That's why I stopped going to BM's. Been on mail order juice for about a year and am very satisfied with my juices. I went from up to 100 dollars a month to 54.00 a month. Juices galore, I'm staring at 15 different bottles right now!

When I went to DIY I spent $200 for 3 years worth of vaping for both me and my wife.

I couldn't imagine going back to $50+ per month for each of us. I spend less than $6 per month for both of us now.

Just came from a local Ejuice retailer in the NYC area and the owner tried selling a boutique brand Ejuice for 25 dollars for 30 ml. I did sample it was great flavor. Just out of curiosity I decided to look it up on the web, all to find out the Ejuice company has it for 13.99.

Is it me? Or was he trying to take for a ride? I know rent is high for brick and mortars stores and I don't mind paying a buck or 2 more , but that was ridiculous.

You need to realize that shop owners have rent to pay, while the internet vendors do not. We all have to make a living somehow. My suggestion to you is if you feel you're being ripped off by someone who has bills to pay, then learn how to make your own juice and just stick with rebuildables. Other than that, any shop you go to will be higher price than the internet. It's just how the world works. We have families to feed and bills to pay, so of course no shop will be cheaper than the internet. Remember, a website doesnt charge near the same as a REAL store front!

Just in case anyone thinks we are low-balling costs for DIY, I just whipped this spreadsheet up to find out how much the straight Acai juice I am vaping today cost me. I included shipping costs, which bumped it up a bit. Keep in mind that this is a basic straight recipe of 80vg/20pg @ 3mg nic with 7% TFA Acai. I don't go over about 12% total flavor in recipes, but some recipes call for as much as 30%. I could cut my nic cost a bit, but that is a variable anyways since different people prefer different nic. I am fine with RTS, probably going to go with a bigger bottle next time if I don't cut nic down to 0 before I run out.

I order Essentials Depot VG and PG from Amazon, free shipping.

So it is less than $.03/ml, $.82 for 30ml. If I bumped my flavor up to 14%, it would be about $.90, 30% would be about $1.10. I vape 15-30 ml a day. If I vaped 30ml of my local B&M juice, which is relatively cheap compared to some prices posted here, at $15 for 30ml, I could spend more per day than cigarettes. Now 2-3 cigarettes cost as much as 30 ml of DIY.

I did not include the $10 cost for my scale, nor for my disposable pipettes. I have enough bottles (5,15,30 and 50 ml) to last me for a long time, just wash and re-use. Nothing else required.

Internet vendors pay rent too.
They have a physical location somewhere and many actually have B&M stores too. Many actually work their internet from their B&M location. Most that I buy from do this.

A good example is Mt Baker Vapors. Fair prices, good product and if my costs come in at less than $400 per month, I am a happy camper. The $400 is what I was paying per month for analog cigs, so even if I had to pay the same for juices and hardware, it is still a saving to my heart and lungs.

My B&M offers a loyalty program for discounts, but does not include the "premium" juices in it. They claim that the juice makers set the retail price and they are not allowed to discount it. Sounds plausible to me, but I'm not sure it's entirely true.

From what I have been told, A Vendor/Retailer who is under Contract with a Supplier typically has a "Low Retail Benchmark" they are contractually obligated to not delve below. Most can charge More than that Benchmark, just not lower. Typically that Benchmark is whatever they have set and are charging for it in their Company Store whether in the Flesh or on the Web. They do allow their Retailers to discount that Benchmark at times with pre-Auth (for Sales and such) or in conjunction with their "Factory-Store" Sale.
Then there are some that don't care what the Retailer sells it for and leaves that up to the individuals.

