Hi all,

I was hoping one of you could help me with my issue. I've already read countless posts on the ego-t system and how to clean it to no avail. Here's my dilemma:

A couple of weeks ago I split an ego-t set with my mom. As soon as I started vaping it, it tasted like burnt plastic - I read here that you need to blow out the primer - I did, and nada. Then I read about putting the atty in a pepsi bottle top (forgot who posted that one). I shook it like mad with hot water, blew into it, then let it dry overnight. That plastic taste was still ever present.

Now I was really getting mad because my mom's unit was working perfectly (and she didn't do a darn thing to it). So I decide to order another atty.... Well that atty was nice for a while (like 3 days) then it started to get really hard to "suck." vaping was the equivalent of trying to suck a frozen milkshake out of a small straw. So I rinsed the atty out with hot water and blew (like trying to inflate an airbed), rinsed, submerged in hot water, blew, left to dry overnight....

I feel like crying now, cause that new atty I just cleaned vapes like the old burnt tasting one, but it's still even hard to "suck." Oh, and of course every time I pop the tank out it leaks (I know that's pretty prevalent with the ego-t system) What the heck am I doing wrong? I'm desperate. I really feel like buying a whole different system (Go-Go?).

Btw, my mom's unit is working just fine...Grr...

Thanks!

I hope that an eGo-T tank user will also respond here. I'll just point out that you do not need to buy "a whole different system."

You've not mentioned any problems with the battery ... and that is what I would expect. I also have the eGo-T and I love the batteries, but I never use them with the tank/atty (which I don't like for reasons similar to those you stated). Instead I use them with cartomizers and drip tips. My two favorites are the Smok Tech mega dual coil and the LR 801 (which I use with a $1 510-to-801 adapter). Many other vapers love the Boge LR 510 cartos. [Links are to the lowest cost supplier I know of for the item: LiteCigUSA for the cartos; Good Prophets for the adapter. Both of them also are good sources for low-cost drip tips.]

And, instead of spending $60 for a Go-Go, you may want to consider getting the Ego Booster from Happy Vaper for the same price – to turn your 3.2V eGo-T battery into variable voltage (3.3-4.7V). Otherwise save your money to buy those cartomizers ... and, of course, e-liquid.

eGo-t tank (satisfied) user here, Don!

Since Don already explained what other options you have, I'll go straight to the tanks.

I've been lucky, I know. I've been using eGo-T atties (and 510-T) since late January and all of them are still alive. I never had a leak or any other problem (don't you just hate me?:p) Here's what I've learned.

Type B (cylinder-shaped) atties are much better than type A (cone-shaped). The draw is fuller and the taste is more pronounced. I tried both standard and LR; I prefer standard atties on 3.7v, the eGo (3.2-3.4v) work better with the LR ones.

I take a new atty out of its wrapper and insert it firmly into the atomizer until it snaps; then I give it a 180 deg turn. Then I take the tank out and inspect the hole--it has to be clean, no hanging chads. If there are chads, I remove them, gently. I fill the tank, reinsert it into the atty, and take a couple of gentle drags without activating the battery--just to ensure that there is plenty of juice in the atty before I start to vape. That's really all there is to it.

If you get a dry hit, take another drag without pressing the button. Dry atty is a kiss of death--it tastes awful. I have a feeling that that is what's happening in your case. Take slow, long puffs.

The primer that came in my atomizers was almost tasteless; I did blow it out, gently, but it really isn't necessary. If the draw is too tight, especially on the type A atties, remove the baffles from the top of the mouthpiece; you may need a paper clip to do that. Always make sure that your tank is pushed all the way down lest it will leak like a sieve... Some people believe that aligning the straight edges of the tank with the plate inside the atty improves the draw and prevents leaks. Try that do.

And whatever you do, don't fiddle with your atty--I believe that a lot of people have problems because they try to tinker with the wick and the plate (or put the thing in a bottle and shake ;)). Resist. I never did anything to any of my atties, ever....

I don't clean them much eithe. Once in a while I vape a tankful of unflavored and it keeps the coil in good shape. When I need to clean, I boil them in distilled water for 10-15 minutes (fully submerged in water) in a microwave, then a soak in vodka, a few hours, let them dry, then a quick dry burn until the coil glows orange, another rinse with vodka and they are as good as new.

Hope this helps.
