So, what are the chances that eleaf will sell just the base for the GS air? I've been looking at gs16s for weeks but wanted AFC and didn't want different coils. They look so good on the mini, but I need another type of coil like I need 10 more pounds on my thighs. Not!

That's a good question, I really don't know though. I know what you mean on the coils too.

OK, all of you who have this tank, please chime in for the benefit of us who do not. Several have reported dry hits. Since I don't have this tank yet, and no experience with this kind of coil, I am merely speculating.

Does this coil head require a lot more time to bring in the juice and get saturated than other style coil heads? I am not even sure what this wicking material is made of but is it the same stuff as the Aspire nautilus coils, or are we talking about organic cotton? I see no reference to it on Eleaf site. Is it part cotton part mystery?

Maybe the dry hits are just an off coil and poor QC for the coils....or maybe not a fully saturated wick?

Everyone having issues with dry hits.....please report what viscosity/ ratio of juice you are running, and your vape habits. I can get dry hits with every device I've had because I am a chain vaper at times. If any prebuilt coil can keep up with me, I will be impressed. I'm not trying to imply that any of this is user error, but I am trying to avoid a problem myself. If I need to fill the first tank and let it sit for two hours before firing it...I'd like to know that.

Just got mine last night and all I did was fill it up and let it sit for a while. I haven't had a single dry hit and only one burnt one when I turned the wattage up too high. I didn't drip any juice on the coil or do any priming hits or any of that. So far, it's performing well. It's a bit airy for me, however. I plan on tightening up the AF screw when I get home. Also, the tip on it is waaaaaaaay too big, so I'm gonna change that out as well. I'm not sure I'm sold on the taste of this yet. My Applewood seems to taste better in my little iClear 16s so far, but that might be because I didn't clean the GS before use or maybe I should have put some juice on the coil. Maybe with a little use it will improve. Only time will tell. Over all, though, I like it. Looks good on my iStick.

I too got the "new tank" taste. Please explain your method above ^^^^^ Thanks.

I had an "off" taste at first, too. I took out the coil, rinsed the liquid out of the tank with water and then swished the tank around in a small container of cheeeep Vodka a couple of times. Shook out most of the Vodka, re-inserted coil, refilled and vaped away. Huge difference in flavor.

If you have Everclear, that is often recommended too. The Alcohol itself is a solvent and can clean out machine oil, dust, or whatever that sometimes doesn't get fully removed at the factory. One could also use Isopropal (PLEASE, not on the coil), but you must let it thoroughly dry before using.

Update to my post ^^^
Got home and changed out the drip tip and tightened up the AF screw. Big difference already. I'm noticing also that I can not chain vape with this. I might actually be able to start lowering my nicotine level now because this hits so well.

Did you also notice an improvement in flavor after adjusting the AF screw to your liking?

I think so. After I use up most of the juice that's in there, though, I'm gonna try cleaning it anyway. I think I may have to get a couple more of these little babies.

Wow. I'm impressed with this tank so far. Rinsed it out and loaded it up asap when I got home. It does crackle and is a noisy little bugger, but I don't care if this flavor and vapor production hold out. This could be the answer to my vape prayers.... will report more with prolonged use.

It looks cheap, but it is at $10 ...cheap. If that little coil keeps performing then I think we have a winner. I've been staying at under 13W on my istick. Who knows what I am truly delivering for power....LOL. Either way, I'll set it to taste.

Thanks to the OP for bringing this one to our attention.

Really? I think it looks quite nice on my iStick. It's very sleek. Like - well, like they weren't meant for each other! :)

It pairs well with the istick for sure. I guess by cheap I mean like chromed plastic pieces, and the knurled coil base seems a little cheap looking? Nothing that is going to bother me. I don't think they'll take a lot of abuse like steel stuff.

Does yours crackle and pop quite a bit? I'm really starting to wonder if my istick isn't regulating. It feels like it's hitting about 5 volts (or more) when it should be 4. Guess it matters less now, because this 1.5 coil is squarely in the sweet spot. I am a happy camper. I think I'll be burning through a lot of juice with this one.

I got used to my wide open Lemo airflow, so I've had to dial it back a bit on my inhale.

Utopia
A mini and preliminary "review", by KD:

I like it. It sits a bit crooked and while I admire the Leaning Tower.....

I didn't mind the stock drip tip, but prefer my non-metals, so I changed that out rather quickly.

It hits very well to me, with no change in the original air flow control. It has a bit less of that spitting crackling of vliquid often present on the Naughties.

The flavors are a bit "lighter" (think tonality, not concentration) than on the Naughts. I'm finding more of the sweet notes in my vliquids.

The vapor is definitely more voluminous on this little guy. I like it!

I'm using the stock coil, 'Stick 20w, 6 Eleaf watts.

But did I mention it's crooked?

I didn't mind the stock drip tip either. Actually is not as long as the Lemo. And, I think it will prevent some hot liquid from hitting me when I get overzealous on my draw.

I never owned a Nauti, so the spitting and crackling seemed loud to me on this, but it must be the nature of these types of coil heads.

Wondering if cleaning it out will be a challenge....since only the bottom coil base comes off. Oh well, I will keep a dedicated flavor in it....I mean in THEM, because three more at least will be getting ordered tomorrow if the rest of the night goes well.

mine lean ever so slightly, but I just straighten them out and wind the AFC up to meet it and close the gap.

Don't take all my fun away, solace. I was enjoying my vicarious trip to Pisa. ;) But yes, I've done the same as you.

B2, I had zero prob cleaning out the tank. I'm not sure what challenge you might have in mind.

Happy Shopping! :)

Are you using the istick 20 or 30watt? The 20w does overvolt by about a volt so if you set it to 4volts your much closer to 5volts

I just let it sit in some vodka for a coupla minutes, then shook it with vodka inside, poured out the vodka, and refilled with juice.
A few puffs later, and, no new tank taste.

Mine just crackles a very little bit at the beginning of a hit. Then it's smooth sailing.

I am really going through the juice with this tank. I love the size with the istick. Makes things so much more transportable than having my gigantic Lemo tank on top. I did not have any vodka around the house, so I did still have a bit of the new tank taste after washing the tank out.

Kat- I am comparing cleaning this tank to my Protanks. All the pieces of the Protank come apart, so I find them a lot easier to dry out with a paper towel than this tank. But just washing it out then letting it dry overnight is simple enough. I was anxious to try this tank so I didn't have time to let it air dry......but I couldn't reach all the water drops in the tank with a paper towel.

I'm using the 20W istick by the way. So yes, I know I'm delivering mor volts than is indicated on the screen. Not sure that I'll be running this tank above 12W on the istick.
