Alright. This thread is kind of for people who either have both models OR have tried both models.

I know that these two models are both BATTERY mods. With that being said, the Screwdriver is threaded as a 901 but they can come in 510, or you can just buy an adapter to use a 510 on it. The same
Thing can be said for the eGo, except it comes as a 510 and you can buy an adapter to use a 901 on it, or an adapter for *pretty much* any atomizer you want really.

As far as looks go- I like the looks of the Screwdriver more, and my opinion could be biased since I do not own an eGo, only a Screwdriver.

Here's what I REALLY don't understand. Everyone says "the eGo tastes soo much better than _______ model. But what the heck do batteries make a difference for taste?Atomizers and fluids are responsible for taste solely am I wrong? And plus, since they both use the same batteries, is style and looks (And also the funnel cover of course) the only thing that separates the two (BESIDES the original threading)??

Also I'd like to hear some opinions from vapers who own both or have at least tried both out. Thanks all!

I don't have the eGo but have used the Screwdriver (the original, real one). There will be NO difference in taste. You are correct that batteries can't make a difference in taste. Bigger batteries can make a difference in thoat hit but since both the eGo and SD are 3.7 volt PV's there won't be a difference there, either. The one difference is that the SD takes a 900 mAh 3.7 volt cr123a battery that you can get at many places and only costs about $3.00 and can be recharged about 2000 times. I suspect the eGo battery is much more expensive and can probably only be recharged about 200 times.

Hope this information helps.

I agree with you on the taste thing. If it's a 510 atty with the same juice, it will taste the same regardless of what battery it is plugged to. (so long as it is the standard voltage). The lager battery will not weeken as quickly, providing a good vape for longer, but other than that, should be the same.

As far as the difference between a screwdriver and the ego, (I assume you refer to the janty ego), the ego,s I've seen have a 651 mah battery, and the screwdriver uses a 900 mah battery. Also the brand name seems to carry alot of weight with some people. I own a screwdriver, not sure if it's a Mk1 or Mk2, don't really care. I'm happy with it, except the 901 atty it uses. The carts are way too small. I've ordered an adapter to use it with my BE112 atty's.

That being said, I guess the main thing to consider is do you like the 510 atty or prefer the 901. Or is there a different one out there you like? Either way, you can get an adapter to attach just about anything to just about anything else. Both seem to be decent units, the screwdriver I have use a standard battery that can be bought for a couple bucks, and was 45 bucks at nhaler.com. I see they also have the ego as well for 78 bucks. Price was my motivating factor between the two. Probably cheaper because it's a Mk1 and the 510 attys are more popular than the 901.

You nailed it right there
as to why I'll never buy another "proprietary" battery again.

Also the fact that (as has been repeated here many times)
proprietary batteries aren't truly 3.7v.

What do you mean? Are you referring to the fact that the voltage changes or the fact that they're actually around 3.6?

I'm a 510 guy all the way. And why do so many ECF'ers (even veterans) say that "wow the eGo tastes so much better than this model etc, if the SAME atomizer is used, same juice, and same equipment minus the battery?

Makes no sense to me

The difference has to do with the cone on the ego/tornado/riva restricting the airflow for the regular 510 or 901 attys. It makes them burn a little hotter and vape better than a standard 510/901. With a LR atty any Larger batt mod with out a regulator will win.
Yeah I knew that about the cone. But I feel like (personal opinion) if you use a LR 510, or a 510 on the eGo, since the 510's get so freakin hot anyway it'd be too hot on the eGo. I don't know, some ECF'ers like warm/hot vapor, but I personally don't. Hurts my throat

the Ego actually puts out a little more for longer than a standard 510 and has the cone that keeps the vapor warmer. Having said that I wouldn't trade one for a screwdriver. Why would you consider spending more for batteries when you alread have a great set up? That is all you would really be doing, trading down for a smaller size and more expensive less long lasting battery. Don't get me wrong I would suggest the eGo in a heartbeat for someone who is looking to upgrade from a standard 510 kit or even just starting out, or looking for a smaller mod. It's a nice price range and a good product.

My friend who got me into ecigs has a screw driver and has had one for a year or so. I told him I ordered the EGO and he said that it was a good choice. Well it get here a while ago and I love it. I am a noob, but it is a really awesome product. I let him try it, and he was shocked. He said that the screw driver has more vape, but the quality of it was better with the ego. Me personally having tried both as well, and being new so I am 100% unbiased, I like the ego better but maybe it is at the vlt the 3.7 (or 3.1) burns and is filtered though the cone to make the flow of air just right? I have no idea, but I love my ego :D

I don’t have a SD but I do have a Silver Bullet and an eGo. I use LR attys on them both. Either 510 or 901. Both are very good units. The SB really does hit like a dump truck compared to the eGo. I can take the same atty, juice and cart from the eGo to the SB and just hurt myself (in a good way :D). I think it really is the difference in vaping at close to 3.7V verses 3.2 that makes the difference.

The batteries on the eGo last me about 6 hours, the SB’s last 24 hrs. The eGo batteries are around $20.00 each, the SB batteries are around $8.00. The eGo is much more easily carried, but it does have a penchant to fire off in your pocket. The SB will not fire off in your pocket (you will list a little to one side, however )

I still use them both, the eGo for stealth, the SB for when I really want to get down. HTH

Thanks all!
Different things for different people. :thumb:
The only thing I like about the sd is std. bat. & the only thing I don't like about the eGo is the non-std. bats. I much prefer a smaller sleek size. The eGo can get hot.
