OK, after some reading and experimenting found that most enjoyable 0.5 Ohm Ti CLR setup for me is in a dangerous zone -
500F at 12 watts.
But it fills so good

.
Any thoughts?
I would also try what Puff suggests. I'm no expert, but I do run TC almost exclusively.
I run SS, and even though I occasionally vape it in Power mode at 13.5-15 w, I set my watts to 30-40 when in TC (doesn't seem to make much difference). From what I've gathered, many people set watts in TC mode to the max allowed by the device and leave it there (e.g. Busardo and Daniel of DJLSBVapes). Logically, if TC works perfectly, no power limitation should be necessary. Unfortunately, TC control is not yet perfected.
What device are you using? It could also be that the reported screen temperature is inaccurate. (A tip toward DP's comment/question to you.)
Have you done a dry cotton test to see at what temperature the dry cotton starts to brown or singe on your device? If the dry cotton doesn't burn at your current settings, you should be fine.
Run a long strip of cotton wicking material through your coil, fire your device, then see if it singes or burns. Start low, go higher. You're fine if it very lightly browns (more like barely yellows) the dry wick, not so fine with anything darker, definitely not good if it bursts into flame. You're perfectly fine if the wick doesn't seem to change color at all at your usual setting. Don't stress too much, the "burn" point of a wet wick is higher than with a dry one.
Finally, I lock my resistance. I've read that some people don't. Be that as it may, locking the resistance at the wrong reading can wreck havoc with TC temperature estimations.
TLDR: if it tastes good, you're probably fine.
