Ok guys, another update. Still vaping on the ekowool.. It's been good for the most part, but there has been a big trial and error figuring out the sweet spot for opening the mouthpiece. There seems to be a fine line between flooding and good vaping. I don't know if it's just me but it seems inconsistent as well.. it's gotta just be me. Once in a while I'll still get a dry burn even with the mouthpiece open.. but other times it'll flood.. (flooding only happened a couple times, but still)

It's been vaping better now that I have the hang of it, I will admit. It vapes nicely.. after the initial break-in period (for me anyway).

Overall thoughts... I don't know.. better than silica? Ehhhh.. Maybe only with MrKrinkle for me... I bet it's better with thinner juice. I really want to love this wick, though. I'm going to keep trying and find what works for me.

Now maybe next time I will try it with silica on the inside of the ekowool.. not sure if that will help, though. I'm also still very eager to try silica inside with ekowool on the coils only.. I just need to figure out how to build it good (gonna try sewing needle... not sure how many strands I can fit inside 2mm ekowool).

I still want to keep experimenting with ekowool.. I really really really love the durability and how much easier it is to wrap coils.. it just feels better and looks nicer and doesn't fray. But if it doesn't perform as good, all that is pointless.

So, there's my initial thoughts on Ekowool down the channels... your mileage may vary.

So after 2 days of the ekowool I'm heading back to silica. Was inconsistent for me with dual coil .7 ohm. Dry hits every 5-6 hits. Flooding at other times. Silica is just more consistent for me.

What size ekowool are you using?

My second trial of the German-made silica wick didn't go too well. Something went wrong, it only lasted 3 days and now it won't even blow out smoke anymore. I checked the Ohm on it and it came out to 4.85 and 4.74 on the second time around. It was going great until today, what could have happened? Maybe a bad coil build?

In any case, I'll rebuild the Penelope today and use the Ekowool this time.

I just rebuilt my Penelope and took some sloppy pictures.

Using Ekowool, dual coil, and the Mr. Krinkle method.

Finally tried ekowool. First test inside ody 2mm hollow all the way inside channels. Same problem as others inconsistency. Sometimes dry sometimes flood. I think the best thing would be silica inside ekowool. I should invest in that. Of course krinkle would work as well. That would be next. I'm thinking 1.5mm silica inside 2mm ekowool I'm not sure how will I be able to do that. Subver were you able to do it?

how well do those duals heat up connected to the NR like that doke? Do they heat up evenly?

How's this build vaping so far?

Yep it heats up almost evenly, more red/orange in the middle, and it is coming at around .81 ohms right now. Took about 10 minutes of vaping to break it in, throat hit and flavor is a killer. I just wish it would last 2 weeks, maybe it will this time since I made sure to make a good coil and I installed those clips into the Ekowool to make sure I don't over tighten it. We will see how this goes, sucks that my previous coil only lasted 3 days using the German-made silica wick, which is weird.

I haven't tried yet, I still have my full channel ekowool build going... it's been vaping good all day.. seems to have leveled out a bit. Everytime I post here saying that the ekowool build is working good, though, it starts to crap out on me!

The only slight concern I have with silica inside the ekowool is, what will it be just a bunch of single threads inside the ekowool, or trying to thread one single 1.5mm silica wick through it? I pretty much only have 3mm silica wick left, so if I remove half the threads it gets all loosey goosey and weird.. I may have to find some 1.5mm silica to buy. I'm gonna keep this ekowool build going until the coils gunk up, though.. I also am trying to see how long the coils last with this new DIY juice I made... it has a maple syrup flavor in it that actually has real maple syrup in it.. so I'm expecting it to gunk up fast, but it seems good so far!

I have a noob question about the hollow core ekowools, the guy I bought it from said there is a nylon center fiiller? in the center that I should remove. But when I got the ekowool, I didn't see any nylon center. Was the guy mistaken, or did I get the wrong ekowool?

Not sure what "the guy bought". Hollow eko wool sounds like what you received. There is an eko that has cotton in it. That acts like a sponge. Either way you boil them first. I haven't seen anything that's eko that has nylon especially sold as vaping wick. Depending on where you get the eko from, you could have the plastic wraps at the end that look like shoelace caps keeping the ends from opening up.

can someone please point me in the right direction here. I need to find out what size ekowool i need for my aga t2. I cant figure out what size the wick hole is stock. I have a choice on ebay for 1mm 2mm 3mm. what is the best size for my aga t2?? and do i get hallow or solid???
I want to just use ekowool with nothing else. no mesh no silica. might experiement with a center peice of something natural later light bamboo or hemp or cotton. THanks guys

Ekowool build worked good all day yesterday.. not bad, but I don't like the inconsistent break-in period. Now my coil is starting to gunk up (more likely due to my DIY juice that has actual maple syrup in it.. I will have to make more with a different maple flavor!) right after it starts working good.

I'm trying to think of a way to prep the wick a bit better to speed up the break-in period.. because I do like how the Ekowool performs, when it performs good.

By the way, I thought of a good way to thread the silica last night... take your silica (half the thickness you need, double the length) and fold some Kanthal wire over the silica at the halfway point... then just pull the silica through with the wire! It's essentially the same thing as a threading needle but the hole can be any size you want, and the wire should go through fairly easily.
OR you could try to loop the kanthal wire around the END of the silica (at the size you need) very tightly and pull it through that way.. not sure if that will work, but it's an idea to get the full silica wick through as you need it.

I will probably try this tonight or tomorrow depending on how my coils go. I'll update you guys when I do it.. I have a lot of faith in the silica core (still debating on doing ekowool down the channels or just on the coils - I will probably do just the coils.. so like a combination of MrKrinkle and silica in channels)
