Ego-twist.... Is it one brand or a type?

Hello all,
l've been reading some topics on this forum and wow, it's quite the active community! Mostly I'm looking at discussions on e-juices and equipment, what works and what doesn't. But I'm so new I don't even understand all the lingo. I got my e-cig at a brick and mortar e-cig store; a Joytech "ego-t upgrade"... That's what it says on the battery part. The mouth piece/delivery system (I'm sure there's a word for that too), has a "V" on it... It's just what it came with, plus for the second e-cig (it came with two), I bought a "cartomizer" which from what I understand doesn't leak like the other one can. It says "1.7" and is followed by a sort of upside down horse shoe. What is that?! A lot of people seem to have an "ego twist". Is that a type of tank or does it refer to the Joytech brand specifically? I'd like to know these things so I can play around with different systems. I'm vaping but still smoking. I'm getting jealous of those who say they quit smoking almost immediately. I still find that in the morning and evening I want a real cig. Anyway, thanks for any help this newbie can get!

Genuine eGo-C Twist is made by Joyetech, its the battery just like an eGo-T. eGo-C Twist is variable voltage, you can adjust it between 3.2volts and 4.8volts. eGo-T is constant voltage 3.7volts. Upside down horseshoe is called ohms, which is a fancy word for Resistance. 1.7ohms is low resistance which is better for eGo type batteries.

Ego twist is a joytech branded product but there are countless knock offs, and some are just as good as the joytech if not better. You will have a hard time figuring out who made some of them. Ego threaded devices are the most popular and for the most part interchangeable regardless of who made it. My advice is to make sure you buy from a reputable vendor. Good luck with your journey.

eGo is a type of battery. Pretty much all brand names are the same, just different quality. Twist means you can dial the voltage in. Twist it up or down.

The 1.7 most likely means the Ohm rating in the tank part. There are many different types of tanks, (tanks are what you put the liquid in), you will have to try many different ones to find what right for you.

The battery is the power supply to power up the tank. Its the tank that gives you the vapor, lots of brands there.

The eGo battery has threads to accomodate an eGo type tank and a 510 type, so switching out different tanks is easy. When you see "510 threaded or eGo threaded don't worry both will fit your battery

Probably a Vision. They use a "V" logo. It look like this?

It's just what it came with, plus for the second e-cig (it came with two), I bought a "cartomizer" which from what I understand doesn't leak like the other one can.

Wellll... clearomizers (like in the pic above) aren't all that prone to leaking. And, also, my cartomizers were actually worse about it. But neither clearos (clearomizers) nor cartons (cartomizers) are all that prone to leakage. Unless they're defective and the vendor maybe oughta exchange them. "Leakage" for me, using Vision clearos, amounts to, a drop on the battery contacts I gotta wipe off before attaching the battery to charger. Nothing dramatic.

It says "1.7" and is followed by a sort of upside down horse shoe. What is that?!

Probably the resistance rating which is measured in "Ohms". The symbol looks like an upside down horseshoe. Also, if you're new and inexperienced, a 1.7 ohm is kinda low. Low resistance stuff can be great if you like lots and lots of vapor and a warmer vape but it can also drain your batteries like crazy and you can fry juices (also the coil in the carto).

You'll see people abbreviate things as "SR" for standard resistance and "LR" for low resistance. I can't, myself, recommend a person just starting out use a low resistance anything. You should be up in the 2.2 to 2.8 ohm range. Somewhere in there. To start.

A lot of people seem to have an "ego twist". Is that a type of tank or does it refer to the Joytech brand specifically?

"eGo" is a style or standard for batteries and widely supported in the vape world. The Twist is one of Joyetech's eGo style batteries. It's a "variable voltage" type that lets you change voltage (and, so, the warmth of the vape) using a dial at the bottom (so, you know, "twist"). Vision makes the Spinner and other companies have versions (I think SmokTech does the "Winder"?).

I use Twists myself. I like being able to adjust the warmth of the vape for different liquids. It can change the taste.

I'd like to know these things so I can play around with different systems. I'm vaping but still smoking. I'm getting jealous of those who say they quit smoking almost immediately. I still find that in the morning and evening I want a real cig. Anyway, thanks for any help this newbie can get!

Ah, I did that for a while too. Not everybody quits the first day. I still sometimes catch myself wanting a cig after eating. Not a strong urge but it's there. Well, not all the time but enough I notice. And that "first cig in the morning"? That took about a month before I stopped that. Seemed for a while, I needed a "boost" of nicotine then could "coast" for hours on vaping. Took me a good six weeks or so to stop smoking completely. I cut way, way back right off then sort of "drifted down" over the next few weeks.

Hey, when it comes to smoking, less is better. "None" is ideal but "less" is a step in the right direction eh?

Hang in there with the urges. They will pass. Everyone is different but mine subsided in a few days. After meals and before going to sleep were the worst times for me but they are all but gone now after only 9 days.

If you get a twist you can experiment with what wattage you like to vape at. 3.7 volts at 1.7 ohms is perfect to me. I'd reccomend staying with vision and joy. They have the best quality control i think. The trick to quitting is finding the right juice. Eventually the cigs will taste awful. At least that what happened to me about a month in. Get back up batteries, clearomizers, and clearomizer heads and your set. Swap the heads out when it starts tasting burnt. The vocab comes in time.

