I'm not certain what I'm doing wrong with the build. The coil is correct, as far as the wrap any way, but when I add the cotton (using cotton bacon) and put it all back together, it's leaking like a sieve! Liquid coming out those bottom air holes and all, I have tried twice, and twice lost all my e liquid.

Can anyone make some practical suggestions as to why?

O-rings are crucial and they have to be wet with e-juice when you put it back together. Dry rings will twist and/or crack/tear when you screw parts together. When that happens any rebuildable will leak. Pull it apart and inspect all the o-rings.

One that people miss is the one where the chimney goes through the top cap. That one can be pushed out if it's not wet when you re-assemble. If you refill by removing the top cap, then that o-ring gets a lot of wear and tear.

Bottom line is inspect all the o-rings and replace them. Spares come in the box.

Leaks are controlled in a tank by maintaining a vacuum balance inside the tank. If the seals aren't good, then juice can leak, air enters to replace the juice that leaks, and the process continues.

If seals are good, then every time you take a hit the tank vacuum rises and an air bubble enters the tank through the chimney into the juice and it's all balanced again. If the seals aren't maintaining that vacuum then air gets into the tank, juice flows into the chimney, and you get juice leakage into the air holes.

Also if the coil is too low the wick can siphon juice down the air hole.. note a drop or two out the air hole isn't a leak.. that's condensation buildup and draining.

If you are top filling.. start threads then flip tank over to screw top on..... this will force excess air out of the tank. You tighten right side up you will force juice out of the tank. And have high air pressure in the tank resulting in the tank draining out the airholes.

And don't. Over tighten the segments.... this will also cause o ring issues.

How are you filling the tank?
Describe or put photo of you build and wicking.

I cut my wick so that they just brush the deck over the channels.

As far as the wick, I am thread it through that chimney (i guess its called) and cutting the wicking flush with that then pushing the wick down to the channels, just like various tutorial videos show. Basically, I am following the tutorials for the build.

I will check the rings and seals this evening, and try again.

Okay, I wasn't doing that.. I had tried to bottom fill it through the screw hole, but it didn't seem to work right, for some reason it was coming back out of the hole before the tank was full.. so I put the screw back in and top filled it, but I haven't done it like you said.

I will try that tonight.

You need to use a needle to fill through the bottom... can be done with regular dropper but more messy.

I bottom fill my kayfuns... it's just easier. I use KFL and a 3.1..... 3.1 being side filled.. must use plastic needle bottle on that one..... top gill work once you get the hang of it....

I use cotton ball for wick... I wick the coil as usual then cut to 1/4"-3/8" above chimney. Then push the ends down to the channels. DONT pack wick into the well. Basically I like to cover the top of the Wells with the tails tickling the channels.. don't bother priming.. as to letting the wick self prime also builds up vacuum in the tank.

When you get leaking from the air holes. Try clearing by blowing through drip tip.. bottom side up for the blow. Thus will clear the airway and remove excess juice from chamber. Do it with air holes down all the juice can be blownout.
