Hey all, i received my 2nd kfl+ v2 the other day and have a couple problems. First off when i received it i noticed it was the "dual air flow" version. At first i was ok with that, then i noticed one of the holes was drilled pretty poorly it is very ridged and looks kinda crappy. I didnt think much of it and went ahead and made a coil, well then i realized the air holes in the center pin that runs through the base wont line up with the holes on the sides of the base. I had this problem with my other kf but it still works pretty good. Well, the draw is very tight, i can get a hit but its like sucking through one of those little coffee stir straws. Pretty disappointed, would anyone have any suggestions?

The hole in the center pin does not have to line up with the air hole in the base. There is a big chamber in there. If you know someone with a drill press you can drill it out. Just make sure it's in a vice when you do it and if possible us a cobalt bit. If you dont use a vice and a drill press you may become one of those who breaks off a bit in the thing. If you like airy you can also drill another hole but keep in mind that you are limited by the hole at the top in the vape chamber. Also make sure your coil(s) are not covering the hole.

1st, holes can easily be cleaned up with a proper sized drill bit.
2nd, it does not matter where the Center pin air holes sit. The center chamber is large and air easily passes to those holes. Any obstruction of air flow will normally be machining debris in the air passages in the base or Plastic debris in the center pin.

3rd, but most important is - Break down and properly clean the Unit. Probe and clear all passages,With Center screw removed, pass a proper sized drill bit through passages to center to verify clear and size if needed.

Also make sure the airflow control tap screws are clean on the end. Two of the ones I just got had burs on the end of the air flow control and obstructed air as well.

Follow the advice of above post.

I just got done doing a full blown cleaning of it. Let it sit in rubbing alcohol for 2 hours then used a toothbrush and some dawn soap to scrub each ans every part, theres nothing blocking anything, maybe my coil....

Did you run a proper sized bit through the passages to Guaranty they were clear? Soap will not dissolve metal or plastic. Maybe your is clear, maybe. 5 of mine were NOT.
3 had Plastic in the center air channel that had to be poked clear with a long sewing needle.

I always test my airflow by drawing air thru the base before I build a coil. If your coil is too low and you are using cotton, the cotton will swell up and choke the device. Cellulose cotton won't do this as much. Your coil when raised up properly should be about half the height of the coil screws or almost to the top of their heads. I am usually about 1/2 - 3/4 way since my center pin is spaced down.

Also if cotton fibers got down in the center post, they will swell and choke the airflow as well.

Suggestion

When you go to rebuild.
Strip, clean up tank. Reassemble without wick/coil. Test Draw.
This will give you a solid base line.
Coil only needs to be high enough to keep legs from shorting on the deck and allow air to freely pass around both sides of the coil assembly. 1.5mm or so is okay in most cases. Larger diameter coils will need a bit more room.

EDIT to add:
A paper clip will not confirm accurate bore diameter.
I had one that reduced right at the air adjust screw cross section. A quick Pass of the proper sized bit opened it up and made a world of difference. < I did NOT over bore the passage>

Ok, just messed with it. Dont have anything the right size to fit down the center tube. I just backed the screw off till the holes were lined up and i can get air now. Only problem is the block it screws down can wiggle just a bit. Not alot but it should work. Ill be very careful but i think with the coil on there it cant really move. Ill keep you posted

Maybe there's some improvement to be had with aligning and cleaning the air ports. I refilled this morning, but haven't changed my last wick, so I will just wait until I have the coil deck exposed to inspect everything.

My draw is still light and airy, but I have to back out the side air adjustment screw even with the casting. You'd think the sweet spot would be designed for optimum at the mid point.

If the holes have to be aligned then the CLONE is a Flop.
The center channel is supposed to be considerably larger than the center pin.

Loose pin is a BAD idea. The pin/post could be turned by simply attaching the Atty.
I was worried about that too, but the block will only turn one way, im gonna see witch way that is later

I have the same version. Drilled larger air holes, cleaned everything and it still is way too tight of a draw. I will recheck everything again but so far this new version is looking like crap.

I have 2 of these ( 1 single and 1 dual) and both are fine. Haven't had to mess with either. Could you fellas have you coils too close to the air hole?

Its the way i was makin my coils. I took the coil out, tightened it all back up, put it all back together completely empty and clean, took a draw, smooth as butter. I guess i make somewhat big coils, and i saw some vids where they made the coils at an angle instead of being aligned with the juice channels, and i guess that was enough to block airflow. Hope this helps others.
