I was hoping there was more information available on the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/65055-battery-voltages-surprise.html thread, but I couldn't find specifics.

I have quite a collection of eGo-type batteries now, and of all of them, the Riva SE's quickly bubbled to the top as my favorites. After putting them on a meter (fresh off charger) I got some numbers I didn't expect:

Riva SE - 4.21v
Older model Riva - 4.01v
Regular Ego - 3.45v

I really, really like these new Riva SE's, and they rock with the new LR tank atty's. I've been previously unimpressed with the tanks flavor and vapor output in general, but this new combo really shines for me.

I'm hoping these batts aren't a fluke, but aside from Liberty Flights, who else is stocking these new batts?

As I mentioned in the Battery Voltages thread (and many other places)... just measuring the unloaded voltage of any of these batteries is essentially a waste of time. Unloaded voltage, especially on a unit with adaptive PWM, doesn't really tell you anything.

That being said.. I am also using the LR Tank with the "SE style" battery and am finding it to be much to my liking!

Yeah, I get that my numbers won't be totally accurate from a simple unloaded voltage test, but I was suspicious of the voltage output before I even put them on the meter, so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy when I felt the Riva SE was hitting much better than my other batts.

Now, who else has these things? LF is out of stock, and I hate having to get all my supplies from only one source for that very reason...

I know I read somewhere (I thought it was the thread I linked in my top post, but now I can't find the info), that the Riva SE is more akin to a straight up battery mod, in as much as it will put out max voltage off the charger (4.2'ish) and then fall off over time until it hits the cutoff.

I'm ok with that so far. After 3 days of constant use, I'm getting almost an entire day off a single batt before I'm dropping it on the charger...

What exactly should I look for on Liberty Flights for the Riva SE? I don't see anything listed as Riva SE - Also, I know the LR means it burns hotter, but does that mean better vapor production?

From what I've read most, if not all of the Rivas that are being sold now are of the higher voltage variety. LF sells the EM Riva which seems to be one of the more highly regarded Rivas. All of them are the higher v as far as I know.

Personally, these unregulated batts are too much power for me using low resistance attys/cartos. Yes, they produce more heat and more vapor, and mimic a real cig a bit better. They also go through juice faster and don't last as long so you'll be buying attys and batteries more often. MY sweet spot for these are with equipment that runs 2.3-3.0 ohms on them.

I get all the vapor I need this way. I'm not looking to mimic an analog. Those things sucked and destroyed my lungs. I just need something that tastes good, has a nice amt of vapor, and delivers nicotine. That's what I get in this setup, and it's not too bulky or expensive.

Everybody is different so it's probably a good idea to order something low resistance to try out and see if that is what you prefer.

Different voltages with different eGo's?
I got this eGo kit recently and am fairly happy for the most part... but...

Both of mine measure around 3.8v with a 2.6ohm clearo (unloaded: around 4.1v). And this isn't "hot off the charger" numbers, either. The reason I thought this was odd was that everywhere I look, it seems eGo's are supposed to be in the 3.3-3.4 range...

Good? Not really for someone used to KR8's - I immediately found it very easy to burn the crud out of just about any fluid if I hit them like I do with my KR8's... so my vaping style is very different from one set of batts to another.

EDIT: Wait a second, is the term "eGo" brand specific (like "Jell-o" vs "gelatine" - or - "Jacuzzi" vs "hot tub")? Or is it just the style designation made by several different manufactures?

Yeah, most Rivas are unregulated 3.7v (possible exception is Hello). If you want regulated to ~3.4v you should get the Joye/Janty/Tornado (and maybe Hello) version. The one you posted is made by Smok Tech. It seems many of the Rivas are now calling it ego, but it is just the ego form factor they are referring to. Read the link in the OP above starting in January for more info on this.

Interestingly, I find the Rivas a bit to strong for the first hour until it loses a bit of power and then it is nice for most of the rest of its' time until it gets close to cutoff. I have a Janty ego and it is a bit too weak at the start but doesn't get much weaker. So I guess my preferred voltage is somewhere between 3.5-3.7v. The Riva gets into that sweet spot range for most of its life. I wish somebody would make a low cost, small form factor vv mod with a range of say 3.3-3.8v loaded. I would be all over it! :)
