Those spare o-rings are for the seal on the base. ;)

Edit: and presumably the top as well as that entire unit comes apart.

Thanks, CC. We kind of figured, because Puf had mentioned that they came apart, but we were too lazy to futz with it.

@Dieseler, reading your post above reminded me of something. I'm curious when I hear about a married couple that quits smoking. I think it's pretty amazing, actually, considering how hard it is for even one person to make the leap. If it's not too personal, I'd like to hear the dynamics of how you and your mate both decided to give up cigarettes.

Edit to Add: If anyone else would like to chime in with a similar story, I'd enjoy reading it.

Sure Mike,
About 7 years back we stopped and never looked back.

You see my wife a little younger than i would suddenly start coughing as she smoked and i noticed this and it was not a seasonal thing .
One day and i forget where i saw an add for what looked like a cig with a glowing end and came with charger and some either menthol or reg cartridges.

Her being on menthol and me reg we bought some and they started working for us .
I was at 2pks of Marlb most of my life her at 1and 1/2 Newport a day most of her life.

Well the e-cig that had a glowing red end we found that the batteries would last no more than 2 hours before needing a charge and we had several but still a pain constantly charging them but they kept us off the cigs permanently.
So we moved on looking for something to last longer, she went to some early ego type that also had cartridges and may have some still albeit no longer used perhaps stashed.
Well my wife kept getting newer ego type devices and liked them while i tried many different types of tank and devices and liked the genny's with the ss mesh making my own coils etc.

Remember the old aluminum and ss Megladon device had one of them too under scubabatdans
large genny he made and sold on the forum years back all sold.
It became like a hobby but kept off the stinkies.

Long story sorry but anyways i started getting into diy and make the menthol for the Mrs and the reg for me and its so so much cheaper as we are lifetime stocked on everything we need and we truly truly have no need to ever buy anything anymore with exception pg, cotton and batteries which should always be around to purchase.

My DID gennys' and dozen or so of 500ss 12x12 sheets of mesh are stashed etc along with her older ego types and last couple years we just use the simple ego's her the 2 ml tanks or so and i the mega's and both at 12mg of nic and @97%or so pg as vg does not like us both.

Her cough left her long ago thank God as i was getting worried but thats what really pushed me into all of this.

As for her ego batteries she now has plenty of new devices that take 18650 batteries unused except for one once her ego type batteries go kaput.

Thank you so much for sharing. I find affirmation in these stories. I'm proud of myself, and through ECF and meeting a few vapers in person, vaping has become something of a communal experience for me. I'm pretty sure I would have stayed off cigarettes no matter what, but finding this forum in the first week of my journey made it so much more enjoyable and made the learning curve easier.

I came to this later than you and many others here (about a year and a half ago). So much so that they're almost giving away eGo batteries these days with eGo One mega tanks attached for less than $10. I bought several recently and absolutely love them. What goes around comes around, I guess.

lol.... didn't you buy 10 of them like everybody else did when they were $2 from HG? Or were they $3? Maybe that's why I only grabbed the Tron-S ones.

so after many many years of smoking - just out of the blue, my sister brought over a bag of eCigs she had been trying to use to qwit smoking...
so wife & I went thru the bag and picked out what we wanted to try (ego's/ce4/Blu, etc)

had a box of RYO cigs we needed to finish then we would start/attempt to switch over to this new electronic style of smoking...
so I am a tinker/do it yourself type and I got the 'bug' to see what makes this "ecig" work and make it work better
started fooling around with all the gear sis left us and started LEARNING
then started researching, went to an ECIG SHOP (wernt many back then around here)

I just kept on working and improving the little ecig output all along not trying to spend big on something I really never thought would amount to much...
then I realized it had been like 5-10 days without a cigarette -- the electronic gig WAS WORKING

I just continued on and have NEVER smoked another cig since :thumb:
Wife had SEVERAL cigarettes during our upstart period...
I was doing MORE EXPERIMENTING with my stuff/gear probably than she was exposed to

so this was IT, I wanted to jump in with both feet and bought a Kanger EVOD KIT (what I thought was best at the time)
then I seen a YT video of some guy RE-Building one of those Kanger bcc coils :shock::shock:

I was bitten bad ! - I had the fever and started rebuilding my .... off // and the rest is HISTORY...

4 ½ yrs later I have no desire to smoke and know I never will, ever again...

:smokie: :vapor:
Bonus thoughts:
-vaped 36mg maybe 3-6 months starting
-found ECF about a month into our journey
-didn't know eJuice and kept getting PG strong which KILLs MY throat; after I figured it out all went smooth
-EVOD kits came stock with 2.5Ω or 2.8Ω coils; when discovered it was SAFE to use 1.5Ω, wow ! my world changed
o_O

those thin colored silicone "rings" that came with the TRON tanks
are for Identification purposes
Joyetech marketed them as designer so you can tell which tank was what... (and be all matchy match)

what the heck is trontee , why would anybody use a word like that, threw me way off my game...

I gotts plenty-o-CLR coils

maybe after 2½ yrs I have 15 of them in service
and after hundreds of rebuilds I can say two things:

ONE got bent/tweeked at the threaded 'split' ever so slightly and is a bit difficult to start a thread on the cap, but still in use
and getting in a hurry, I PULLED a wire VERY HARD once and sliced thru a silicone groment like a piece of cheese

that is the only bad, break down, no longer working of my CLR's that I can bring to thought...

I bought a new pack of CLRs some 6 months and change ago. First thing I did was swap the coil out on a new CLR in 316L. 1.2 ohms wicked in Rayon. That coil still humming along good as new. I've re wicked a total of about a dozen times. With proper care I'm confident one could get years of daily use out of a single CLR.

Funnily enuf, ceecee, I ceecee no o-rings whatsoever on the TronTee base. Nor do I see one on the TronSee base either. Hmmm. The mystery kontinues.

It probably was at that time. We used to recommend it to newbies. I remember my first Evod with great fondness. :)

Great stories, @pufZeppelin and @Dieseler . Thanks for sharing!

...and after all the earlier "Doggy" talk, a broken o-ring (simply from twisting it open).

That goes into the Minus column.

View attachment 677871

Ouch. Do we know the diameter of that ring (inner and/or outer)? About to order me a doggy and saw this...
