So wow, ive been a member since 2009?! Awesome! guess i sort of forgot...
any ways, Ive decided to upgrade from the ego pen style, so i bought an eleaf 30w and the ijoy acme sub ohm. For the life of me I cant get this thing to fire... well it fires, it just tastes like metal and is soooo harsh. Ive tried just about all the various wattages, at 30w it pops loud, at 5w it is not as harsh, just no cloud.

Any advice is good advice here, because im banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out

What nic level are you vaping at? Most (myself included) found that we had to lower our nic level when we switched to sub ohm vaping. In my case, I found that 6mg I was vaping on in my Nautilus Minis was much too harsh for me at sub ohm wattages. Lowering to 3mg really smoothed out the vape for me.

Of course, this doesn't really address the metal you're tasting, but it should help mellow out the throat hit.

ETA: Regarding that metal taste, did you thoroughly clean your new tank before using it for the first time?

An odd tank for sure. Make sure the coil is screwed in good. Put a couple drops of juice in the coil. Flip the tank upside down and fill it. Screw the bottom on and flip it back over. Adjust the airflow and tighten the drip tip. Try to fire it then.

I am doing a 12mg nic. The taste is like what dry burning the Ego wick smells like... if that makes sense. So um, i kinda messed up also. I put the 2ohm coil on it... at 5w the eleaf read something like atomizer something...it read the same @ 10w, so i cranked it up to 20 and when i pressed the button on the istick, it instantly burned up the cotton! black. Its trash unless I find a way to re cotton it?

after that I dumped the juice, took apart the tank and rinsed it all out. I put the coil on the box without the tank and burned it at lowest wattage to get all the water off of it. Then I put a little juice directly into the coil, put it all back together, filled er up, and its still like im burning a hole in my throat.

Big thanks to both of yall for the replys. In case anybody runs into the same setup problem... dont use Grape Mellon 12mg nick from VapingZone in columbia sc, it is sooo harsh. I put it in my ego (that I can get major clouds from) and it was def the juice. I rinsed and put in some Berry mix 10mg nick from same store and its like night and day. Im vaping at 10w with the ijoy acme and im not having buyers remorse so much anymore. Im probably still going to go and get a Kanger aerotank v2 (or any suggestions) just to test out non sub ohm's tanks, as im coming fresh off of the ego.

yes the coil is trash until you rewick it.

you are making a common mistake of trying to run too much power to coils that are not made for high power.

you can start low and move up gradually.
if you start high, you mess things up permanently.
