eGo-t, Wiltons, harshness.....

i got off the ecig for a while cause i embarked on a DIY juice kick in order to save money. but it never really worked out. the bottle of unflavored nic juice i got had a horrible sharp taste to it. and since real cigs tasted better than the juice i was making i went back to old ways...

so i just bought an eGo-T tank system... i love the idea of this, and the design is a good one. but im havin some serious problems with leaking. i started out using the prefilled tanks that came with the kit. and the flavor was fantastic. but yeah shortly after using it, juice was everywhere.

so i decided to add some Wiltons (vegetable) Glycerin to the juice to thicken it up a bit. i have always used this for my DIY juice... but im noticing now that after mixing it in, that maybe the Wiltons VG also contributed to the bad taste and the harsh vape.


i guess im just wondering if anyone else has had these experiences with Wiltons. im still not 100% sure about this tank system. i like the idea.. but one turn off to ecigs before was having to constantly f#$% with them to get them to work. i put some blue foam in the tank after filling it up, and it did keep it from leaking longer than without foam... but it still ended up flooding into my battery...

I would suggest reading the Model Specific thread for eGo's. There is a lot of discussion in there about the wicking. If your juice is leaking you need to tug the wick up a little so it doesn't wick so fast.

The harshness you are experiencing probably is not related to the VG you added. It sounds like now the juice isn't wicking fast enough and you are getting the burnt harshness of a dry atty. Try putting a couple of drops directly onto the wick and see if this fixes the problem.

They are a great concept and idea, they just need to be put back on the drawing board

I would be surprised if the VG had anything to do with a bad taste. My usual mix is 80%PG/20%VG. One time I switched it around the opposite way, and all I noticed was that it was a little sweeter, I had to add a little PGA and more flavoring.

I have an eGo-T with type A tanks, never had a leak.

Did see another thread that the type B tanks sometimes have some problems with leakage.
It was suggested to try the rubbery type of tanks caps for a better seal.

You know, come to think of it, I do have a MAP tank - decreased the flavor too much for me, and it leaked when I laid it down. It's in storage along with mhy Tekkeon - neither of which I cared much for. I wonder if the decrease in flavor might be the problem along with the taste of rubber from the seals.

it was definitely the VG that gave a harshness. i tried it in many of my other atomizers and it all produced the same effect. even when direct dripping. ive since switched brands to NOW 100% pure vegetable glycerin (sold at whole foods) and it works much better.

i remembered reading about the silicone caps and i bought some my freedom smokes, but they do not fit my atomizer that i got from cignot. the cartridges are a tad too long and will not fit all the way down into place >=/

I too use the NOW brand of VG. But I use very VG, b/c it makes me cough and gives me rather intense chest pains. I'm going to try to cut my 20% down to 10% and see if I still get enough vapor.