In the end and overall,,,
Where you choose to get your Juice from is your business. Your choice. Your decision. No Right or Wrong, no Cookie-Cutter correct Blanket Answer, and 1-Size does Not Fit All. Whether you are a B&M full Retail Buyer, a Factory-Direct On-Line Buyer, or a DIY "Roll Your Own" Buyer. Who cares.
Enjoy & Vape On!

and another Point to consider,
Unless somebody held a gun to your head and forced your decision, why worry or whine about it. So you may have paid too much. Got too little. Quality less than expected. Same thing cheaper elsewhere. Yada-Yada-Yada ad infinitum... refer to above-Enjoy & Vape On. Live and Learn. Choose better next time. So What.
The above presented by a former Idiot that used to buy 10ml bottles of House-Label Home-Brewed Junk-Juice from the local VapeShop for $8-$9 by the hand-fulls. At the time, didn't know any better and didn't care. It was still better than the Chinese Cough-Crap I bought before that from the Smoke-Shop where I had bought my Suicide-Sticks from.
But none of them ever forced me to do squat. I did all that of my own free (although ignorant) will & accord. My fault-NOT theirs and I hold zero animosity toward any of them. They and their Wares served their Purposes for the time being as good as they could. Actually, I am thankful and owe them for their awesome contributions in kicking a 30 year Habit and introducing me to my 4 year and running enjoyable & safe Hobby.
So instead of beating on those People, say a word of Thanks and Appreciation. They helped save your Life.
Exactly What "Price" or Value do you place on that?
In retrospect, quite worth every over-charged Penny wasn't it?
Was/Is for me anyways.

I'm done. Apologies. I get easily worked up as you can see.
Time to Relax and Vape :)

I have a vape shop literally 2-minutes away from where I work, and I will only buy juice there if I absolutely have to, The average for a "premium" (70/30+ vg/pg in 30ml) juice is $23.99 + 6.25% Sales Tax in MA. Coming to $25.49 for 30ml of juice. I'm buying the 100+ml bottles from vendors all over and not even paying close to that. I'm waiting for summer to come around and then I'm going to start making my own juice. I will still treat myself to Nora's Dream from Diamond Vapor though because that is still my favorite juice to date :)

I agree, the cost of ingredients isn't close to what they're charging for the liquid these days. I go through several ml per day and a 30 ml bottle isn't going to last long which is why I DIY. It's sad though because there are some great flavors out there with proprietary recipes that I'd like to try (e.g. Heisenberg) . It seems they target the tootle puffers where $15 for a bottle will go a lot further. :D

Anyway, I'm vaping unflavored these days, over the hassle of mixing up recipes etc. Just a few drops of menthol and the VG is actually very sweet just on it's own...

That's the thing, I don't think I could get the variety/ flavor I enjoy by diy. I'm happy I'm not spending 400 a month. Spend it if you got it?

I don't think people are dumb for buying over-priced juice. I did when I started out, and I wish someone had pushed me into DIY earlier. At one point I even understood how much cheaper DIY was. But what I did not understand was how easy it was. I thought it was too much work, and that I could buy a huge 236 ml bottle of MBV for $30-something, DIY would be too much bother. But that is 236 ml of one flavor. I have 10 different flavors (340 ml) sitting on my desk now for much less money than 236ml, roughly $11.00.

I am not trying to convince everyone either. I agree wholeheartedly that if you like the juice you have, and you can afford the price, great! Have at it. But anyone that is on the fence, I am telling you to jump into it. Read the DIY Liquid forum on ECF, read the warnings but don't be scared off. Start simple, read other people's recipes, experiment and find what works for you.

But be warned that, like shinyitis with your vape gear, flavoritis will probably hit you and you'll need to find somewhere to store dozens or hundreds of flavors. :)

On a slight tangent, I read an article somewhere about how people like Ikea furniture not because it is high-quality, but because they put it together. Even if it didn't come together right, people still value something they put together themselves more than an identical piece that they didn't put together. I find that to be true with e-juice. My juice may taste like the sweat from the testicles of a rancid mango-pineapple-cheesecake-menthol mutation (just guessing there because I have not actually tried the real thing), but I MADE IT and it was cheap, so I am going to vape every last drop of it and enjoy it.

I still have a few bottles lying around of juice I bought that I didn't like. They just weren't my thing, didn't taste bad necessarily.

I hear ya, it's not so cheap in the UK either. Average price for 30ml is around £12 = $18.86.
This is one of the reasons I want to get into making my own e-juice. I tried buying all the ingredients and experimented with some food flavors which were suspended in PG but the taste was awful - too sweet and no throat hit.
I'm kind of convinced now that decent e-juice sellers are not using chemical food flavors, they have to be using naturally sourced ingredients.
