Some constructive criticism.....

The coil looks fine to me, but it's way to high. Get it as close to the air holes as possible, and center it between the two air holes. Keeping the coil close to the air flow will improve flavor and reduce the vape temp.

As for the wicking, the density of the cotton doesn't appear to be enough. It should fit snugly in the coil, with resistance as you pull it through.

What has worked best for me is to keep the tails long, then fold the ends back towards the air holes so that the "elbows" of the wick sit above the liquid channels. The ends of the tails will end up near the air holes. Picture a sideways "U". There should be enough cotton to cover the liquid channel. If the liquid channel is left open to the deck so that liquid has an unobstructed path to the deck, it will flood/leak.

I promise to take a photo next time I re-wick, but this method has worked perfectly for me, with no flooding.

I built DH's Mini Buddha last night and the coil was between the two air holes and close to them. However, DH said the tank was slurpy and flooded after he put it in his pocket to run to the basement. He is using it on his VTR and it fits as we drilled out the ring to fit a Nautilus Mini. I think I need to add more cotton as I built it like my Kayfuns and I guess I should tuck the ends of the wick down on the deck. Any tips?

Yeah, that's what works for me - the Droopy Mustache. No Fu Manchu hanging into the juice tubes, but curling slightly onto the deck under the coil. That had worked great for me the past two days, with a few re-wicks and several tanks of fairly thick (but clear) juice.
I don't have any good picture of the build, but it looks sexy as hell with black parts on a black Sig Mini!

My current build with photos (hope it helps those who've experienced flooding/gurgling) + my experience after one month of daily use:

Today I used 28awg Kanthal @ 3mm w/Japanese organic cotton wick.

I make sure the coil is centered between both airholes while ensuring it is just above them (if it is too high away from the airholes then the coil's cooling performance could suffer). Then I place a VERY small portion of each tail down into the opening of each juice channel which helps prevent potential leakage (especially in situations where the tank is laid down on its side). Avoid putting too much wick in each channel to ensure adequate juice flow.

This came out to be 1.60ohms, and vaping around 12.5 to 13.5 watts seems to be the sweet spot for me. I don't like hot vape nor do I sub-ohm (anywhere from 1.5 to 2 ohms is good for me). My DIY juice is always maxVG with approx 10% distilled water + flavoring (I'm sensitive to PG and always avoid it when possible), and I experience no issues, no dry hits, no flooding nor gurgling at all.

The one thing which could/should be improved is the size of the lower o-ring on the cap (it should be thicker) because at times it does not seat correctly and becomes somewhat stretched - although adding a couple drops of juice onto it (prior to screwing it onto the pyrex section) does help...I've gone to the extent of putting the o-ring in the freezer on a couple of occasions for a few minutes to shrink its size.

Peace and Happy Vaping.

That is exactly how I wick the mini buddha and my goblins. It's worked well for me too! Nice write up and pics.

The wicking that works for me:

Coil is 27ga, 2.4mm ID. I thread the wick then preliminarily trim the tails. I prime the tails with liquid then tuck them under towards the air holes. If necessary, I'll pull the tails back out and trim again until the length is where I want it. There is enough cotton that the elbows extend past the width of the liquid channels at either end. I've had no issues with dry hits or leaking since doing it this way. I typically vape this one at 18 Watts.

I saw your post re: flooding issues you were having. The juice channels are generous (exactly how I like it) but this could also contribute to flooding. Performing the upside-down trick can help after filling the tank...turn the tank upside down, wrap the base/airholes with a paper towel, then blow thru the mouthpiece to expel any excess juice thru the airholes (this helps create a "vacuum" inside after you turn the tank to its normal position) and can often resolve problems. I've experienced issues with my Mini Buddha on some occasions and it was mainly because my wicking was not optimal (not enough or too much cotton, poor wick placement, etc.). Practice makes perfect, and every tank can be different...some if not all tanks can flood at some point regardless. Experimenting with different builds/coils/wicking is interesting and always educational. Today I changed my wick because the juice I've been vaping on (DIY Tobacco Absolute with some caramel, vanilla, and berry) gunks up the cotton and coil quicker than non-Tobacco blends, and I used a slightly shorter wick...still performing well. A short wide-bore driptip looks good on this tank, and a Kayfun Lite Plus V2 driptip doesn't look too shabby either:

Dammit I already lost the screwdriver  Not that I don't already have a bunch of tiny screwdrivers, the Buddha screwdriver was very nifty.

Edit: Found it! Ended up in the laundry.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to get some more Delrin shorties, this one was originally for my Plume Veil.

Me too. That's a nice Plume Veil tip...is that approx 12mm inside diameter? I have a similar one in stainless but not a Delrin version and I've been looking for one with a smaller bore around 9.5-10mm with around 18-20mm height but just haven't found one yet. I have 2 Delrin tips but neither of them are the barrel-style.

The glass version I have is too wide for my preference. I have another stainless shortie with round edges, and it would be nice to find a Delrin version in that style as well. I have a Delrin base which definitely cools the vape during those times when I crank up the watts higher than usual.

Just got one today for SO, I built it with 28g 2.5m 9 wraps, organic cotton just long enough for a bit of a tuck above the juice channels. It's working quite well with no leaks. I'm pleasantly surprised to get a good build the first time out. It looks quite nice on top of his IStick 20w.

It is a very nice replacement for a Nautilus Mini, the Buddha Mini is very close in size to the Nautilus Mini. The Buddha may have a bit more flavor. I mainly wanted to get away from prebuilt coils. So far, so good.

I should have rinsed it before I wicked and filled. Its not machine oil heavy, but there seemed to be a teany bit the first time around.

If anyone is looking for another single coil, affordable authentic, I got an HCigar HC Plus today. Its 23mm, so definitely bigger. Very nicely machined, and fantastic flavor. Not easy to track down though. Two places in Canada, but shipping to the US was expensive. Some places in Europe. And Health Cabin in China, which is where I got it.
