It seems this thing is going to drive me crazy. The problem with the dry hit has been resolved, but now I'm having a problem with the battery reading the ohms on the coils incorrectly. I'm using eleaf EC-S 0.6 ohm coils and they are reading at 0.72 ohms. I primed a new coil, let it sit overnight and when I took a hit at 20w as I usually do it was immediately burnt. That's when I discovered the problem. I put a 0.5 coil in my Melo2 tank with the same battery and it reads at 0.55, which is close enough, so it isn't a battery issue. I've turned the battery off and let it sit a while but it is still doing the same thing. There isn't a setting to change the voltage, just the watts. As far as I know, there isn't a factory reset, either. Any ideas?

I only had a problem with the nautilus 0.7 mesh coils. No problems with any other tank or coils. What I did to solve it was to prime the coil-let sit for more than 10 minutes. Gently blow air into tank and set the wattage lower than 20. (15w) After a few hits and knowing it won't burn I reset to 20w. This is the only way I can use the mesh coils on the istick Rim.

When was the last time you thoroughly cleaned the 510 connection points?
On both power & delivery devices. Pins & all threading.

The eleaf EC-S 0.6 ohm heads are SS mesh recommended 15w - 30w.
The Melo 5 tank has 4 internal liquid flow ports that close when you remove the tank from base and open when base & tank are threaded together correctly. Hard to see but make sure they're fully open or you will burn / scorch the wicking material.

Are you priming the head by dripping drops onto all exposed wicking material until fully saturated, then installing head into base.
Fill tank, thread base & tank together ensuring the liquid ports fully open.

Aways a good idea to start a new throughly primed head off at a lower power range & gradually work your way up over the first half tank or so. Start off around 12w take a few vapes, raise .5 - 1 w take a few vapes & so on.

When you adjust watts up/down the device automatically adjusts voltage going to the coil to arrive at your chosen power setting.

Then I don't understand what you think the problem is.

Mass produced replaceable coil heads are not always spot on as far as Ω goes, a slight variance is common.
Not all power devices read Ω accurately, slight variances are common.

From .6Ω to .72Ω, You're talking about .12Ω / twelve hundredths of an ohm ~ 12/100's.

Really makes no difference, set the power to 20w it will deliver 20w no matter what the coil resistance is.

Which version of the Melo are you using?
The Melo 5 is not suitable for MTL inhale style, trying to MTL a delivery device designed for DTL will cause all sorts of problems.
