Have you tried wicks with Ekowool? Do you like it? Pros? Cons?

Every time I see Ekowool all I can see is Elk wool and wonder why someone would want to vape on wool from an elk?
I'm not a silica/Ekowool user, but there are some folks here who do, and I'm sure they'll pipe in.
Damn! For less than $15 you can get 500' of rayon. It doesn't take much. It works a lil different than cotton. Cotton swells when wet rayon doesn't. So you'll need to wick a lil tighter with rayon not too tight, but snug. You don't wanna mess up the coil.I think I got ripped off, look at how much I got![]()

Depends on what coil it is. Most prebuilt coils for tanks can't be dry fired. That I know of.Do I also need to torch it to get any bad taste out? I once saw someone on a video do that but I don't know if it's necessary

I use Silica rope and Ekowool all the time. Virtually indestructable and will last forever.
Some say that there is a slight taste to it. Maybe so, it will go away after 1/2 a tank or so. It does not wick as well as cotton let alone Rayon so heavy chain vaping DTL hits might not be in the cards.
I just pulled/rebuilt two builds I had with it that are +6mo old and with a little rinsing under the faucet the wick looks like new!
I like to match the ID of my coil to the OD of the rope - easy peazy.
I only use Eko-Wool as I dont have to worry about dry burns.

I wish I had a photo, but here is the easiest way to the install Ekowool braided rope through your coil:
1. Cut about a 3" length of the Ekowool
2. Twist a 3" long piece of straight coil wire in the center of your 2" long piece of Ekowool
3. Insert the twisted wire through your already installed coil
4. Then pull the Ekowool through the coil by pulling on the twisted wire
5. Cut the Ekowool to your desired length
What you will then have is [2 ropes] of Ekowool through your coil

BTW ... If your Ekowool is too thick to be pulled through your coil, you either need thinner Ekowool, or just make your coil a little bigger in diameter (either way).
