Hey I just Noticed Something.

I popped the Barrel off a 1.5 Ohm Head to check what was Inside. just like I remembered it. A Slotted inner body with a Horizontal Coil/Silica Wick.

OK...

So then I went to Pop Off the Barrel to a 1.2 Ohm. Ummmm... Not - Popping - Off - ? Three Tries with the Inverted tank method later and No Pop. Screw that. Planets are in a Bad Alignment.

Tried a Nickel TC Coil. Same thing. What the Fluck is going on? Time for the LED Magnifier.

They're Different!

The 1.5 Ohm Barrel/Body is Different from the 1.2 Ohm and Nickel TC Barrel/Body.
I will take a 1.5 apart soon I wanna seeee lol

Update:
The coil is still leaking after all. :nah:
I shall deal with it manana. It is still vapeable (how are we, as a collective, spelling this word?), after all.
You know, I think that the vaping lexicon should become official. If they can add selfie to the dictionary, certainly they can add vaping and all the other terminology associated with it. :2c:

I have rebuilt the 1.5 ohm coils...many times. Usually to 1.1-1.2 ohms. I like rayon, don't like cotton. Probably will never rebuild a 1.2 vertical one because I'll never buy any. I don't like organic cotton so why on earth would I spend hard earned money buying something I don't like to begin with. I have probably 50 of the original air coils here that I can rebuild. I ain't buying more! Lol

Lost--it may be a bad coil, it happens...

Have you checked the little o-rings and grommets? Are they seated properly? Check the tank also, you may have a vacuum problem.

Hi Birdie.
What would I check on the tank?
It's not the end of the world if it's a bad coil. It would be the second one out of a dozen or more, so not bad odds.

I thought this started over the TC40 not usin a VV mode. It adjusts in VW in .1 watt increments and the smaller voltage readout to get the watt setting reads in hundreths of a volt. So you have a finer adjustment than jumpin a half watt or .1v at a time. (.1w and about .02v using coils that size.

Right.

I'm not that particular. :D

0.1v (0.5w) increments is all I need. But I don't do TC, so my comments only apply to the regular, non-TC, tootle-puffing kind of vaping. My favorite kind.

1.2 has a "manhole cover" on top that comes off instead of the cap like the 1.5

I was just thinking of ordering a pack or two of the 1.2 cotton coils, as I currently only have 7 coils that can be rebuilt. Sure glad I read the above. I don't want them if I can't easily rebuild them.

That also puts a damper on an iStick 40 TC/GS Tank purchase. Wouldn't get into TC at this point if I can't rebuild the coils.

@LostVapeMonster

What I would check in the tank?

Check the base--make sure that both o-rings (outer and inner) are in place. Make sure the AFC holes are not blocked (regular cleaning helps here
wink.gif
). Make sure that your drip tip is seated properly and the o-rings are tight. Make sure that the coil head is screwed into the base all the way and that the base is screwed into the tank all the way.

Try a different coil--if it works fine, the tank is fine.

It's a simplification, of course, and I should have specified that it only works in our (my) tottle puffing range. So, let me restate: if you're vaping at 5-22 watts or so, using a typical 1.2-2.2Ω atomizer, an increase or decrease of .1v will increase or decrease your wattage by .4-.6 watts. :)

Test it yourself if you don't believe me:

Online Conversion - Ohm's Law Calculator

one of my often-visited bookmarked pages ;)
and call me peculiar but when we were using 2.6 ohm coils the 0.5 watt adjustment step did overshoot my desired voltage by too much, hence my preference at that time for vv :D
naturally, with an 0.1 watt adjustment that point is now moot ;)

The 1.2 ohm coils are rebuildable but are certainly more of a challenge. Some pages back I took one apart and had some pics (too lazy to find it)... also took a pic if a 1.0 rebuild a bit later (ditto). The tough part is the wick... it has to be packed pretty tight or it'll flood. That said, the 1.2 ohm coils certainly wick better with the fatter juice channels, but the 1.5 ohm coils rebuild a ton easier.
