Brand new vaper here. I received my 2 Mini Novas and 2 Ego Twists in the mail Saturday afternoon from Got Vapes. I also ordered a couple of 30 ml bottles of randomly chosen tobacco flavored juices.

All I can say is that I now consider myself to be a non-smoker after about 40 yrs of 1-2 PAD Marlboro Lights. This stuff is really good and I've had no desire to light one up.

This set-up is incredibly simple, even for a total novice. I didn't get a box or instructions of any sort. It was intuitively obvious how to put this thing together. The one thing that's not obvious is the 5 clicks needed to turn the battery on and off. Just a little reading around this site while waiting on my order taught me that.

It may not be the greatest vape in the world but it's all I know. If other things are even better, then I look forward to learning about them. Based on my limited experience, I'd highly recommend the Twist/Mini Nova combination for any new vaper.

Dave...

Dave, WELCOME, and WAY TO GO!

This is a fantastic thread IMO, in part because it now contains a SECOND EPIC first-time post.

To me, you just underscored a point that I've been crusading about for quite a while. The first setup anyone gets doesn't have to be (the unattainable) "perfect", and neither, IMO, should it be the unnecessarily sub-par "constant voltage", which IMO need only be endured if the beginning vaper must absolutely, positively have a ciggie look-alike. Even then, given the thousands of dollars a year that they have previously spent on cigarettes, I'd love to see every person who gets a look-alike also get a couple of VV eGo-class batteries, a charger, a Vivi Nova tank, and a box of five 2.0 ohm single coil cartomizers. We're talking about $80 or so; just over a week of smoking a PAD here in CT.

VV increases the chances of enjoying vaping, and therefore the chances of abandoning cigarettes. As I've said before, anyone who disagrees is IMO obligated to make the case that CV increases the enjoyment of vaping. I think that's a tough case to make.

And thank you for saying how simple that setup to use; when I hear people say that operating a Twist - or a Spinner - will "confuse a beginner", I do worry about the future of the human race.

No, that is not the "best" vape you can get. But it's what I'm using right now, and I enjoy it, and I do not enjoy smoking, which I haven't chosen to do in over a year now. Not even a puff. Don't want to.

Like you, I'm looking forward to getting a better and better vape, at whatever pace I feel like. Right now, I'm busy doing other things, and my vape is just fine. When I get a chance, I'll read and follow the huge thread on modifying the Vivi Nova:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ystems/295410-vivi-nova-rebuild-tutorial.html

For now, I'm just going to continue to do what I can to encourage people to get past the desire to have a look-alike, get a VV setup as well if they can't, and just vape on something "very good" while they look for "the best".

And again, your testimony as a beginner speaks louder in some very important ways than anything anyone else might say, and I thank you for saying it.

Again, welcome to the forum - and to your new life.

Silicone Cap-the flat interior piece needs to be placed down. Which side is down? Is down the side that points to the battery and up the side that that points to the mouthpiece?

Yes, the flat side points towards the head/bottom of the tank/battery and the cup shape faces up towards the lid/drip tip.

For $80 you could find a Lava Tube ((ET AL ALL THE KNOCK-OFFS)sorry for all caps) Starter Kit. You could eek out maybe a 10ml bottle of liquid with that also. I mean why bother with a simple Twist if you can get alot more 'OOOOMPF' with the Amperage of a big Batt? But you will also need something to hold the juice - and I dunno if you could do Get a Vivi with that much money?

On second thought too you could probably get a few VV Kgos in your budget and they go in .1s from 3-6 volts.

I don't think that this whole "what to buy first" thing is a choice between either A) eGo-class VV batteries or B) the more advanced devices. I think the eGo VV's are a very good way to go because there it seems to me unlikely that there is any one device - or class of devices - that will suit all vapers all of the time. An eGo-class VV will IMO suit a wider range of uses than a more advanced PV, and will very likely be found among the assortment of gear owned by an advanced vaper. I have some fancier stuff, and I use my Twists almost all of the time.

Yes, you get better battery life and digital readouts with the fancier stuff - and can now get VV and VW in a single device with the Smoktech ZMax; and yes, a ProVari V2 will last longer, and have less voltage drop under load, and look nicer ..... but I think that the actual vape from a Spinner, a Twist, or a kGo VV will be so very similar to the vape from a fancier PV that I can't see recommending them as a starting point.

And really - why start out with just 10ml of juice, and a good version of a LavaTube? That's kind of like being in a firefight with a very good weapon and running out of ammo.

I certainly don't want to be confrontational for its own sake, but I felt a need to express these sentiments. No hard feelings I hope.

And here he is again ... you know him, you love him, you can't get enough of him, so let's all give him a great big hand ... Grimm Green!!! (yay!)

Due to the abundance of info (forums, guides, etc) vaping can be so very difficult for a beginner starting out from scratch with zero knowledge. Once your orders arrive, you will see just how easy all of this is.

I think I was getting great vapes within 5 minutes of putting the pieces together. In fact, going to the corner store for smokes is more difficult than setting up your vape kit.

Is the general consensus to press the button for 3 seconds to create vape? I like to get a strong throat hit and I find I need to press the button a little over 5 seconds to achieve it In summary,

I am loving my PV and have many people on this forum to thank When buying bottle juices like Dekang, what is the standard mix most companies use(PG VG)

I am ready to create my own juices to save money.

I am a real real noobie, and am still trying to sort out what to use; but I dont understand why people are mentioning gotvapes as a legit seller if the joyetech website lists gv as unauthorised.. this isnt helping me to find a vendor to buy from at all!!

