I recently picked up a 1000 mah Ego twist after reading some reviews here and catching some videos from PBusardo and Grimm Green. I've had them both since black friday but within a week i noticed the clearos i was given began to fizzle or leak so i purchased more before learning that i could clean and reuse or fix them. The first time i tried cleaning one the tank began leaking nonstop after and I'm pretty sure I dry burned a little too long. Now I am having an issue where both actually starting becoming noticeably hot even vaping at 3.2. When I went back to the shop i purchased them at the guy behind the counter told me to remove the stardust take it apart put it together and that would solve it. I went back today with the same issue and they exchanged one for me, which was great but in the end I am wondering, and fairly certain, that this could be my fault. Any help?

Hi and welcome! CE4 clearomizers (Stardusts and their clones) are notorious for leaking and having a fairly short life. I use them all the time, but I don't baby them. I rinse them out, throw them on the counter to dry, fill them up again, etc. When they die I throw them away. Smoke Revolt has clones on sale for $2.99.

I've never had one get hot. Do you mean hot like it feels hot or hot like it tastes burnt? Here's the Smoke Revolt link (I haven't bought any from them yet, but for the price I'm going to give them a try): http://www.smokerevolt.com/ce4s I don't bother with the rebuildable kind, for that the vivi mini nova is more cost effective.

I second that. I only have one CE still working and I baby it. Still have all my Vivi's including my one clone. Had one 3.5ml tank crack but I may have dropped it. Not from juice but some juice like Cinnamon will crack them too. Had a CE that frosted and the tip turned to gel with TFA root beer which I found out too late is on the list.

I don't baby the mini either LOL! I was changing flavors a few days ago and when I went to change the head I found I only had a 2.8Ω left and I didn't want to use that. I took the 2.0Ω I was going to clean, held it under the sink, and blotted it. It wasn't even dry when I filled up the tank. The flavor was muted for about 5 minutes, then it was fine.

Not a clearo fan cause of the thicker vg juices I like to vape but sounds like resistance was way too low.Ive had cartos fresh out of the box that would get blazing hot and give an extremely burnt taste to my juice. Has only been a couple in 3 years so I guess Im lucky.

A check with an ohm meter confirmed that it was reading 1.1ohms (wouldnt even read on the Provari cause the load was too high)

Theres a chance that the cleaning or the dry burn damaged them and they still worked with lower ohms.

Thats one of the reasons why PBusardo always checks the resistance on his atomizers/carto/clearos before use and also why people recommend buying an ohm tester for your vaping toolbox.

Hot to the touch, oddly changing out batteries i could not reproduce the same heat on the new twist. Thank you very much for you help. The rebuildables seem a little advanced at the moment but like a kid with a new toy I am looking into every option. Steved 5600 i do baby it at the moment, no pocket carry and i don't lay it flat. I'm sure that will wear off later

Hang on a second!!!! You said you couldnt reproduce on a new battery??

That might not be the clearo then...the battery could be overcharging and thats extremely dangerous. If you have the tools to check it out see how many volts its holding.

Not to scare you but that battery could end up exploding on you

thanks zapped I'll have to check that out too. The clearo is 2.4 and i have it on 3.6. You're right, i think i will hold off on the dry burning and just wait out the drying period. As for juice I bought a 50/50 from tasty vapor and 70/30. Still learning about steeping but the 50/50 is not at all what i expected but its been a week so i may try again. The 70/30 is an amaretto sour which loses flavor quickly. I'll be trying out some others soon.

Actually the clearos do better when you bounce them around. You have to keep the wicks wet: A PBusardo Rant & Review - Vision eGo Clearomizer V3 (long wick) - SnG Vapor - YouTube After the rant he gets back to the clearo review and talks about how you have to keep tipping them.

Hi, and welcome to ECF.

From what you were describing, I am almost wondering if perhaps you are getting a "dry hit"? If you watched the videos, did they show them swirling them to make sure the juice got up the wick? I pocket carried mine, laid it flat etc. with no problems - the problem is that like someone else said they just don't last that long.

Might I suggest a carto and a tank? That gives good vapor, and in a tank a carto lasts longer than if you just drip into it. It seems you are willing to experiment, so you might want to give that a try. I love my tanks, they work so much better than the silica wicked clearos like the CE's and the vivi's. IBTanked.com has some good inexpensive ones, and the owner is OCD on here. OCD is very kind man, can answer your questions and it is a family run business. The basis of the tanks is that cartos need to be refilled or you burn them, once burned they are trash. So, someone had the brilliant idea to punch a hole in one and insert it into a tank so it auto refills, keeping them nice and wet so they don't burn. When the carto has come to the end of its life, you insert a new one. The cartos are inexpensive and you can buy them prepunched or punch them yourself. All I use now are the cartotanks and the RBA's.

Rebuildables are advanced, but since I don't have a store near me, I learned through the videos and from reading here. If you don't feel confident enough to try them yet, I surely don't blame you. It does take a good understanding of ohm's law, a mulitmeter, and a protection circuit on the battery (not an ego, it will kill them if the coil is too low of an ohm or when your coil inevitably blows).

I hope you find a system that works for you!

Everyone here has been incredibly helpful. I really appreciate the advice. I have IBTanked pulled up and it's looking pretty good. In store I was warned against cartos because they "die out" in less than a week. From what i see here though everyone seems to have different experiences and I won't know til i try.

That was good advice concerning normal cartos.A carto tank keeps the carto constantly wet, prolongs the life of the carto (I typically get 2 weeks to a month out of mine) and also eliminates dry hits when primed right.

IMO Pyrex is great because theres no worry about cracking or chemicals leeching into your juice and it provides a cleaner taste than plastic or metal.
