Hey all,

I've been vaping since early 2009 and thought it was past time for me to become active in the community that has taught me so much over the last few years! Especially now that I have a little more time..

I've seen lots of suggestions for cleaning the atties but none show results. I decided I would take that on in a somewhat scientific way. I am currently putting together videos showing how to disassemble the unit for cleaning. I'm also looking at general cleaning using crest mouthwash, and ultrasonic cleaning using a variety of liquids and temps. Before I get way into this I wanted to check to see if others would be interested in the results and what you would like to see as a cleaner/cleaning method to be reviewed for effectiveness?

Thanks!

I did alot of reserch on that too, I have the ego T type A, I have tried everything from water to boiling the atty's and one day got tired of none of those methods really working 100%. What I did was remove the bridge + wick, then run it under hot water for a couple minutes, blow out the remaining water and voila!

Now I ended up leaving the bridge and wick out and dripping. Works better then when it was new, the only thing to watch out for is dry burning cause' without the wick it dries quickly. If you don't mind dripping its worth a try.

araczynski - Any specific cleaning method? Just soak and dry? A problem with using rubbing alcohol and ultrasonic cleaning is the possibility of ignition.. Looks cool when something just appears to self ignite - until the house burns down.

hehe, i'm guessing caked on juice gunk turned to soot cleans off much easier though :)

soak and dry doesn't do much unless perhaps you do it every day, at which point the device isn't worth the hassle. in the past i've tried soaking in vinegar/alcohol for anywhere between an hour to a day, all i ever really accomplished was making the paint peel :) but not the gunk :(

boiling wasn't too effective either, for me.

kind of why i went to cartomizers, at a buck a piece, i can throw one out after 4 weeks and could care less about cleaning it.

The lady from Cignot posted a video a while back on how to clean an ego atty on you tube, when i was at there store i was lucky enough to get a personal demonstration.

Yeah, her video is good for a quick clean. Problem is you have no control over the wick when pulling the top off. It winds up eventually falling to bits. There is also no way to clearly see/get to the element at the end of the tube for more complete cleaning. How I clean my eGo-t atty... or... Sunday morning at Vicky's kitchen sink - YouTube

This video is what got me wondering exactly how he took it apart. EGO-T Atomizer Disassembly - YouTube
