendors and janty gets a cut for the design work...that's why originally only janty and then TW had em...then places like HG got em but couldnt sell to the US and UK...now everyones got it..

Glad to hear everyone is enjoying their new Egos! They are, IMHO, one of the best ecigs available!!!

Just to clear the air here a bit for you strkaholic, the 'wide band' atties are nothing 'technical', it's a strictly cosmetic reference. The band they're referring to is the one around the bottom, (threaded end), of the atty. The wider band is just one with more 'gold' look to it.

A carto is an atty and cart all in one piece. While they have their ADvantages, like ease of use, etc., they're not MY favorite because, A) I like to see what I'm doing when I'm refilling B) the idea of burning filling isn't my idea of a good time.

The LR atty looks exactly like the regular ones, but they simulate the HV (or, high voltage) vaping many of the bigger mods offer. But, they're more expensive than regular attys and don't last as long. Everything has it's 'give and take'. And, I wouldn't recommend investing a LOT into LR atties for people just beginning to vape, they MUST be kept wet and cool enough at all times and it's hard to determine the subtle changes in tastes etc. when you're first starting out.

Hope it helps!!! :)

Thank you Domino!! You have definitely helped me tremendously. I think I'm just going to stick with my eGo and the atty's for it as well as the regular carts. I'll play around with fillings but I find I prefer dripping. I am very interested in making my own juices so I'm going to get me a kit for that. Otherwise, while I would love to try other devices, etc., the whole point of this for me was to quit smoking for my health and save money. I'm going to make myself stick to what I have with back-up batteries and atty's and hopefully, my own juices :). Again, thank you so much Domino...you ROCK!!!

I see on the janty site a 3 month warranty, didn't see 6 month. Just judging from my experience, both batts going out the same day, attys still working fine. Opened a ticket, haven't heard back. Thanks for input

it says 3months for batteries...and 6 months for atties and switches...but since the switch is part of the battery it's effectively a 6month warranty on the batteries...
and they're pretty good about it...(I've had to warranty a few atties with them)...

EDIT: oh as a side note for all....LR atties will kill your batteries quicker...any battery smaller than an 18650 or a 16340 high drain...because the amp draw on them exceeds the max drain of the battery...(that's true for joye 510 atties as well..but only less severe)

Drozd,

I am almost sure that you're not saying that LR atties will prematurally kill Ego/Tornado/Riva batteries, right?

It says that LR atties should be used on 460 Mah and up batteries.

No that's exactly what I'm saying...

the LR atties up the amp draw at a given voltage.... when your amp draw exceeds the max drain rate of the battery it overstresses the battery and reduces it's service life (# of times it can be recharged before it will no longer recharge or hold a charge)...the more you overstress the battery the quicker you'll kill it...

the amp draw of a LR atty at 3.1V (eGo) is 2.07A
at 3.7V it's 2.47A

max drain rate of a 650mAh eGo is about .65A
max drain rate of a 380mAh KR8 battery is .38A
max drain rate of a 14500 (AW) battery is 1.5A
max drain rate of a 18650 (AW) battery is 4.4A
max drain rate of a IMR 16340 (AW) is 4.4A

so yeah the LR atties will overstress and kill a battery faster... you also lose runtime between charges too...the question is by how much are you overstressing the battery by..

Mine just came in the mail today. I like the look and feel of this device but mine seems to lack on vapor production. I've heard people talking about breaking in an atty, any idea on how long that takes?

-----------------------------------------------------------

Never mind, I just blew the primer out and added a couple drops of juice to the atty. Vapin' like a champ now.
