Edit - almost forgot this -- I can't get over how many don't watch television! Don't get me wrong, I don't like mindless TV, either. But here in Michigan at least, there's not a whole lot else to do! I need to work on this -- self improvement needs to be in my future. Thanks for opening my eyes a little today!

These days with all of the new technology, it could very well be some kind of plastic over some kind of other plastic that looks and feels and tastes like metal (it sure tastes like metal to me)

TV is GREAT! Are you kidding? Except for those stoooooooooooooopid reality shows. They are the downfall of quality, scripted Television.
Nanny, the only time I turn my tv on is on weekends(Food Network) or if Noah is here. Otherwise, I hear so much noise all day at work I want the peace and tranquility when I get home. 
Most of the time when I have the TV on, it's for background noise, and I'm rarely actually watching it. Not much on worth watching anymore. I really hate to sit in a dead silent room, though. I'm too busy with you folks to pay attention to anything.
I gave up cable three years ago and can't get over-the-air broadcasts at the house since the FCC mandated digital broadcasting. I do do Netflix, Hulu and what not. (Did I just write do do?) Most of the stuff on TV is garbage. I catch what I want to see when i want to see it and save $1500 a year to boot.

That's why I have a down coat and 4 wheel drive. I also understand that we have people of different generations here. My mom spent her last days knitting in front of the TV. She loved her Food Network and reruns of L&O SVU.
My daughter is the L&O SVU fan here. I am the FN fan. I also love Criminal Minds and The Big Bang Theory. Of course, Criminal Minds comes on after I've gone to bed! Lol
It gets old, believe it or not. Things still have to get done and the weather makes it that much harder. And until this last year my husband had to drive about 25 miles each way to and from work in lots of snow every day, leaving home at 4:15 AM. No plows had normally run at that hour, he was the one who made the tire tracks for everyone else to follow, LOL. I still go in to my office, but normally only one or two days a week now, and that's about 20 miles each way.
There are pros and cons to being out and staying in, I guess. In really bad weather though, there is no option - and sometimes you stay in even when you really need to be out. I'm one of those people that can take it as long as there is SUNSHINE -- too many gray days in a row and I am NOT a happy camper.