NY - What gear do you have now, if any, and can you give us any idea of what you think you want as far as size goes?

If an eGo-class battery suits you, please read my post in this thread, that has links to other threads, that I think will help you out.

I picked up a eGo Mop Head Clearomizer from HHV as well as the juices. I love the Vision Vivi Nova, but wanted to try something new. Earlier in this thread I posted about buying a knockoff Vivi Nova not realizing it was fake. The wicks on this fake were horrible. My main advice would be to make sure the Vivi Nova is made by Vision. It seems many vendors do no disclose that it is a knockoff and use clever write ups to advertise the product. In fact, I have seen more vendors with knockoff Vivis than the real ones.

UPDATE Noobs should read

Order from Highbrow Vapor came in today. I had really put off researching juice since getting the hardware was my first priority. However, I have my set up complete and have been reviewing the juice vendors. Up until today, I have only had juice from 3 vendors that mainly sale hardware and have a little section for juices. I have been pleased but mainly with the whole aspect of vaping.

So, I fill my Vivi up with some Cappuccino Diablo 80/20 mix powered by the trusty Ego Twist. Wow, I had no idea juice could get this good. This is a quality product. I can't describe tastes of wine, food, beer, coffee etc. very well so I will not. I will say the flavor is complex. I fired up the Belgium Waffle and same tasty complex flavor.

Since I suck at describing tastes, I will point out the difference between a quality juice versus something else.

I compare it with some Maxwell House coffee in a drip machine versus my home roasted beans from Kona, ground 3-5 minutes before using a french press. You could go your whole life drinking Maxwell House and think it is just fine until you try someones coffee who has roasted it 2-3 days ago, used a quality grinder, and used a French Press. The difference is immense.

So with this juice you obviously get a much more flavorful taste that is complex, full, rich, organic. It leaves a pleasant after taste. The throat hit and vape seem more 'cigarette' like. It may just be the mix, but the cloud is more dense. The juice seems to last longer. I was burning through the other brands with gusto, but you really have to be at this a while before your tank starts to lower.

One must really clean their tank out well as it doesn't wash out very easily. You can still smell some faint notes after a heavy rinsing so I implemented dry burning.

I would actually look forward to sitting down with Highbrows juice and vaping. I spilled a drop of Cap. Diablo in my bathroom and did not clean it up. When I went to take a shower several hours later, my bathroom smelled of Cap Diablo which is pleasant.

I believe Highbrows juice is cheaper than one of the lower quality brands I was using, but I find most vendors around the same price anyway. Highbrow is cool because you customize your flavor and they give you notes on what you might want more of or leave the same for each flavor which is a nice feature. I now got to experience why they are consistently in the top ten of most peoples vendors

I don't think any of the previous juices make it as you order since they do not state that so I assume it is wholesale Chinese juice repacked or some quick recipe. I am not sure how it is done.

I hope someone finds my review insightful and encourages them to stop spending so much time regarding hardware when researching as the juice is just as important, if not more.

Welcome , and I have to fully agree with the Ego "Twist" or even a KGO VV , about the same money . Kgo is a bit easier to use . The mini Vivi Nova is the proper size for either the Ego , or the Kgo . I have both , as well as both sizes of the Vivi's and enjoy all of them . As said earlier , you need to have a backup , as soon as you can afford it , and it's a Ego specific charger that's used on the Ego's . The Kgo is also a passthrough device 9 Charges from a USB port on your computer , and can be used while it's charging . They come with the cable needed for charging/passthrough . They're about 30.00 at Hoosier Supply . Sounds like you did your researce in advance . Good for you .

Will - Glad to hear you're vaping nicely, and you're so right; once the weaponry is all squared away, it's all about the "ammo".

Nice review; I'm definitely going to try some of the juice; I'm a huge "coffee hound" anyway. :)

http://www.joyetech.com/about/copycat.php..

After seeing your post about how happy you were, I went to joyetech's site and found Got Vapes to be unauthorized.. why are you recomending them if joyetech isnt!?

I am a real real noobie, and am still trying to sort out what to use; but I dont understand why people are mentioning gotvapes as a legit seller if the joyetech website lists gv as unauthorised.. this isnt helping me to find a vendor to buy from at all!!

And don't sweat this stuff about Gotvapes; that's where Phil Busardo gets his Vivi Novas, and it's where I tell people to get them. Don't know what's up with the "Unauthorized" bit on the Joyetech website, and don't care. Could be old news anyway.

Vaping is going great so far and I am vaping all day every day. Just put in an order for some juices at HHV. I am trying out a .... load of juices. What are some good tobacco suggestions? I have been buying mostly fruity stuff.

So Far from HHV my favorites are Pirate's Booty and Serendipity. Dragon's Fire and Huntsman are also very good.
I have Gandalf, Shadowfax, and Gollum in the bull pin steeping.

I know I ordered Seredipity, RY4, Methol Ice, Cherry Blast, and 5 more which I can't remember. Very much so looking forward to them since they seem to be a fav as well.

Right now I am vaping some Strawberry Lemonade from Highbrow which is amazingly good. Strawberry on inhale and lemonade on exhale.

John D in CT,
What up homie? Do you roast your own beans? If you have a grinder, I am can send you some of mine.

Get 2 twists, a charger, a couple of vivi minis, some juice, and (optional, but kind of important) a case. You also might want to get a couple of short cone adapters or sleeves. They aren't necessary, but they kind of complete the unit, covering the base of the tank and the base of the battery. Purley form....good luck.
