Love this "for dummies" thread, so here I go:

This is day one for me. I've never used an atty. I followed the video at Volcano's site for clean out the primer before use and it worked beautifully. I'm getting lots of vapor, but low flavor.
Now my question(s).

Do you remove the tank and atty from the battery when not in use?
When charging the battery, do you remove the tank from atty?
How often do you clean the atty?

Thank you :)

I answer a lot of those questions on my blog (link is in my sig), but I'll tell you here as well :)

I don't remove the tank or atty from the battery unless I'm going to charge it.
During charging, my atty goes on my second battery, so No, I don't remove it then, either.
I clean my atties every 4-7 days, depending on when they need them. As soon as the draw gets hard, or flavor/vapor production is suffering.

I usually only do a hot water cleaning, using my bottle method (forget the link, but it's in the eGo forum), unless I have been using dark juice, in which case I do the bottle, then alcohol soak, 24 hour dry time, and a dry burn to get rid of the burned flavor.

I'm enjoying mine very much, and ordered a second one. The only issue I'm still having is that chad thing...I took the cap back off and used some small jewelry pliers to twist the chad off. The second cart I tried after puncturing it first with the atty was even harder to do that. Little buggers are stubborn for me! Don't know if my atty spike is short or what but it isn't poking out that hole well. I don't want to weaken the cap but that hole being too closed over can be a problem.

Ah hah! I was still having odd airflow problems and guess what? I took the tank tip and inner panel off and lo and behold, there was a loose chad stuck in there. Now I remove the chad before using a new tank each time. And BTW, I'm with you on "clocking" the tip. On mine, it clearly makes a difference in airflow.

Sometimes I think my T-tank is not working right or the atty needs cleaned because of a lack of vapor or taste and then I switch to a fresh battery and it works great. If you put it up to your ear and press the button you will here a nice hiss, so If you are having problems put it up to your ear and if you do not hear a good strong hiss, change batteries before you clean or mess with it, just to see if it was the battery.
