G'mornin' fellow air heads! I guess the high for today is 54°F, still warm for my area, I'll take it.

Same here...predicted high of a tropical 54°F, though it's not quite 40° at the moment. Good weather for an AirHead. As is all weather.

The FT coils have improved after a night of soaking. The draw is much improved on both the M and the GS Air. I think I'll store a few submerged.

That is a liner that is inside, next to the coils, but not the liner between the cap and the inner coil.

Just got back. Couldn't tolerate it anymore. It was hitting like a cigalike.

The liner in the picture is rare, it looks like a "heatproof" liner that goes right next to the wires and wicks...some sort of insulator.

I remove them, since it's about one in six or so that has them.
I don't think it makes any difference, except it would insulate the coils from making contact with the walls
of the coil.

That's a different insulator than I have seen in mine. If you leave those out you could short the coil

I had rebuilt a few before I saw this insulator in one.
Since I had never used then in Protank rebuilds, didn't worry about it.

I've found it doesn't seem to matter if you line the juice holes up with the wicking slots. When I don't line them up, it seems I can get drier hits when chain vapin. Have you experimented with this?

I always mean to! I had thought that if you lined two of the outside slots up with the wick, it would make a difference
in wicking. I think I stopped wondering when I couldn't seem to remind myself to do this while reattaching the cap.
I'm sure the reason i quit thinking about it was I never had wicking problems on rebuilds and went down to one layer
of liner.

Yeah I use only one layer. It HAS to wrap fully or I get flooding. The first one I tried without lining up the ports would not wick good at all. I may have done 2 wraps on it, I can't remember. I think I'll do some more testing on them (if I can remember). Right now I'm experimenting with nickel in the Lemo.

I had one of those when I was 12. They don't ride too good. Stiff legged. Never saddled "Poncho" though.
