Cheech, I could have sworn that back when you did your first video, you said you were using a 14 gauge luer lock. So that's what I've been using ever since, and I like it. It makes a bigger coil, so I can stuff a lot of rayon into it.
And the 14ga -5/64-2mm fits nicely in the slot to position the coil during assembly. As has become obvious...I am confused.Cheech, I could have sworn that back when you did your first video, you said you were using a 14 gauge luer lock. So that's what I've been using ever since, and I like it. It makes a bigger coil, so I can stuff a lot of rayon into it.
I have no doubt, you are a better coiler than me, that's for sure! And the 14ga -5/64-2mm fits nicely in the slot to position the coil during assembly. Bigger coil, more rayon, bigger flavor.

You are the GSA Coil Master. I've seen you at work. If it wasn't for you I might never have popped the cap on one.I have no doubt, you are a better coiler than me, that's for sure!![]()
Thank you, that was my intention, to show these could be rebuilt. You are the GSA Master. I've seen you at work. If it wasn't for you I might never have popped the cap on one.![]()

I use 28 with the GSAs too. You should post your wrap count and resistances.Yes, they work so well I've just never changed that. And I like 28 gauge better than 30. It just seems to wrap better for me, even though I need more wraps.

You're right, the 30 would be more suitable for 1.5 ohm coils. The 28 may require too many wraps, I haven't tried but it is a small space. As has become obvious...I am confused.
I have always used the pink, foosha, violet, purple needle for my coils once I found it worked best.
I went back and checked my video and it does state at 1:40 to use a 16 gauge needle...but if the 14 works for you, great!
I changed to 30 gauge kanthal as it was easier to hit 1.5 ohms for me.

great flavor and vapor, but went through juice like crazy! also have to change out wicks more often. the size is a bit beastly for me but looked nice on an istick 30w.ive been using the airs for a couple months now but thinking of getting a subtank mini anyone used both and can give comparisons? thanks
It's like a Buddhist outlook to selecting wire!Which is why I love the 29 g--happy middle! The 30 is too thin for me, the 28 too thick for the Airs... Goldilocks syndrome, I know.
And at least 2mm coil I.D. 16 g needle is too thin, IMO; it's only 1.7mm. 14 g is much better--2.1mm.![]()
The gnurled ones seem easier.
Wow, a tank I have that I can compare to the Air!ive been using the airs for a couple months now but thinking of getting a subtank mini anyone used both and can give comparisons? thanks

What type of wire do you use (Kanthal/Nichrome)?
Cheers
Hey Cheech!
She's talking about us again.
My knowledge of coiling (other than up with a good book) is nil, null and void, and not especially copious. I admire and salute all of you who have filled page after page with your wit, wisdom, and coiling techniques. Even though sloth, age, and transplanting season prevent me from joining you, I thank you for being enthusiastic teachers.
You brighten my day with not just the how to's but also your fervent, even passionate dedication to the philosophy of rebuilds.
And so, in gratitude, I offer you...
René Descartes walks into a bar. He sits.
The bartender greets him, in that froggy way,
"Bonjour, Monsieur Descartes."
Then switching to English for our benefit...
"May I serve you a drink?"
Descartes ponders deeply, considering all aspects of the philosophical
question, and replies, "I think not."
And he disappears in a puff of vapor.
