I have been out of the loop for awhile. After being nic free for a long time, I recently picked up the nasty habit again and want to get back to vaping. My old eGo's and my Rivas are dead and I'm looking for a new unit. I'm interested in a VV but I don't really want to spend a ton of money on an expensive mod. My price point is around $100 but less is better.

I'm thinking about picking up an eGo Twist but am open to any and all suggestions. I don't care what it looks like, how big it is, etc. I just want a really nice vape with a strong throat hit. I started out dipping with my Pilot and then dripping with my eGo. The last set of atomizers only lasted a couple of days on my PT. I think I went through 5 of them in a few days. I was ...... about that LOL.

Tonight I pulled out my USB PT and have a carto on it. I've never really figured out how to fill them with juice and get a good hit off of it though. I'm not too happy with it. I feel like I always got a better vape when I dripped directly on an atty. Maybe things have improved in the ecig world by now though.

If anyone can help me set up an eGo Twist and tell me where to purchase it, I would appreciate it. I read in another thread where somebody recommended a clearomizer and a cartomizer to go with the twist. What is a clearomizer and is it used with an atty or a carto?

Also, if you recommend something else can you make sure you tell me which items I need to buy. I am not familiar with ohms and LR, etc. My sister is thinking about getting the new lavatube and I wonder if that is a better choice?

I think it's clouds if vapor that has an awesome twist starter kit for $99. I'll check when I get home and post a link

it is
Ultimate Starter Kit
includes cartos, a tank, an atty, a clearomizer, 2 twists, juice, 1 ego tank/cartridge system, some free juice, and a nice case.

edit: it's out of stock though. clearomizers are a fillerless cartomizer that you fill with ~3ml of liquid and it wicks it into a coil. certain people love them, certain people hate them.

That's actually a pretty decent kit.

I'm also a veteran noob, have been meandering back and forth from vaping to smoking the past couple years, but for some reason just have not bought any cigarettes in a couple weeks now and have been solely vaping. I've recently started using clearomizers (got a couple Sunfires) and just ordered a Twist to see how I like vv devices. I have a slew of eGo equipment already, so it was an easy decision to go for a Twist. If I like it as much as I hope, I will most likely get a Lavatube or something comparable here soon.

I have a 510-T, a Provari mini, Ego-C's, and Twists. From my own personal experience only, I would recommend the Twist with some Stardusts. I do use my Provari with a tank on it, but find myself reaching for my Twist/Stardust combo more often. The Twist are inexpensive, easy to hold and transport, and the Stardusts don't leak if you lay them down or throw them in your bag.

Everyone is different and this combo isn't right for everyone, but since you asked for a recommendation, this is mine. :)

Get a vivi nova 2.5 instead of stardusts. It doesn't leak and you can clean the heads. Stardust is a generic name and you need to know which version and how to deal with them. If you get a Smokeless Image "Stardust" it is a piece of crap knockoff and will leak and be trash. Search ECF for Stardusts--the people that use them and post here are the ones that get the best ones and care for them, lots of people think they are leaky crap. Clearos will burn up your cash -- the nova 2.5 is a good starting point.

Awesome starter kit for 99$? Thats not awesome at all...

You can get twists here for $22. 2 twists and chargers for $50 is pretty awesome.

For the nova 2.5 and long wick replacement heads. Good prices and cheap shipping.

Has the mini vivi nova which is sweet, the better stardusts which are rebuildable. Pick up a mini nova and a good 2.0 Stardust if you want and try them both.

They both have up sides and down sides. The Twist is obviously cheaper. I've heard complaints about the voltage not being consistent near the end of a charge, that's a small thing though. Ummmm, they come in different battery sizes. Obviously higher voltage will drain your battery faster. So if you end up liking it cranked, you'll want one of the bigger batteries for sure. The bigger Twists are a bit cumbersome, and I'd just as soon get a LT considering size.

The LT is obviously more expensive, and for you at least it's a downside. My personal experience with the LT (Chrome model for me) is that it's a really great mod for the price, and long as you don't screw it up. I managed to get juice inside mine and fry it. Not really sure how I managed that one >_< but I don't think it was a defect in the product, just my bad luck. For the non-chrome models, the endcaps are a bit flimsy. Good things, Like most mods the batteries aren't a part of the piece, therefore when one dies you can just pop a new one into the device and keep on vaping. The LT obviously has a greater range than the Twist too.

Which is better absolutely depends on your vaping preference and budget. Quite honestly, though I personally love the LT (I need to get a new one....) it doesn't sounds like something that'd be ideal for you. A LT kit, depending on where you buy it, would be hitting the high end of your budget restraint. The Twist, I'm sure you could have that for around $30-$40. Since you're not really experienced with VV and you have no idea what voltage you might like, I'd go with the Twist. Get some LR atties or whatever to simulate high voltage and see if you like it. You can always get the more expensive stuff in the future.

