I've "successfully" managed to duplicate a couple of my favorite e-liquid recipes to my satisfaction lol.

No, they're not exactly the same as the commercial recipe but they are close enough for me and in one case, much better than the original (to my taste).

It will take a couple of attempts though because there is always your own individual taste to take into account. If you're looking to duplicate something do a Google search till you find someone else's attempt then tweak it from there for your own liking. It'll make the process go much quicker :)

Thinking further on this, I thought there is another thing you can bear in mind and take into consideration...

Most commercial e-liquids contain a lot of sweetener and ethyl maltol to make them more marketable and palatable to the masses. Sometimes up to 15% sucralose and/or 5% to 10% EM (or more) is added. Most home mixers (from what I've seen) don't go to these extremes.

I've found that adding a ton of sweetener will sometimes get me so close to the original even I'm surprised.

I vaped mostly Hangsen tobacco flavor juices when I bought them from Vendors. It was easy to find those flavors in concentrate form from several suppliers. I also like Flavourart concentrates.

The Flavor Apprentice juices I've tried only two or three of have had a certain undertone in the flavor that I didn't care for. It was also present in certain juices I ordered from vendors in the past.

I've done clones of some of my favorite retail vapes that have come very close but to be honest in my attempts to do this I've also come up with many I like much better then the original retail versions. How it's done is mostly by trial and error and searching the forum for post from others that have attempted the same clones.

The most important thing is to keep careful notes.

Same here. I get to play with the mix on juices that I used to buy, using the same flavorings. Nothing I do is that complex. The most complicated I've made uses three flavors. Some have EM, AP, or Vape Wizard to smooth or round out the mix.

At 6 months into DIY I'm still a Newbie, but learning every time I create a batch. I keep my DIY recipe sheets from EjuiceMeUp, but I'm lazy at note taking. I need to do that better. On the plus side, all my bottle labels include the percentages of each ingredient, including Nic, and I'm saving my favorite recipes in EjuiceMeUp.

Like Dannyv45, I like most of my juices better than the retail versions I used to buy.

There are two favorites that I've attempted to clone over the years and to this day, have been unable to even get close to the original. On one, I've pretty much given up on attempting to recreate it as the recipe is too complex to keep spending $$$ on flavors in an attempt to recreate it. I'll just keep ordering the original.

I'm interested in knowing if you've successfully duplicated your favorite juice? If yes, I'd love to know how you did it. Did it take multiple iterations to get it right and have you successfully cloned your clone?[emoji3]

I Did!

It took Sooooo Many Attempts. And I came Sooooo Close So Many Times, I almost gave up. But bordering on Obsession, I was able to duplicate TV TastyFinger.

What you will find is that even if someone gives you All of the Flavorings needed to do a Complex e-Liquid, finding the Right Proportions can be Maddening.

It can sometimes take a Lot of 3-x-5 Cards with Cryptic notes. And Lots of 15ml Bottles with Batch Codes written on Blue Tape to finally get to where you want to go.

Cuttwood unicorn milk recipe was released online so I get to vape my favorite juice of all time for pennies. Been doing diy for a year now. I've got some great clone recipes and some great formulas of my own making. Most recipes I find on this site have been really good. My adv is
10% osdiys lucky shot
5% osdiys baked cinnamon role
I call it "cinnashot" and all my friends want it.

1000% this!!

If your trying to clone a juice remember to also go ahead and pick up a 4oz of caps super sweet or TFA sweetener.

It's true that they do use 5-15% sweetener per recipe..

Now here's where it gets a little confusing...

Most DIYers have a certain hate towards the use of sweetener because of many different reasons...health issues, coil clogging, lack of creativity...etc.

Here's the difference though..the commercial juice companies don't care about any of that...they add sweetener and it tastes better which means more sales...simple as that.

So if you are cloning which is completely fine then do know you will be using sweetener up to 15% to fill the gap between good to omg this is great and spot on.

I just made a batch of the unicorn milk from the "leaked" recipe. I was amazed at how well it turned out!
