My first Ego One Mega V2 and my 1.0 CLR's came today. Can't wait to try them out. I have some new juice I've been saving for this.

What wattage do you recommend for the stock 1.0 coils?
I've never used rayon. I've always been a KGD cotton user.very cool, how sweet is that...

you been around long enuff, you KNOW the rule
#1) start low, increase till YOU'RE happy
start around 8-8.5w, go from there...
then after you run that 'stock' wick in that 1.0Ω (for a little bit)
pull out that stale , dry stock cotton and put your own cotton or better yet, Rayon in
you'll be surprised the diff...

They work pretty well with the KGD too. I use both but like rayon best.I've never used rayon. I've always been a KGD cotton user.

What gauge of SS wire do you use? Can't remember if this has been revealed yet, but just in case, there is a way to make these wonderful CLR coils even better, thanks to our good Professor Cheech.
1) The obvious: yank out the overstuffed cotton wick and replace it with rayon.
2) When recoiling, try stainless steel. 304 or 316 or 316L are all good choices.
The flavor is much cleaner than with Ti or kanthal. SS coils work very nicely in both wattage/voltage and temperature control modes.
3) Dr. Cheechako's Magikal Mystery Flavour Enhancer: Place a rayon flavor wick on top of the coil, replace the top cap, and trim the tails. the flavor wick should be a little thing, in the neighborhood of 10-20% the girth of the main wick. Be sure it doesn't extend beyond the sides of the coil, blocking air flow around the coil.
4) enjoy some extraordinary vapor and flavor!
I replace both wicks every three or four days to maintain flavor and a good draw.
The steel coils last approximately forever, give or take a few years.![]()
What gauge of SS wire do you use?
Is this right? I use 30g Kanthal in just about everything. For my ego one's I make a 7 wrap coil on a 2.5mm mandrel for about 1.7 - 1.8 Ω's. To get about the same thing in SS, it's about double the number of wraps, this is according to Steam Engine.
I'm referring to the difference in number of wraps between the Kanthal and SS for the same ohm build.