Thank you to everyone who posted in this thread. My sister will be waiting for the new lavatube. I've decided on the Twist mainly for the affordability factor. I do have a few more questions though.

1. Can I use my old school eGo battery charger on the 1000mah eGo Twist or do I need to buy a new one?

2. Are the mini nova and the vivi nova 2.5 the same thing except one holds more juice? If so, I think I will go with this one. (GotVapes Vision Mini ViVi Nova™ 2.5ml 2.4ohm) Is this correct?

3. Is the adapter (eGo Extender 510 - Outside Threaded for eGo Cone) I need to use the nova on my 5v 510 threaded PT? Will I need any adapter to use the mini nova on the Twist?

4. Which replaceable heads do I need to order? For the 5v PT which ones work and which ones for the Twist? Can someone tell me at which voltage for which head?

5. How long do the replaceable heads generally last? I'm trying to get an idea of how many to order.

I plan to order:
(1) Twist 1000mah battery.
(1) Mini Vivi Nova
(?) Replaceable heads in (?) sizes
(?) 510 adapter
(?) Battery charger

Am I missing anything? Thank you for all your help. It took me awhile to figure out these Stardust and Nova things were what I was supposed to order instead of an old school atomizer. I am so blonde.

I have no idea. I think mine is just an eGo charger (output is 4.2V @ 420mAh) and it's worked fine for weeks.

2. Are the mini nova and the vivi nova 2.5 the same thing except one holds more juice? If so, I think I will go with this one. (GotVapes Vision Mini ViVi Nova™ 2.5ml 2.4ohm) Is this correct?
I own both. they take the same heads and act very similar. I can't tell much of a difference except that the fit&finish of the full size vivi nova is better than the mini vivi nova. The tube feels better-made on the big one, mostly because the threads are cleaner. The MINI does have an adjustable center pin, while my full size (which might be a 2.0, not a 2.5) does not. My Full-size won't screw down all the way onto my ego twists, though with a thread cover to keep it from wobbling, still no shorts, no mis-fires, and no problems.

Other than that, they seem identical. And I like both of them. If it matters, I'll probably order more of both…but if I had to choose, I'd pick the bigger one……I just like the way it looks and feels on a twist better than the completely straight one.

3. Is the adapter (eGo Extender 510 - Outside Threaded for eGo Cone) I need to use the nova on my 5v 510 threaded PT? Will I need any adapter to use the mini nova on the Twist?
You don't need an adapter to use the vivi nova (full size or mini) on anything with a 510 thread. The 510 connection is not recessed, so you just screw it on. I have one of these to go with my mini nova and one of these to go with the full size. They make it look more complete and function as a lock screw to keep the full size vivi nova from wobbling because of the (minor) center pin issue mentioned above.

4. Which replaceable heads do I need to order? For the 5v PT which ones work and which ones for the Twist? Can someone tell me at which voltage for which head?
If the marketing materials are to be believed, the "best" head for the Twist is the 1.8Ω head. It's highest power output comes at Rideal = Vmax(4.8)/Imax(2.5) ~ 1.9Ω. That's what I use, and it works great. Turning it all the way up to 4.8V is very warm and would burn certain juice, but it gives you the highest power output that the Twist will do (~12W). On the bottom end, it goes down to a bit below 6W, which I think is pretty cool.

I can get the vape I want most of the time out of either, but I buy the 1.8Ω heads so far because I never go to the bottom of their range (the 2.4Ω will go to lower power set at 3.2V) and sometimes want things hotter than where the twist maxes out on the 2.4Ω head.

If that was too number-y, I'd say get some of the 1.8Ω and 2.4Ω heads and see which range you like better. The 1.8Ω head will be hotter.

With the 5V pass-through, your options for how hot you want your vape are just with the resistance of the atomizer head. I'd order the same resistance you're used to using on it, though some say that the vivi novas burn hot and that you'd want one step higher resistance. My experience does not match theirs.

5. How long do the replaceable heads generally last?
No idea. My first once lasted over a week before I ran out of that juice and swapped the head for a different juice……which apparently isn't necessary with these.

I like the 650mAh batteries better than the 1000mAh batteries (have used both)…the 1000s are too long to be comfortable IMHO…take a look at the dimensions. I'd also recommend getting 2 regardless of the size. A 1000mAh would not last me all day.

I think I have a pile of 11 heads sitting around (4 from 1 vendor, 3 from another, +2 in my mini and full, 1 in a baggie with an empty bottle of juice that needs to be reordered, and 1 waiting to be rebuilt if I get around to it). Cartos come in 5-packs, so that seems like a good quantity to order for no specific reason……however many you get, just remember to order more as soon as you install your last one unless you decide you don't like it.

Also, don't forget juice……always order juice.
