I'm going to order a pack of 1.2 coils to try but not getting my hopes up. I use high PG juices and live in hot Texas. It's all I can do to minimize gurgling with the 1.5's. I like cotton, so I guess I can use the 1.2's for the two days of winter we have
Same problem here in NC when it's hot, the 1.2 cottons gurgle more, I've started taking the drip tips off and storing my tanks upside down on the counter at night. I read that helps and it seems to :) I vape 70pg/30pg much of the time.

I won't argue that it doesn't make sense but in all the prior discussions on rebuilding the GS coils, I've never heard this before.
What say you Cheechmesiter?

I tried an experiment with lining and not lining the slots up...I use one layer of liner and it did not make a difference in my case.
I state this with all due respect to Bikenstein. Since I only use one layer of the liner there is more than enough space for the
juice to flow for a more than adequate vape.
But, as with all things, if it works for you, go for it.
I sit and wrap 20-30 coils at a time. I'm glad I don't have to concentrate on lining up the slots...
I also took a pin to several stock coils to see if they line up the slots...it seems to be random from the factory too.
But, that may have changed also.

:) Those things would knock you on your ..... We used to toss charged condensers to each other at a bike shop in Tampa.
We had a really cool HS electronics class.

We'd charge up a cap with a 400v power supply and just leave them laying around. CRACK! and you'd hear someone scream.

You learned pretty quick what a cap looked like and to not go touching the leads if you weren't the one who laid it down.

Our beloved teacher had a red 60's AH Sprite. Eau Gallie High has open outside hallways. About 10 of us picked up Mr. Green's Sprite and put it sideways in the hallway. Maybe 12" space off each bumper before wall. Even he had to laugh at that.

Mr. Green was in my Father's flying club. You could fly your monthly dues off at 3 hrs paid for flight time a month. If you had perfect attendance each 6 weeks, Mr. Green would take you flying. I got to fly in my Dad's plane and have my Electronics instructor pay for it. Whee!

Make me look bad Cheechako! :) I think the difference in our results was the type of tampon de gaze we use. I assemble mine different too, I put the wrap in the cap and push it on the coil head instead of twisting it on. It makes it easy to line up. It doesn't make much difference unles I hit it hard 2 or 3 times in a row. The factory doesn't do it cause I checked several coils that were misaligned.

They learned quick at our school not to give us any help with playin pranks. I learned that a little different but it's not PC today.:)
We would pick the coaches VW up and set it crosswise in the street. He would think his son parked that way when he came back from lunch. He didn't laugh but never caught on. :)

That's why I wrote with all due respect, you know more about coils than I do.
If you do it like you do, no problem lining up the slots, for me, it would be a nightmare!
I use so little liner, it is a non issue with my coils. Probably why I like the Tampon de Gaze I use.
I've always said I was a lazy coiler...

I consider you the master GSA coil builder. :) It helps that they use 4 slots in the cap, you can't get far off anyway. The one I tested I put the slots as close to center of the inner wall as I could. Theoretically it could affect the wicking properties and make some coils wick better than others, but like you say for the average vaper usin them, there is no difference.

If I was sub ohm vaping with the Air, it would be something I would watch to facilitate wicking.
You have experimented in that area more than I have. I experimented with all kinds of liner in
order to get the best wicking. What I ended up with does the best job without having to use
excess care rebuilding. I tried it all as did most of the folks here, vertical, dual, cotton, rayon,
silica, modifying the cap, the coil shell, and everything in between.
Of course I went with the easiest way! I'm so lazy...

Easiest is the best considerin the low cost of these. Gotta make it worth the time..:) You have been a tremendous help to many including me cause I didn't even know they could be taken apart and pressed back together so easily. Thanks for bein so lazy..:)

I'm seein sites starting to put Ismoka in the title of the products now, ie Ismoka Eleaf istick, Ismoka Eleaf GS Air. They should have done it to start with to keep confusion down.:2c: They may drop the "eleaf" out eventually, too much to say :)