Could not have said it better Griff!!

Postergirl: If you want a Joyetech to start off with, then go here. I got two black ones, and they are legitimate Joyetech. They're not 'knock offs' (some company that is copying them just to make a buck)

Joye eGo-C TWIST 1000mAh XL Variable Voltage Battery [JOYEEGOCTWST1000BAT] - $27.99 :

IF you choose the Joyetech battery from the link above, you'll also need the two products below to go along with it.

Holy majoly these are some great replies! Thanks everyone! So, let's see:

-I'm pretty sure I don't have a "twist" in the sense that there is no way for me to vary the voltage. Maybe that's what I'll get next... it might be fun to see if I like a warmer vape (that's what it does?).
-MKBILBO, you gave a wealth of info, so cool! The pic you posted, yes, that's what I have (Vision)... as the mouthpiece/juice holder... ok, I know, I know, I need to get with the lingo. Clearomizer. And, I will ask for one with a higher ohm when I go to the store again, which will be soon.

I'll figure it all out eventually I'm sure. I can see though that it might be easy to spend quite a bit of money to start, to try flavors, different tanks, etc. I don't min - I'm sure in the long run I'll save money by not buying real cigs.

You'll want to ask for a 1.5 to 2.0 ohm clearomizer. not a higher ohm, higher takes more voltage to heat up which will end up giving you a poor experience with eGo style batteries.

Welcome! I started vaping about a week ago, and am already soaking up quite a bit of knowledge from this forum and other websites I manage to stumble upon. You will pick it up quick. When I walked into a vape shop for the first time last week, I felt lost... for me, it's been hit or miss on how helpful the person behind the counter will be (usually depending on how busy the shop is at the moment), so I've done A LOT of research. Started out with the eGo-S starter kit, and purchased an iTaste SVD a couple of days ago (I'm kinda hooked on the hobby aspect already, in case you couldn't tell) and am having a blast learning about all of the different mods. I have four gas station style e-cigs and had almost given up hope of something replacing analogs until a friend had me try his eGo... glad I wasn't too skeptical to give it a chance!

Ah, you'll catch up on the jargon soon enough. :)

Low resistance is fine and a lot of folks love it. Me, my impulse is to steer new folk to standard. Throwing charts and Ohm's Law at people when they're just getting started is a bit much. And frying a juice can make it taste really bad. Not to mention the fun of having little hot droplets go "pop" and hit your tongue. I've done that. It's... entertaining. :)

One way to save some money is find some good online vendors. What cartos I use, I get from here: Boge 510. VV is local to me and does really, really fast shipping so I can page First Class shipping and get things overnight (cheaper than driving into the city even :) ). They also have Vision clearos for $5 and the coil heads (the little heater with the stringy looking wicks... those do burn out eventually, not fast but eventually) for $3. ECF has a Forum Supplier section you can browse and find known, reputable folk.

I mean, having a local shop is good. Having a place to run to if you have problems so somebody can show you what's what is nice. But as you get more experienced and know exactly what you like and want, you can shop around and save some cash.

And once you get rolling, you can save a lot. Money's tight for me right now. I have to be careful. I'm squeaking by at around $30 a month right now. Like a tenth what cigs cost me.

I mean, you can spend a lot. Some folks turn vaping into a hobby. If that keeps 'em away from smoking, more power to 'em. And you can tell, they are having fun. :) Not to mention, when you think about the cost to your health that smoking brings, vaping probably couldn't get anywhere close even if you "squandered" money. Getting cancer just ain't cheap eh?

But, yeah, at first, you have to make an investment of a kind. Though a lot of it will be on durable stuff. Like the batteries. They're rated at a good 300 "charge cycles". I have to charge mine about once a day so that means they could easily last around a year. Twists cost no more than around $30. Get 300 days, that's 10 months so... $3 a month? That ain't bad.

And, yeah, cigs cost. A lot. And more all the time. Texas used to be cheaper but even they've boosted it to $6.50 and up a pack. I lived in LA a while and I know CA had high taxes on cigs. I'm sure they've only gotten higher...

Too Much Information Alert! In-Coming! [

omg, that's an awesome pictorial...mucho thanks! I'll be getting a spinner next. And god knows what else. I've been on this forum for hours now.

(ok, I know I just deleted something vital in order to get your quote in there but you get the idea).

Uh oh! I've been exposed! Now you know where I get so much of my stuff!

:D

The Ocelot's one of our resident gurus. Taught me a ton...

Once again, thanks so much for all the great info. When I first ordered my first e-cig, it was a starter kit by V2, and probably like a lot of newbies, I wanted it to look like a cigarette so I got the one does, and comes with pre-filled, small filter-looking atomizers. It just didn't do the trick for me; and then I just happened to notice that a Digital Ciggz store had just opened up in my town and went in there and got the Joytech (I think that's the only brand they carry). They're super friendly and I do like having that brick and mortar for the very reason you said, just to help me out now at the start. The Internet can be overwhelming, too much to choose from. But as I get going, I'm sure Ill make more and more purchases (of juices especially) online.
