Hello all, I've been vaping for about a month now. I started out with a starter kit from v2cigs, which I really feel was a rip off as I'm no longer using any of the gear I got in that first pack except for the passthrough, and that's just because I haven't upgraded that yet. I ended up getting a 1000mah ego twist that I've been using for the past two weeks and loving it. The only issue is the battery life. I only have one, so if I go out after work or something I know that the battery is going to die. I was going to buy two more of them this Thursday when I get paid, however I think that I just need to break down and get a mod. I am looking at the Variable Voltage MyGo starter kit from aquavaporcig. It seems reasonably priced, and I was planning on getting two of the 2000mah batteries that they sell as well. My only hesitation is that I've heard mixed reviews about the quality of the unit itself. I like the fact that it can take such large batteries, and I like the battery gauge that it has on it as well. I would love to grab a provari but it is just too much to spend right now. I've already spent about $450 on vaping equipment in the past month so I can't really justify spending $200 more right now. So my question would be, should I try out this MyGo kit, or should I just get another couple of Twists to hold me over until I can afford something better?

I have the mygo from AVC.com and I love the thing. It hasn't done me wrong yet. But honestly it depends on how long it would take you to save up for a better unit. The way my expenses are right now it would take me about 5 months to be able to save up for the provari but I was able to buy the Mygo right away. It all depends on how long you are willing to wait to upgrade!

Thanks Ed and Bubba for your replies. Bubba, I'm glad to hear someone had a good experience with them. I'm in the same boat, I already spent way too much money on vaping and it would be well after Christmas before I could afford a provari.

No need to rush the Provari, Twists are good batteries. Find a couple go to juices and start to recoup some of the money you would have spent on smokes, then before long you'll have some extra cash to spend on fancy toys like the Provari.:2c:

Twist batteries! My only concern would be buying from a vendor who sells discontinued mini ecigs (DS901 and RN4081) in big expensive kits called 'PRO' ! And who calls cartridges 'filters'. Or even SELLS cartridges!. They have been discontinued for a long, long time!

Also, what is a 'MyGo'? Is that a fake LavaTube?

I vote for getting the Twists now and save for the Provari. You can always use the Twists for backups and for when you are on the go. Vapor Beast has some non-Joye Twists for $20. Some people have had issues with non-Joye Twists but the three I've gotten from Vapor Beast have worked well for me and one survived, no worse for the wear, when I tripped and it went sailing half way across the room landing on a hardwood floor.

I always recommend GENUINE Joyetech eGo-C Twists to everyone. I think everyone should have one (in 1000mah size, not 650mah). The reason for this is that 2 ecigs do not a backup make. Even if you have an APV you will not easily beat the power, price, and portability of a Twist. They are the Toyota Corolla of the vaping world. The best place to get a genuine Joyetech eGo-C Twist right now, for the lowest price, is Altsmoke.com. Also there is a knockoff vs. genuine Twist comparison with pictures on the second page of my blog, The Vaper's Handbook (link is in my signature) so you can learn the subtle differences and not get ripped off with a fake.

There are many alternatives to the Provari that are a small fraction of the price. Start with Vaporbeast, is my suggestion. They have a lot of the better ones on the market including the VV Gripper which is like ~20% of the price ($55 compared to the ~$250 fully decked out) of the Provari, and it does the same thing. It also has a more durable finish. I've got many rubberized PVs and I have never scratched, dented, chipped, or otherwise marred them (and I beat the crap out of my gear). Plus there's a "bounce factor" which is always helpful. Drop a Provari on the concrete and show me that it's not scratched. I'd love to see that. The VV Gripper, if you care to look around, is well received by the people who own them. The only complaint is that they can run a little hotter than you set them at lower voltages, which the Provari of course does not do, but's it's not a big deal. It also has a 4 amp limit compared the Provari's 3.5amps which gives greater options in the field of low resistance multi-coil atomizers and high voltage. There are many reviews of it on YouTube as well. I'll be getting one here shortly.

If you do decide to order from Vaporbeast, tell them Shoga sent you and I bet you get a nice little bonus present or two in your order. Free shipping too btw - on all orders, of all sizes. What's not to love? I just wish they sold genuine Twists (they have knockoff Twists), and a couple other things, and they'd be my only vendor.

The money you save on a knockoff Twist is not worth it. I got one and it wouldn't Twist very well at all. Plus the knockoffs usually cap out at 900mah instead of 1000mah and that extra battery life is critical for me since I vape just over 900mah worth of battery life a day. I was stuck in a situation where I lost 3 batteries in a week (BAD WEEK!) and was left with only one knockoff Twist while I awaited my order and it died before the night was over and I was forced to charge it while I just wanted to vape. What a bad week that was. I just want to forget it!

I purchased a MyGo from aquavaper as well. I got it last Thursday and just sent it back yesterday. The threads were too loose to hold most of my atomizers and tanks. Even the Ego adapter and Vivi Nova tank it came with didn't screw into it. Now I need to wait another couple of weeks as the unit makes a trip back to them, they verify that it's crap, and then send me a new one. 3 weeks plus $7 in additional shipping makes the deal less than stellar. And when I called the vendor, they picked up the phone, but hadn't responded to any of my online support tickets. Just know you are getting a poor quality unit. As I've read more, the threads are common quality issue with this unit.

I loved the resistance check and it worked really well on the Phoenix where I could get the last 2 threads to catch. In the meantime, I'm back to Ego Twist.

And another proves that what I say is true. A knockoff is NOT worth it. They look good on the site, they seem good on paper, and then you get them home and a different story is revealed. Don't go through all that trouble. There is a reason the Twist is the #1 seller on the market, it works... and well.

When I started vaping over 7 months ago I started with a KGO. It had 1100 mah which was 100 more mah than an eGo, and it had an output of 4.18v. I thought, what's not to love about that? Well, the average eGo battery is supposed to last 10 months before it needs to be replaced. Alternating use, every other day, that's 1 year 8 months. Mine BOTH died last month within a week of each other (that's about 3 months of life each, instead of the prescribed 10). I can still repair one, but it's BS that I have to. The other thing is, all of the atomizers on the market were designed for lower or higher voltage than that, so for a few months, before I got my Twist, I was getting garbage hits. It makes me wonder how I was able to quit like that. Additionally, the KGO has air intake vents that are inferior to eGo and the draw on ALL of the atomizers I've ever used has been too stiff by comparison. It's always the little things that get you. So I've owned 3 knockoffs, and 0 of them have come close to the real deal.
